Laura Belle Garland, age 67, of Bakersville, NC, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at her residence. She was a native of Mitchell County, NC and was the daughter of the late Fred and Dollie Hoilman Blevins. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, William Edward Garland of the home, sons, Terry Garland of Bakersville, NC, Larry Garland, of Knoxville, TN, daughters, Carrol Ann Garland and Rosa Lee Garland both of Marion, NC, sisters, Shirley Riddle and Dixie Renfro both of Bakersville, NC, brother, Bruce Blevins of Bakersville, NC, seven grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son, Gary Lee Garland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Beans Creek Freewill Baptist Church with G.B. Garland and Marvin Silvers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the L.G. Gouge Memorial Cemetery on Hwy 226 North.

JOHNSON CITY - Betty Blevins Humphrey, age 87, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2022, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Betty was born September 26, 1935, to the late Arthur Blevins and Madonna “Donnie” Harrell Blevins in Unicoi.

A devout Christian, Betty was a longtime member of Lynnwood Church of Christ.

Betty was a homemaker and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by so many, and she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Humphrey; former husband, Doug Humphrey; and her six brothers and two sisters.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her children, Rocky Humphrey, Drema Tester, and Kimberly Osborne, as well as many others.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow, at 1:00 pm, under the direction of Mr. Paul Peer. A private burial at Monte Vista Memorial Park will occur at a later date.

UNICOI - Kathy Callahan, age 64, Unicoi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 12, 2021 while she was surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Yancey County and a daughter of the late Reverend Ebb and Eddie Letterman Wheeler. Kathy lived most of her life in Unicoi County.

She was a homemaker. Kathy was a member of Marbleton Freewill Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and she loved her church family. Meme cherished her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Kathy surrounded herself with family photos, she was especially proud of all her grandchildren’s pictures. She was an excellent cook and meticulously tended to all her house plants.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Callahan; one brother, Adam Wheeler; three sisters: Wanda Cooper, Margaret Morrow and Evelyn Shepherd.

Kathy leaves behind to cherish her beloved memories, two children: Adam Clouse, Erwin and Tina Edney (Chad), Unicoi; three grandchildren: Chandra Edney, Drew Edney and Tyler Clouse; one brother, E.L. Wheeler (Queenie), Erwin; four sisters: Sally Cole (Calvin), Weaverville, Faith Higgins, Erwin, Lida Gill, Greeneville, SC and Henrietta Anderson, Mars Hill; Special friends: Larry and Nora King, Kim Lloyd, Ethan and Dakota Gouge, who were first to call Kathy, Meme; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Marbleton Freewill Baptist Church. Pastor Tim Broyles, Pastor Willie Morrow and Reverend Pete Lloyd will officiate the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday in the Mill Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Drew Edney, Tyler Clouse, Ethan Gouge, Dakota Gouge, L.J. Mitchell, Adam Clouse and Chad Edney. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 A.M. to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Avalon Hospice, Krista, Brittany, Dr. Miller and his staff for all the loving care given to Kathy and her family.

ELIZABETHTON - Beulah Blevins Hambrick, age 87, of Elizabethton, TN went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Beulah was born in Buladean, NC to the late Carrick Blevins and Stella Ledford Blevins. She retired after many years working in retail management. She was a member of Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ. Beulah loved people and had a big heart. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed cooking, canning, working in her flowers, helping others and underprivileged children and especially loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hambrick, of 59 years and daughter, Kim Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Susan Pope and husband Rick, Vanessa Holsclaw and husband Jeff, Debbie Harrison and husband Sam; son-in-law, Jerry Johnson; grandchildren, Joshua Reifert and wife Melissa, Summer Mosley and husband Christopher, Jonathan Harrison and wife Tab, Jordy Harrison and fiance Casey Jones, Matthew Scott and wife Brandy and Madison Johnson and husband Caleb; great-grandchildren, Callie, Millie, Stella and Willa Mae Mosley, Ava, Joel and Benjamin Harrison, Triston Scott and Izzy Johnson; two brothers, Bobby Blevins and wife Mae and Louie Blevins and wife Glenda; three sisters, Wanda Young and husband Bernie, Ruth Garland, Judy Benson and husband Jim.

A service to honor the life of Beulah Blevins Hambrick will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral with Mr. Louie Blevins and Mr. Jon Harrison officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Louie Blevins. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M. prior to the service on Saturday.

The graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Roselawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Johnson City, TN. Pallbearers will be Josh Reifert, Chris Mosley, Jonathan Harrison, Jordy Harrison, Matthew Scott and Caleb Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews and staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery no later then 10:45 A.M. on Monday.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Lisa Jones, Kristy Allen, Judy Deloach and staff at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

MOUNTAIN CITY - Richard Michael 'Mike' 'Club" Blevins, age 67, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

He was born on September 7, 1949 to Earlene Cress Blevins and the late Dick Blevins. In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, David Edward Blevins.

Mike was a contractor for many years and in 1978 he opened his own restaurant in Mountain City, Mike's Bar-B-Que. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed his guns and reloading his own ammunition.

In addition to his mother, Earlene; Mike is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Sarah Blevins of Leland, NC; special friend like a son, Robbie Bradley of Elizabethton, TN, Boy Dog, two nieces, Nikki Blevins Sawyers and Brandy Blevins Childester, mother of his son, Beverly Blevins of Lottsburg, VA; and many, many special friends.

BRISTOL, TN - Drema L. Tester, age 61 went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 29, 2022 in Bristol, TN. Drema was born on September 13, 1961 to the late Harry Douglas Humphrey and Betty Blevins Humphrey in Johnson City, TN. Drema was a homemaker and wonderful mother and Nonnie. She was loved by so many and never met a stranger. Drema had a wonderful personality, great sense of humor, and a loving and caring heart. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jerry “Duck” Humphrey. Those left to cherish Drema’s memory include her children, Amy Tester, Caleb Tester, Hannah Tester, and Cori Tester her siblings Rocky Humphrey and Kimberly Osborne and her Grandchildren Jacob Tester, Gracie Tester, Desmond Locket, Brooklynn Canter, Braden Howard, Braxton Howard, Kaylynn Smith, Marlee Salters, Kynzlee Tester, Emory Simmons, Karson Smith, Rhealynn Tester, and Baker Tester.
