    ELIZABETHTON — Barbara Heaton McElroy, 77, Elizabethton passed away Monday, October 11, 2010, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    She was a Carter County native. Barbara was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a member of the Watauga Point United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the United Methodist Women, former President of the Local Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary.

    She was a member of the Republican Women's Committee. Barbara was appointed by former Governor Don Sundquist to the Tennessee State Medical Review Board.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. McElroy, January 2006; by her father and mother, Dencie Heaton Estep and Earl Estep; and a brother, Bill Heaton.

    Survivors include two daughters: Pamala Litz and husband, Eric, Tallahassee, Florida, and Debra McElroy, Boston, Mass.; Three Granddaughters: Amy Litz and husband, Scott Lato, Tallahassee, Florida, Rebecca Litz, of Atlanta, and Grace McElroy-Howard, Boston, Mass.; Her Brother: Richard Estep, Elizabethton; Sister: Vickie Cannon and her husband, Jerry, Elizabethton; Several Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and great nieces & nephews.

    A Service to Celebrate the life of Barbara McElroy will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Watauga Point United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Pinner officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday October 15, 2010, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Thursday and also at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Greg Maupin, Greg Bowers, Mike Mathena, Jason Cannon, Bobby Cordell and Jonathan Fair. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jim Linebaugh, Bob Eicher, Millard Day, Gary Whittington, Garret Whittington, Danny Carver and Larry Carver.

    The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Watauga Point United Methodist Church.

    Barbara married Louis Homer "Mac" McElroy about 1953. Louis (son of Louis Homer McElroy, Sr. and Frances L. Brackett) was born on 3 Aug 1933 in Buncombe County, , , North Carolina; died on 12 Jan 2006 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.
