Viola "Vi" Jane Barcel, age 71, Erwin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by her family. She lived most of her life in Erwin and was a daughter of the late Dewey and Myrtle Whittimore McInturff. Vi was employed by the Unicoi County Highway Department. She was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred and Dave McInturff; three sisters: Mary Nelson, Thelma Ray and Dot McInturff; nephew, Steve McInturff; great niece, Megan Hulse; sister-in-law, Margie McInturff.
Vi leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Ashley Barcel, of the home; one son, Mike Barcel and wife, Valerie, Unicoi; one brother, Bob McInturff, Johnson City; four sisters: Jean Roberts, Johnson City, Peggy Johnson and husband, Johnny, Unicoi, Kathy Reavey and husband, Mike, Crowley, TX, Val Robinson and husband, Rich, Gettysburg, PA; one grandson, Mason Barcel; four nephews: Scott McInturff, Rick McInturff, Sean Reavey and Chris Robinson; nine nieces: Sharon Gardner, Wanda Vance, Connie Booth, Teresa Phillips, Kathy McInturff, Angie Roberts, Donna Gibbs, Robin Johnson and Cindy Jordan; several great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law: Leona McInturff, Johnson City.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tim Broyles and Reverend Phillip Garland will officiate at the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Active pallbearers will be Mike Reavey, Rich Robinson, Scott McInturff, Justin Jordan, Mark Anderson and Rick McInturff. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Johnson, Sean Reavey and Chris Robinson. Committal service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday in the McInturff-Barnett Cemetery.
