"Funeral services for William Holsclaw, 69, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Rader Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Gene Petty officiating. Mr. Holsclaw died Tuesday in a hospital in Longview, Texas. He was a native of Tennessee and a former member of the Merchant Marines. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Holsclaw, of Charleston, South Carolina, and Freddy Holsclaw, of Atlanta, Georgia; his father, John C. Holtsclaw, of Johnson City, Tennessee; two sisters, Mrs. Berniece Cable, of Pendleton, South Carolina, and Mrs. Effie Whitehead, of Hampton, Tennessee; and two brothers, Cline Holtsclaw, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Reece Holtsclaw, of Charleston, South Carolina."

OHNSON CITY -- Cline H. Holtzsclaw, 88, 1105 Sevier St., died Monday,
Jan. 6, 2003, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Holtzsclaw was a native of Carter County and had been a resident of
Johnson City most of his life.
He was a son of the late John C. and Celia Whitehead Holtzsclaw.
Mr. Holtzsclaw retired from General Mills in 1979.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Brotherhood Bible
Class.
Mr. Hotlzsclaw was an avid gardener, woodworker, beekeeper, orchid grower
and wine maker.
He had been active with the Orchid Society of East Tennessee, Washington
County Beekeepers Association and was instrumental in the development of the
Friendship Gardens.
Mr. Holtzsclaw was a graduate of Science Hill High School and attended
Milligan College.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Reece Holtzsclaw and Will
Holtzsclaw; and one sister, Effie Whitehead.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Holtzsclaw of the home; one son, Bill
Holtzsclaw, Gray, Tenn.; one daughter, Cheryl Holtzsclaw Buck, Bristol; one
sister, Bernice Cable, Marion, N.C.; one grandson, David Holtzsclaw, Johnson
City; two granddaughters, Susan Holtzsclaw, Gray and Amber Wood, Pacifica,
Calif.; one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Holtzsclaw, Johnson City.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Jan., 8, 2003, at 7 p.m.
in the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home with Baron Eliason
officiating. Graveside committal services will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003,
at 11 a.m. in Monte Vista Burial Park.

Cline married Lena Gasteiger about 1935. Lena (daughter of William H. Gasteiger and Lillie Bell Loveless) was born about 1916; was buried in Monte Vista Memorial Park, , Washington County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Ms. Bernice Holtsclaw Cable, age 96 of Marion, passed away peacefully at Autumn Care of Marion during the early morning hours of Sunday, July 07, 2019. A native of Elizabethton, Tennessee, she was born on June 21, 1923 to the late John and Zealie Holtsclaw.

A member of Grandview Baptist Church, Bernice was known to have a love of crocheting, fishing, and traveling. Her family describes her as having been a wonderful cook. Bernice loved her family and especially her canine companion, Kenny. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Cable.

Left to cherish her memory are a special niece, Gloria Whitehead; five siblings, Dimple Holtsclaw, Effie Holtsclaw Whitehead, Cline Holtsclaw, Reese Holtsclaw and William Holtsclaw; one sister-in-law, Mary Morefield (Bill); and her four brothers-in-law, Alan Fincher (Melodi), Everette Cable (Genevia), Gerald Cable (Helga), Eddie Cable (Jenny) and Donald Cable (Faye). She also leaves behind special friends, Marie Wiggins, Veronica Wiggins, Jessie Hensley, Paul Presnell, and Barbara McFarland, who she thought of as a daughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
