    Joseph Lewis “J.L.” Troutman, 91, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, from his residence. J.L. was born June 14, 1929 in Roan Mountain to the late Hezekiah T. Troutman and Delia Heaton Troutman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Stanley, and his brothers and sisters.
    J.L. retired from Overnite Transportation after 38 years of service and was a member of St. John Freewill Baptist Church in Roan Mountain. J.L. was a member of the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge #566.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Jean Mitchell Troutman, of the home; his daughters, Kathy Henson and husband Arland and Donna Burleson; his grandchildren, Erica Crouse and husband Billy, Abbey Henson-Ives and husband Daniel and Andrew Henson; a great-granddaughter, Penelope Rae Ives; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Dorthy Heaton and Willie Troutman.
    A graveside service to celebrate the life of J.L. Troutman will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, in the Johnson Roan View Cemetery in Roan Mountain with Rev. Randy English and Pastor Wesley Duncan officiating. Active pallbearers will be Arland Henson, Andrew Henson, Daniel Ives, Billy Crouse, Robert Heaton and Ronnie Heaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Tipton, Steve Dyer, Barry Stocton, Larry Gouge, Tim Barnett, Wayne Hughes and Eddie Hughes.
