Eliza Ruth Pleasant would have been the third child of Garfield and Eliza J. Morley, and was born on 23 Jun 1904. Eliza J. Morley Pleasant died on 18 Aug 1904. Prior to the 1910 Johnson County census, Garfield married Ella O. Treadway. The 1910 census lists:

ARNOLD, Delmer C., 74, went to be with his Lord at 12:47 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 1995. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary A. Minopoli-Arnold of Naples, Italy; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Tom Roubal; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie W. and Dianne; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Delfrari; daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Richard Rosler; 12 grandchildren and two grandchildren’s spouses; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Berneice Matherly; brothers, Park, James and Elwood Arnold of Johnson County, TN; as well as a brother-in-law and family from Italy who live in Tucson. Born in Johnson County, TN, he served in North Africa and Italy with the 5th Army Medical Corps during World War II and was awarded two bronze stars. Living in Tucson for 48 years, he was employed as manager of Mulcahy Lumber Company and retired from Grant Road Lumber Company. He was awarded “Outstanding Salesman of the Year’in Tucson prior to retirement. Services will be at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. James G. Arnold, 83, of Elkhart passed away peacefully in his home at 9:15 am, Saturday, May 28, 2011. James was born on February 27, 1928 in Butler, TN, the son of the late Eddie and Eliza (Pleasant) Arnold.

His is survived by his loving wife, Corine of Elkhart, three children, Frankie Arnold of Mishawaka, Judy Lewandowski of Theodore, AL, and Linda Tomlinson of St. Petersburg, FL; step children, Shirley Sawyer of Elkhart, Tina Arnold of Butler, TN, and Lisa Wheeler of Elkhart; granddaughter, Christel Dorbin of Granger and five great grandchildren, Christian Correll, Haylie Buck, Ashley Dorbin, Noah Buck and Cody Dorbin. He is also survived by two brother, Park and Elwood Arnold, both of Butler, TN He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Myretha (Nave) Arnold and grandson, James W. Buck, brothers, Delmer and J.E. and sister, Bernice.

James was the last surviving charter member of New Life Baptist Church, which began in 1950. He was very involved with the church and served as Deacon.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

BUTLER - Elwood A. Arnold, 89, Butler, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 14, 2021 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born July 29, 1931 in Butler to the late Eddie & Eliza Pleasant Arnold. In earlier years Elwood was a trucker. In 1971 he opened Arnolds Auto Sales. Elwood was a member and Deacon of Little Doe Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Doris Garrison Arnold who passed away December 20, 2006, by a sister: Bernice Matherly and four brothers: J.E., Park, James & Delmar Arnold. In his spare time, he loved to farm.

Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law: Randy & Tina Arnold, Butler and Chuck & Becky Arnold, Gray. Two Grandchildren: Ryan Arnold and Hope Arnold. Two Great Grandchildren: Lillian Arnold and Isaiah Arnold. Several nieces & nephews. His special friends: Larry Mullins Howard Stout and Carter Isaacs.

There will be a service conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor. Kreg Smith officiating. Entombment will follow the service. Active Pallbearers will be Deacons of Little Doe Baptist Church, family and friends.

Tommy Arnold, 29, Rt. 3, Butler, was dead on arrival at Johnson County Memorial Hospital after a logging accident Monday morning.

A life-long resident of Johnson County, Mr. Arnold was employed as a logger and was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Eliza Arnold, in 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Faye Brickey Arnold; one daughter, April Dawn Arnold, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Park Arnold, Rt. 1, Butler; one sister, Mrs. Lynn (Sandy) Snyder, Rt. 3, Butler; his maternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Victor Broyles, Rt. 3, Butler; and his paternal grandfather, Ed Arnold, Rt. 1, Butler. Several aunts and uncles also survive.

Funeral services for Tommy Lewis Arnold, 29, Rt. 3, Butler, who died Monday morning, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Little Doe Baptist Church, with the Rev. R. A. Royston and Mark Sparks, minister, officiating. Interment will be in the Butler Memorial Cemetery. The Sugar Grove Quartet will be in charge of music.

Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, will be Carroll Matherly, Jerry Matherly, Jerry Garland, Larry Garland, Bob Atwood and Carroll Fletcher.
