Aileen was born on January 19,1935 in Avery County. She was the daughter of the late Carmon and Harriet Hughes of Roaring Creek.
She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and going to thrift stores. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carmon Hughes; mother, Harriet Hughes; husband, Larry Powell; sisters, Marie Clark, Sue Zoleane Hughes, Mable Stoughton, Maxine Guess; brother, J. C. Hughes; daughter, Anita Lowenberg; son in law, Junior Staton; two grandsons, Donnie Powell, and Larry Powell.
