    Mrs. Winona Joy Luzier Grindstaff, 87, Butler passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at her residence.

    A native of Petersburg, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late William Earl and Della Mae Borror Luzier. She had been a resident of Butler since 1946, moving there from Baltimore, Maryland.

    She was a retired Nurse with the Johnson County School System, where she worked from 1972-1987. She was an active member of the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church, taught the Adult Women's Sunday School Class, assisted with Vacation Bible School for many years and was in the Church Choir. Mrs. Grindstaff was a member of the Butler Chapter #218, Order of Eastern Star and served as the Past Worthy Matron and Grand Representative of the Order of the Eastern Star of Tennessee in previous years.

    She was a former board member of the Carterview Utility Board and was associated with the Retired Teachers Association.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband: Coolidge L. Grindstaff, June 29, 1993; by a son: Joe Grindstaff, October 10, 2001; by two brothers: James Henry Luzier and William Courtney Luzier; and two sisters: Betty Lou Stoltz and Beatrice Lorraine Kincaid.

    Survivors include a son: Rick Grindstaff, Leicester, North Carolina; a daughter-in-law: Rebecca Grindstaff, Johnson City; A Granddaughter: Leah Grindstaff Daily and her husband, Jay Daily, Leesburg, Virginia; A Grandson: Nick Grindstaff and his wife, Danielle Grindstaff, Limestone; Sisters: Gloria Williams, of Alabama, Patricia Riechert and Sibby Cafeo, both of Pennsylvania; A Brother: Harmon Luzier, of Maryland; Great Grandsons: Daniel Grindstaff, Dylan Grindstaff and Henry Daily; Several Nieces & Nephews, friends and neighbors of Johnson and Carter Counties.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Simcox officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Butler Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Koch officiating.

    Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
