    Notes:

    Morrell Eston Hardin, 94, formerly of Bill Nave Loop,
    Elizabethton, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Pine Ridge Care Center,
    following an extended illness.
    Mr. Hardin was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Alvin
    P. and Bessie Bowers Hardin. He was also preceded in death by three brothers,
    Alfred Johnny Hardin, Greene E. Hardin and Leonard Hardin, and a sister,
    Naomi Hardin.
    Mr. Hardin was the Oldest Member of Blue Springs Christian Church. He
    retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 32 years of service.
    He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge #238 F&AM and was a 32nd Degree
    Mason for 52 years.
    Survivors include his wife, Vera Bowers Hardin, of the home; a son and
    daughter-in-law, Grant W. and Phyllis Hardin, Hampton; a grandson and
    granddaughter-in-law, Jamey and Renee Hardin, Elizabethton; two
    granddaughters, Cindy Lenore Canter and Angela Hardin Shingleton, both of
    Elizabethton; a step-grandson, Gregory Lynn McKinney, Hampton; a step-
    granddaughter, Suzanne McKinney, Kingsport; three great-grandsons, Zachary
    Hardin, Elijah Shingleton and Dustin Canter, all of Elizabethton; a great-
    granddaughter, Keaton Shingleton, Elizabethton; a step-great-granddaughter,
    Madison Jane McKinney, Kingsport; a sister, Myrtle Buckles, Elizabethton;
    two brothers and a sister-in-law, Garnie and Beulah Hardin, Hampton, and
    G.C. Hardin, Elizabethton; and two special friends, Bob Couzzi and Lillie
    Jean McNeal, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    HARDIN -- Funeral services for Morrell Eston Hardin, 94, formerly of
    Bill Nave Loop, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, May 16, 2002, will
    be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick
    Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Thomason and Mr. Don Marshall, ministers,
    officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ray Estep and Russell
    Potter. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m.
    Monday, May 20, at Grover Bowers Cemetery, Blue Springs Community. Active
    pallbearers will be Sheriff John Henson, the Carter County Sheriffs'
    Department and Bob Couzzi. Honorary pallbearers will be Max Collins, Jason
    Wilson, Grover Bowers, Steve Franklin, Gayle Oliver, Bosco Canter, Wayne
    Shingleton, Fred Cole and Dr. David Fenner. Everyone will meet at the
    cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Monday for the graveside service. The family will
    receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may
    also call at the residence, 137 Bill Nave Loop, Elizabethton, at any time.

    Garnie M. Hardin, 97, Elizabethton passed away Monday November 15, 2010 in the Pine Ridge Care Center.

    A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Alvin and Bessie Bowers Hardin. He was a retired employee of the Bemberg Corporation. Mr. Hardin was a paper carrier for the Johnson City Press for 17 years. He loved to work on lawn mowers , working in his garden and antique cars. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Beulah Bowers Hardin, July 8, 2006 and three brothers: Eston, Greene and Alfred Hardin. He was a member of the Willow Springs Baptist Church.

    Survivors include Two Sons: Grady M. Hardin and wife Phyllis, Bean Station, Tenn., and Harley J. Hardin, Newton, North Carolina. Two Daughters: Mary Katherine Mueller and husband Richard, Aiken, South Carolina and Nora J. Fritts and husband Mitchell, Elizabethton. 6 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren. A Brother: Grant Hardin, Elizabethton. A Sister: Myrtle Buckles, Elizabethton. Several Nieces & Nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Carr officiating. Interment will follow in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

    Grant C. Hardin, 99, of Elizabethton, formerly of 827 Blue Springs Road, Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Pine Ridge Care and Rehab Center. Grant was born on July 7, 1917 and was a son of the late Alvin P. Hardin and Bessie C. Bowers Hardin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Pauline Oliver Hardin, on December 19, 2001, and four brothers, Garnie Hardin, Eston Hardin, Alf Hardin and Greene Hardin.
    Grant was drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served his country in Germany for three years. When he returned home he went to work at the Bemberg Corporation, which ironically was a German Rayon Manufacturer and one of the largest employers ever in Carter County. He retired from Bemberg as a machine operator. One of his hobbies was Bingo, which he attended every week in his sport coat and dress hat. He was also a member of the Masons and the Shriners. He was a very humble man who didn't like to say a lot about himself, but once stated "although I was drafted into the Army, I served my country with pride." He was the oldest member of Blue Springs Christian Church.
    Those left to cherish his memory include one sister, Myrtle Buckles, of Elizabethton, and many nieces and nephews.
    A service to honor the life of Mr. Grant C. Hardin will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, September 16, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Andrew Church providing a eulogy and Mr. Richard Thomason providing a prayer. Music will be under the direction of Donna Ellis. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence of his brother-in-law, Gayle Oliver, at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Lindsay Rash, Rick Richardson, Noel Church, Sam Ellis, Greg Heaton and Evan Ellis. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Blue Springs Christian Church.

    CONOVER, N.C. — Harley J. Hardin, 80, of Conover, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at his home. Harley was born October 11, 1938 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Garnie and Beulah Bowers Hardin.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Grady Hardin.
    He is survived by a daughter, Karen Hardin of Conover; two sisters, Mary Mueller and husband Richard of Aiken, S.C., and Nora Fritts of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
