    Notes:

    Vera B. Hardin, age 82, 137 Bill Nave Loop, Elizabethton, died Friday, Dec. 15,
    2006, in Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. She was
    a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Daniel S. and Nellie
    Rutherford Bowers. Mrs. Hardin was a homemaker who loved all types of music and
    could play seven or eight instruments by ear. She was a member of Blue Springs
    Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
    husband, Morrell Eston Hardin. Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, Grant
    W. and Phyllis Hardin, Hampton; two grandsons, Gregory McKinney, Hampton, and
    Jamey Hardin and wife Jennifer, Elizabethton; three granddaughters, Cindy Lenore
    Canter, Angela Hardin Shingleton, both of Elizabethton, and Suzanne McKinney,
    Kingsport; four great-grandsons, Zachary Hardin, Elijah Shingleton, Dustin
    Canter, and Levi Shingleton, all of Elizabethton; two great-granddaughters,
    Keaton Shingleton, Elizabethton, and Madison J. McKinney, Kingsport; and two
    sisters, Viola Gross, Hickory, N.C., and Pat Cole and husband, Fred,
    Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for
    Mrs. Hardin will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in the Tetrick
    Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with Mr. Richard Thomason, Minister officiating.
    Music will be under the direction of the Blue Springs Men's Quartet and Kathy
    Thomason, organist. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday in
    the chapel prior to the service. Friends may also call at the home of a sister
    and brother-in-law, Pat and Fred Cole, 836 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton, at
    other times. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
    Dec. 19, in Grover Bowers Cemetery, Blue Springs community. Those attending are
    asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to
    the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gale Oliver, Terry Oliver, Shirrell
    Bowers, Steve Pierce, Denny Bowers, Keith Church, Steve Franklin and Sam Ellis.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Church and Doug Williams.

    Vera married Morrell Eston Hardin about 1928 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Morrell (son of Alvin Powell Hardin and Bessie Katherine Bowers) was born on 26 Jun 1907 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
