    ELIZABETHTON – Ethel Church Tolley, 81, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.

    She was born in Mountain City, Tenn., to the late Herbert Cross and Flora Olive Hall Church. She had lived in Carter County for several years.

    Ethel impacted the loves of many people by her respectful nature and was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Tolley was a member of the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Matthew Tolley; and children, Norma Jean Cox, Emma Dean Tolley and Terry A. Tolley.

    She is survived by three Daughters: Barbara J. Gould and husband, Bob, of Elizabethton, Teresa A. Tolley, of Johnson City, and Jacqueline R. Birchfield and husband, Donald, of Bluff City; One Sister: Cledith Perkins and husband, Ed, of Mountain City; Two Brothers: A.G. Church and wife, Joyce, of Johnson City, and Walter R. Church and wife, Sharon, of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Several loving nieces and nephews also survive.

    Memorial Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Donny Reagan and Bro. Darrell Ward officiating.

    Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Music will be provided by her church family. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

    Cledith Bland Church Perkins, age 87, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, from natural causes at her residence in Mountain City, Tennessee. Mrs. Perkins was married to Eddie E. Perkins who passed away February 4, 2017. They were married August 29, 1948, nearly 69 years. They were both members of First Freewill Baptist Church, Mountain City, Tennessee.

    Cledith was born on March 29, 1930, in Johnson County, Tennessee, to the late Herbert Cross and Flora Olive Hall Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Gary and Terry Perkins, two grandsons; Travis Dwight Curd and Eddie Mack Perkins; six brothers: Edward James Church of Michigan, A. G. Church of Johnson City, Tennessee, Glenn Willis Church, Douglas J. Church, Ronnie Lee Church, and Junior Church of Mountain City, Tennessee; and four sisters: Marjorie Ethel Church Tolley, Johnson City; Nell Church Pealer, of Johnson City; Belle Church, and Connie Marie Church Osborne of Mountain City, Tennessee.

    Those left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Sharon Fritz and husband Jim of Knoxville, Tennessee; three sons: Larry Perkins and wife Carol, Jerry Perkins, and Perry Perkins all of Mountain City, Tennessee; a brother Walter Reid Church of Butler, Tennessee. She has eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

    Cledith's greatest love was her family. Being a homemaker was a fulfilling occupation for her. The highlight of Mrs. Perkins day in recent months was a visit from her great grandchildren who rushed to her with hugs and kisses. Cledith also enjoyed working in her vegetable garden, quilting when possible, and going for joy rides with family and friends. Before she became so ill, she enjoyed shopping and going out to eat.

    Funeral services for Cledith Perkins will be conducted on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 8:00 p.m. from the First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Poe and Rev. Daniel Jones officiating.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service.

    Graveside service and interment will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

    Pallbearers will be nephew Tony Church; nephew Chuck Seminski, nephew Billy Reid Fletcher, Kenneth Rowman, Jett Arnold, and Johnny Arnold.

    Honorary Pallbearers are: brother Walter Church, nephew Jim Tester, nephew Mark Hughes, son-in-law Jim Fritz, Jack Arnold, and Jordan Farthing.

    The family want to extend a special appreciation to Ginger Peters, Jenny Barry, Cindy Church, Jordan Farthing, and many other Silver Angels, who helped care for Mrs. Perkins in the home. Especially, Ginger Peters and niece Cindy Church who were so devoted to her.

    Cledith married Eddie Perkins on 29 Aug 1948 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee. Eddie (son of Rosco Perkins and Pearl Alice Potter) was born about 1928 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; died on 4 Feb 2017 in Johnson County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery, , Greene County, Tennessee.     JOHNSON CITY - A.G. Church, 84, of Johnson City went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Agape Nursing Center.

    He was a native of Mountain City and had lived and worked as a carpenter in Johnson City most of his life. Mr. Church was a son of the late Herbert and Flora Hall Church. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Church loved working with his hands. At one time in his life he raced cars at Sportsman's and Bulls Gap Speedway. Mr. Church loved the Lord and enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a good heart and a great sense of humor. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Ed, Doug and Ronnie Church; three sisters, Connie Osborne, Nell Peeler and Ethel Tolley; also a granddaughter, Jessica Flack.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Neal Church; two daughters, Penny Lynn Church and Sheila Ann Pinkston and husband, Doug all of Johnson City; a brother, Walter Church and wife, Sharon of Butler; a sister, Cledith Perkins of Mountain City; three grandchildren, Jason Flack, Kelis Pinkston and Whitney Pinkston; also several nieces and nephews.

    Services for Mr. Church will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, June 16, 2017 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. James Cambron officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour. Graveside services will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:45 PM. Military Honors will be provided by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Guard Detail. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    ROAN MOUNTAIN - Teresa Ann Tolley, age 72, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Waters of Roan Highlands. Teresa was born in Washington County, Tennessee to the late William Matthew Tolley and Margorie Ethel Tolley. In addition to her parents, Teresa was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Terry Tolley; and a sister, Norma J. Cox.

    Teresa was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Shannon Peters and Shane Peters, both of Johnson City, TN; two grandchildren, Tristan Peters and Hunter Peters, both of Johnson City, TN; and three sisters, Irene Michaud of Vermont and Barbara Gould and Jacqueline Birchfield both of Elizabethton, TN.

    A graveside service to honor and remember Teresa will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Washington County Memory Gardens.
