    Mr. Bobby Dean Rupard of 1146 Waters Road Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 27, 2011. Bobby Dean "Burley" Rupard, age 73 of Laurel Bloomery, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Rupard was a native of Johnson County and son of the late John C. and Rosa Rupard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rupard was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Shirley Jean Winters, two other sisters, Hazel Noland and Earleen Campbell.

    Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Janet Shupe Rupard of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Dean Rupard and wife, Melissa Rupard, of Laurel Bloomery, TN, Jonathan Bobby Rupard and wife, Kelly Rupard, of Mountain City, TN; one daughter, Cynthia Rupard-Cretsinger of Laurel Bloomery, TN; and two grandchildren, Kaleb and Channie Cretsinger of Laurel Bloomery, TN. Siblings include Grace Rupard, Laurel Bloomery, TN, Margaret Lewis and husband, Wayne Lewis, of Bristol, TN, Beulah Robinson and the late Vaughn Robinson of Mountain City, TN, Herbert Rupard and wife, Doris Rupard, of Laurel Bloomery, TN; a special niece, Cathy Canody of Abingdon, VA and several nieces and nephews.

    He was retired from Levi Strauss & Co. after 38 years of service. He was a proud grandfather and his grandchildren, Kaleb and Channie were the light of his life. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Laurel Bloomery, TN where he loved his church and church family. Bobby loved to farm and he enjoyed doing that most with his two sons. He was also an avid gardener. Everyone who met him loved him and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

    A celebration of life was held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Prater officiating; special music by Kerry Gentry. The family received friends prior to services beginning at 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Graveside services immediately followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA. At all other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Bobby and Janet Rupard.

    Pallbearers were Bill Heck, Terry Thomas, Eric Taylor, Brian Taylor, Doug Canody, Ronnie Campbell, Benny Rupard, and Bob Heck.

    Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Mark Handy, M.D., Wayne Lewis, Jim Neely, Van Neely, Brian Neely, Marvin Blair, Evan Taylor, Billy Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Paul Blevins, Kerry Gentry, Kenny Icenhour, Randy Crowder, Cameron Crowder, Charlie Blevins, Chris Galiher, Mattew Bray, Phil Winters, Gary Winters, Ron Shupe, Glen Shupe, Frankey Shupe, Mitchell Shupe, Benny Shupe, David Shupe, Clark Ward, Representative Scotty Campbell, Pastor Billy Morefield, Bill Brookshire, Glenn Robinson, Jimmy Crowder and Bud Cullop.
