    J. L. LOWE DIES IN GUATEMALA
    Word has been received by the parents, R. S. and Mrs. Lowe, of the death of their son, Private J. L. Lowe, which occurred June 22. Death came from drowning in the port of San Jose, Gautemala, with the body being recovered June 27. Burial was on June 28 in Corazal Cemetery, Canal Zone.
    Private Lowe had been in the Army for 14 months. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Among his survivors are the parents, R. S. and Mrs. Lowe; Mrs. Opal McQueen, Butler, Mrs. Virginia Shoun, Avondale, Pa., Betty Lowe, Mountain City, Paul Loe, Salem, Oreton, S. C. Lowe, Gate City, Va., Earnest Lowe, Elizabethton, Edgar, Ivan and Richard, of Mountain City.

    Ivan H. Lowe, age 35, Route 3, Mountain City, died at the home of a sister, Mrs. Joe McQueen of Butler on Friday at 7:00 p.m. after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Johnson County, son of the late Richard S. Lowe, Sr. and Mrs. Cassie Shoun Lowe. He was a farmer and member of the Baptist Church.
    Surviors[sic] include one daughter, Shiela[sic] Lowe, Bristol; mother, Mrs. Cassie Shoun Lowe, Mountain City; five brothers, Edgar Lowe, Mountain City, Earnest Lowe of Elizabethton, Paul Lowe of Dallas, Ore., S.C. Lowe, of Weber City Va. and Richard Lowe, of Johnson City; three sisters, Mrs. Joe McQueen, Butler; Mrs. Jack Shoun, Avondale, Pa., and Mrs. Bettie Durnan[sic], Wilmington, Del.
    Funeral services were conducted from Lewis Gentry Funeral Home chapel Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Kyker and Rev. Tom Worley officiating. The burial was in Shoun cemetery. Pallbearers and flowerbearers[sic] were friends and neighbors.

    Richard S. Lowe, died at his home in Johnson City on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, following an extended illness. He was a native of Mountain City, Tennessee, and had lived in Johnson City since 1960. He was the son of the late Richard S. Lowe Sr. and Cassie Ellen Lowe. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He was an Air Force veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lowe retired from Eastman Kodak Company after 32 years of service. He was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and trustee. He is survived by his wife, Christine Lowe, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard Todd Lowe and wife, Daisy, and their twin daughters, Zoe Grace and Kate Ellen, of Hong Kong; Terry Lowe and wife, Renee, and their sons, Austin Blake and Evan Patrick, of Gray; one sister, Betty Durnan, Delaware; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be brothers-in-law, nephews, and deacons of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Sluder, Fred Addison, Marvin McKinney, Carroll Billheimer, Bill Roberson, Lester Arnold, Bill Brookshire, Randal Pierce, Danny Ray Miller, Wilson Terry, Mickey Leonard, Frank Lawrence, Jim Brogdon, teammates in the Pro-Am Golf League, friends at the McDonald’s club and friends and neighbors in Garland Farms. A celebration of life services for Mr. Lowe will be conducted at Sinking Creek Baptist Church, Thursday, November 18, 2004, at 8:00 p.m. with Reverend Reece Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Washington County Memory Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2004. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
