    Mr. Coy Stines, 81, of 1291 Joe Parlier Road, Elk Park, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at home.
    He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Watauga County, a son of the late Rev. Charlie and Ida Brown Stines.
    Mr. Stines was a member of Beech Creek Regular Baptist Church, a deacon and church clerk for 46 years. He was a retired carpenter.
    Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Faye Stines; three daughters, Gladys Guy and husband, Glenn, of Sugar Grove, Wanda Potter and husband, Dennis, and Glenda Roark and husband, Norman, all of Elk Park; five sons, Kelba Stines and wife, Betty, of Newland, Bill Stines and wife, Kathy, of Fleetwood, Carl Stines and wife, Tammie, of Butler, Tenn., Danny Stines and wife, Debbie, and Ronnie Stines, all of Elk Park; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Phillips of Vilas and Mrs. Ruth Estep, both of Elk Park. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Stines, Floyd Stines and Clyde Stines; three sisters, Mrs. Eula Ward, Mrs. Vertie Whaley and Mrs. Addie Estep; and one great-grandchild, Trenton Cody Stines.
    Services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Beech Creek Regular Baptist CHurch. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Dean Shephard. Burial will follow in the Stines Family Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Service.

    Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to the Stines Family Cemetery Fund, in care of Norman Roark, 1247 Joe Parlier Road, Elk Park, N.C. 28622.

    Ruth Murray Estep age 90, of Elk Park, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at the Life Care Center in Banner Elk. Ruth was born on Dec. 29, 1929, in Avery County to the late Charley and Ida Brown Stines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband: Harvey Estep; three Brothers: Floyd, Clyde, and Coy Stines; three Sisters: Addy Estep, Ula Ward, and Verdi Vines.

    Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was employed by Cannon Memorial Hospital for 14 years. She enjoyed watching game shows and the Hallmark Channel. She also enjoyed listening the radio and reading her Bible.

    Those left to cherish her memory are two Sons: Dean Estep and wife Evelyn, and Marshall Estep and wife Lois all of Elk Park; one Daughter: Phyllis Mitchel and husband, Mike, of Elk Park; one Sister: Viola Phillips of Vilas; five Grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland, with Rev. Richard Jones officiating.

    Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

    Interment will be private at McGuire Cemetery.

    ELIZABETHTON - Helen Marie Hartley Taylor, 79, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, December 4, 2022 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Tine & Missouri Crain Hartley. She had worked several places during her lifetime. Helen was a solider of the Lord. She loved helping people in any way she could. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Taylor and five sisters: Ruby Cochran, Jean Mitchell, Lorraine Elliott, Delane Ward and Brenda Garland. She attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

    JOHNSON CITY - Reverend Dallas James Hartley, Sr., age 79, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord at the Johnson City Medical Center, on Saturday, May 4, 2019.

    He was a native of Mountain City, Tennessee and was a son of the late Thomas and Berthie Jenkins Hartley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, his first love, Frances Louise Hartley: two daughters, Cindy Hartley and Tammy Sue Harrell; a great granddaughter, Serenity Dawn Guinn; three brothers, Paul, Clyde and Carl Hartley; one sister, Maude Munsey.

    Dallas was a veteran of the United States National Guard and was a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church, and was the founder of Living by Faith Church, Elizabethton. His true love was spreading the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed tending to his yard.

    Those left to cherish his memory include, his wife, Barbara Hartley, Elizabethton; four children, Karen Bailey, and her husband Rick, of Elizabethton, Dallas Hartley, Jr., of Elizabethton, Michael Hartley, and his wife Kimberly, of Elizabethton, Melissa Sheets, and her husband Billy, of Elizabethton; twenty one grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Hartley, of Johnson City, Luther Hartley, of Johnson City; three sisters, Helen Odom, of Johnson City, Ivalee Copas, of Johnson City, Ruby Beckett, of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Music will be under the direction of Brandon Harrell and Randall Gentry.     Born in Johnson County, TN, Maude was a mother to five boys, but she was a mother and a friend to everyone. Kind, generous, and loving, a privilege for anyone who knew her.

    She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha Hartley. She is also preceded in death by her husband David Munsey; three brothers Clyde, Paul, and Carl Hartley.

    Maude is survived by five sons; Danny, Benny, William "Will", David Jr., and Michael Munsey; three brothers Luther, Dallas, and Charlie Hartley; three sisters Iva Lee Copas, Ruby Becket, and Helen Odom; grandchildren Joslyn, Christopher W., April, Tonya, and Jasmine Munsey; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends 12-2 pm Friday, Aug. 31 in the east chapel of Allen Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2 pm, with Rev. Jack Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Bethesda Cemetery.

A native of Mountain City, he was a son of the late Thomas and Bertha Jenkins Hartley. He had lived in Carter County most of his life. Charlie was retired as a truck driver with the City of Johnson City Waste Water Treatment Plant. He loved bass fishing, eating, hunting, golf and music. He was a member of the Simerly Creek Believers Fellowship Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Maude Munsey and four brothers: Carl, Dallas, Paul and Clyde Hartley.

    Survivors include his wife and soul mate of 43 years: Charlene Holtsclaw Hartley. Three Children: Anita Allen, Jan Hartley Ball & husband David, April Turner & husband Benji and “Bonus Son” Joe Holtsclaw and wife Alaina. Four Grandchildren: Zack Allen, Dakota Allen, Kayla Hartley and Brittany Hartley. 6 Great Grandchildren. One brother Luther Hartley & wife Kathy and three sisters Iva Lee Copas, Ruby & Helen. He had a special place in his heart for Cheyanne Richardson, Paisley Holtsclaw and his dog Rowdy.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holtsclaw and Rev. Steve Holtsclaw officiating.     Survivors include one son, Curtis Hicks and his wife, Doris, of the home; one granddaughter, Heather Ann Hicks of Elk Park; one grandson, John Younce and wife, Davina, of Mountain City, Tenn.; one great-granddaughter, Deanna Marie Younce of Mountain City; two sisters, Blanche Clark and husband, Joe, of Hudson, N.C., and Beverly Nakash of Lynnwood, Wash.; two brothers, Pat Estep and wife, Betty, and Captain Estep and wife, Carrie, all of Elk Park.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hicks; one brother, Chester Estep; and her parents, Finley and Addie Stines Estep.

    Services were conducted Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Eric Cornett. The family received friends Sunday evening from 7-8 p.m., at the chapel.

    At other times, the family will be at the home of her son, Curtis Hicks, 719 Buckeye Road in Elk Park.

    Graveside services will be conducted Monday morning at11 oâ?™clock at the Beech Mountain Regular Baptist Church Cemetery in Elk Park.
