LAWSON BOWERS
Lawson Bowers, 64 years of age, died at his home on Blue Springs branch this morning at 5:30 following an illness of six months.
Survivors are six daughters and three sons, one brother and one sister. Three children are dead and his wife.
Funeral services will be held at the home at ten o'clock Saturday morning and will be in charge of the Rev. D. C. Patrick and the Rev. James Fair.
Interment will be in the family cemetery.

Mrs. Susie Bowers Anderson, 99, of 810 North Roan Street, Elizabethton, formerly of the Blue Springs Community, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Lawson and Mary Williams Bowers and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alf Anderson; a son, Dallas Anderson and a daughter, Doris Grindstaff. Mrs. Anderson was the oldest member of the Blue Springs Christian Church. She loved to work in her garden and she enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by a daughter Mary Anderson; a son, Carl Anderson, both of Elizabethton; three grandsons, Albert Grindstaff, MO; Gerald Grindstaff and Larry Grindstaff, both of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Anderson will be conducted on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 7:30 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jill Kemp.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6:00 -7:30 PM on Thursday, or at the home, 810 North Roan Street, at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Honeycutt, Fain Bowers, Ernest Bowers, Terry Oliver, Sherrell Bowers and Gayle Oliver. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Eliza Marie Carden Bowers, 92, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Cambridge House, Bristol, following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Rudy A. and Lottie Bowers Carden.
Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker. She was of the Pentecostal Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, who died February 9, 2008; a daughter, Margaret Bowers; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Rebecca Bowers; a special niece, Penny Rosenboro and her husband Preston; one great-niece, Ashton Rosenboro, and one great-nephew, Jayden Rosenboro; a special friend, Kenven Richardson and wife Becky; and a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services for Eliza Marie Carden Bowers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Matt Stewart officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the Old Horseshoe Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, will be Kenven Richardson, Preston Rosenboro, Steve Collins, Jeremy Hodge, A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, Jayden Rosenboro and Joe Carrier.

Eliza married Stuart Bowers about 1999 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Stuart (son of Robert Horace Bowers and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jenkins) was born on 19 Feb 1913 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 9 Feb 2008 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Old Horseshoe Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee. Herbert Hoover Carden, 72, 433 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton,
died Tuesday, August 14, 2001, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Carden was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Rhudy and Lottie Bowers Carden. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Arthene Carden, September 28, 2000.
Mr. Carden had made his home with his daughter for the past year. He was former employee of Tennessee Chair Company and retired from the Carter County School System as a custodian at Unaka High School and Hunter Elementary School. He was a member of the Old Horseshoe Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Preston Rosenboro, Bristol; a sister, Eliza Bowers, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Ashton Rosenboro and Jayden Rosenboro; and a special friend, Ella Louise Nidiffer. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

CARDEN -- Funeral services for Herbert Hoover Carden, 72, 433 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, August 14, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, August 17, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Edd Davis and the Rev. Larry Garland officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 18, in the Old Horseshoe Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dallas Anderson, age 74,Elizabethton passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a Carter County native and a son of Susie Bowers Anderson, Elizabethton and the late Alf Anderson. He was also preceded in death by a sister: Doris Grindstaff. In addition to his mother, Mr. Anderson is survived by one sister: Mary Anderson and one brother: Carl Anderson, both of Elizabethton. The funeral service for Mr. Anderson will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 21st in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Richard Thomason officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 22nd in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sherrell Bowers, Fain Bowers, Ernest Bowers, Willard Loveless, Gayle Oliver and Michael Honeycutt.

Carl J. Anderson, 79, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at his residence. Carl was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Alf and Susie Bowers Anderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Grindstaff, and a brother, Dallas Anderson.
Carl had worked as a cook at Dino's Restaurant in Elizabethton for over 50 years. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith and liked watching wrestling and eating out with his sister.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Mary Anderson, of the home, and two nephews, Larry Grindstaff, of Elizabethton, and Albert Grindstaff and wife Bizzie, of Missouri.
A service to celebrate the life of Carl J. Anderson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, September 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Richard Thomason officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence of his sister at other times. The graveside service will follow in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends.

Gerald S. Grindstaff, 65, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Grindstaff was born in Elizabethton and was the son of the late James B. and Doris Anderson Grindstaff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathaleen Grindstaff.
Those left to cherish his memory include two brothers, Albert Grindstaff and his wife, Teresita, of Missouri, and Larry Grindstaff of Elizabethton; and an aunt, Mary Anderson, Elizabethton, who was also his best friend and caregiver. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Grindstaff enjoyed listening to music and to ballgames. He was a loving brother and nephew who will be missed by his family.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Grindstaff will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 21, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends and family. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton for all the love and care shown to Mr. Grindstaff and his family.
