Mrs. Ida Snyder Pardue, age 94, of Camp Joy Road, Zionville, passed away Tuesday afternoon. She was a daughter of the late Ira Washington and Elizabeth Amanda Dowell Snyder. Ida was a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, taking care of her grandchildren and family, and reading her Bible. She attended Antioch Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Grindstaff and husband Danny of Mountain City, Helen Pardue of Zionville, Patsy Courtner and husband Jerry of Mountain City, and Wanda Eldreth and husband Bobby of Boone, three sons, R. C. Pardue and wife Pat, Billy Ray Pardue and wife Bitha Lou and Danny Pardue and wife Christina all of Zionville, one sister, Flora Hess and husband John of Mountain City one brother, Claude Snyder of West Grove, PA, sixteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Will Pardue, two sons, Ronnie Pardue and J. C. Pardue and wife Frances, two sisters, Annie Morefield and Fannie Wilson, and five brothers, Charles, Stanley, Arthur, Eddie and John Snyder.

Ida married Will Albert Pardue about 1940. Ora L. May, age 70, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. Ora was born on November 2, 1950 to the late Clint Lipford and Edith Lipford Segnor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael May; mother-in-law, Carrie May; sister, Carolyn Conway; brothers, Larry Lipford, Dale Lipford, Delbert Lipford, Roy Gene Lipford and special nephew, Mark Potter.

Ora was a dedicated wife of 47 years and a loving mother and grandmother who was a devoted Christian that loved the Lord and her family, especially her only grandson, Philip. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She loved her church, church family, and ladies circle. Her hobbies included encouraging others on Facebook and the color by number game on her phone.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Linda May Hammons and husband Darrell, Freida May Gwinn and husband Keith; sisters, Mary Dunn, Gladys Wade; brother, Jay Snyder; grandson, Philip Dugger; nieces and nephews who were more like siblings, Reta Eller, Wanda LaGamba, Eric Potter, Johnny Potter, Luke Potter, and several other nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Central Baptist Church. The funeral service followed at 7:00 with Pastors Rick Thomason and Shannon Courtner officiating. The graveside service and burial were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Reece Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Clay Neely, Brandon Dunn, Larry Dunn, Scottie May, Luke Poteet, and Josh Poteet. Honorary pallbearers were Marvin Arney, Tim Lipford, Ronnie Lipford, Eddie Lipford and Jon Mink.

Billy Ray Pardue died August 26th, 2019. He was born February 27, 1951 in Watauga County. Billy was an active member, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Antioch Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN. He honorably served four years in the US Air Force and seventeen years in the Army National Guard. Billy retired as a master diesel mechanic for Hollar & Greene Produce. A Christian gentleman, Billy loved his God, family and country. He considered his family his greatest gift and was a loved and respected husband, father and grandfather. He was the best 'PawPaw' to his grandchildren whom he referred to as 'the children God gave him.

Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bitha Kirby Pardue; sons, Jason Pardue and wife, Teresa of Vilas and Jared Pardue of Zionville; daughter, Jessica Greene and husband, Jonathan, of Zionville; grandchildren, Colton and Cadence Greene, Isabella, Adalae and Samuel Pardue; brothers, R.C. Pardue and wife Pat and Danny Pardue, all of Zionville; and sisters, Margaret Grindstaff and husband, Danny, of Mountain City, Helen Pardue of Zionville, Patsy Courtner and husband, Jerry, of Mountain City, and Wanda Eldreth and husband, Bobby, of Todd. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie and J.C. Pardue and sister-in-law, Francis Pardue.

Funeral services held at Antioch Baptist Church in Mountain City, TN, officiated by Rev. Kenny Ray Vaught and Rev. Dwayne Tester. Graveside services with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 130 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Zionville, NC.

Roy “Buck” Salmons, age 76, passed away on November 22, 2022 at his home. Buck was born in Ashe County, NC on January 28, 1946 to the late Reba and Walt Salmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Hollie Greer and Lura Salmons; grandson, Jason Dugger; great granddaughter, Bel Reece and several aunts and uncles.

Buck enjoyed working on cars, motorcycles, bowling, and playing horse shoes and card games, especially poker. He was a millwright for many years and at one time was a newspaper editor. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Buck was a kind a generous man who would do anything for anybody, if he could. He was loved by all that knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, wife Brenda Salmons; children, Angie Salmons Potter of Laurel Bloomery, Joe Salmons of Valley Forge, Christine Abernethy (David) of Mtn. City, Bucky Salmons of Trade; son-in-law, Rob Boucher; grandchildren, Brad Boucher, Blake Boucher, Justin Dugger (Vanessa), Jennifer Reece (Derek), Jordan Salmons, Charlie Salmons, Destiny Salmons, Ivy and Cooper Abernethy; special friends, Ronnie McDaniel, Sue “Hooty” Dugger; several great grandchildren and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastors Frank Woods and Jeff Stout officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Timothy Joe Mahala, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Tim was born on February 13, 1960 to the late Joseph “Joe” and Ancil Mahala.

Tim, also known as “Moola”, was a friendly and happy person who was always smiling. He enjoyed collecting things, especially movies, and going to thrift stores. He was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memories include his brothers, Gary Mahala and Doug Mahala; nieces and nephews, Dylan Mahala, Alex Mahala, Jessica Hunt (Jason); great niece and nephew, Julia Hunt and Jordan Hunt; cousins, Joe Osborne, who was like a brother, Steve Osborne, Sue Osborne, Buck Salmons, and Sandy Osborne.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Berrey Dunn officiating. The graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at the Mahala Family Cemetery in Ashe County, NC. Pallbearers will be Eric Hill, Tim Smith, Danny Jones, Jack Pennington, Nathan Ladd, and Jeff Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Salmons, Joe Osborne, and Steve (Ozzy) Osborne.
