    Garfa Peterson, age 85, Green Mountain, NC, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Poplar, NC, and a son of the late Jerry and Idella Miller Peterson. Mr. Peterson was an electrician. He was a member of the Poplar Freewill Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Donna Marie Silvers.

    Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy Bryant Peterson; one step-son, Norman Pate and wife, Katrina of Erwin; four brothers, Harvey Peterson and wife, Ernestine, of Erwin, Jack Peterson and wife, Betty, of Johnson City, F. C. Peterson of Erwin and Everette Peterson and wife, Bobbie of Erwin; five sisters, Velva Landers of Erwin, Gertrude Street of Johnson City, Eleanor Poole of Erwin, Emmaline Miller of Burnsville, NC, and Wilma Jean Reedy and husband, Jerry, Hanover, PA; two grandsons, Daniel Beam and Justin Pate; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Tony Miller and wife, Angela, of Poplar, NC.

    The family of Mr. Peterson will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 P. M. from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Roger Hilemon will officiate. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Committal Service will follow in the Miller Cemetery, Poplar, NC.

    ERWIN - Harvey Peterson, age 88, Erwin, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. He was a son of the late Jerry and Idella Peterson.

    Harvey was born and raised in Poplar, NC but had lived most of his life in Erwin. He served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran.

    Harvey retired from Hoover Ball in 1995 after thirty plus years of service. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed trout fishing, camping and family gatherings of any kind. He was a faithful member of Erwin Full Gospel Tabernacle and served as pastor for several years.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Garfa, Jack, and Everette Peterson; one sister, Emaline Miller.

    Harvey leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of sixty-four years, Ernestine Johnson Peterson; three sons: Jerry Peterson (Kay), Benny Peterson (Lisa), Mark Peterson (Tracey); one daughter, Sharon Jones (Kirk); nine grandchildren: Aaron, Jeremiah, Joshua Peterson, Sarah Hyder, Benjamin Peterson, Jordyn Norwood, Katelyn Parnell, Brooklyn & Kolby Jones; five great grandchildren: Hannah & Haley Peterson, Bayleigh Hyder, Lila Grace Parnell, Easton Norwood; one brother, FC Peterson; four sisters: Gertrude Street, Velva Landers, Eleanor Poole, Wilma Jean Reedy; two sisters-in-law: Bobby Sue Peterson and Betty Peterson; numerous nieces and nephews.

    The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Wiegand, Dr. Missick and the team at Fresenius Kidney Care, JCMC ICU and 5200 wing nurses, Kindred at Home, Avalon, and Brighter Days Homecare.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Thursday, May 6, 2021 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Special friend and pastor Andre’ Head will officiate at the 6:00 PM funeral service. Music will be provided by Allan Foster. Pallbearers will be Aaron Peterson, Jeremiah Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Benjamin Peterson, Kolby Jones, Kirk Jones, Zach Norwood, and Wil Parnell. Honorary pallbearers will be the men at Erwin Full Gospel Tabernacle, and Austin Green. Committal service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday May 7, 2021 at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery New Annex.

    F.C. Peterson, age 81, Heaven brightened when F.C. Peterson of Erwin, passed on January 3, 2022. As one of ten children of the late Jerry and Idella Peterson, F.C. was born on December 25, 1940, in Poplar, NC.
    F.C. married the love of his life when he married the late Elaine Edwards Peterson. Their lives forever changed when their only child, Matthew Shane Peterson, was born in June 1971. F.C. and Elaine made every sacrifice possible so that Matthew could excel and graduate from UT Medical School in 1997. F.C. was a man of profound faith who did not know a stranger. From the time of his marriage to Elaine, he attended Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist Church on Spivey Mountain where he served as a Deacon for many years.
    F.C. retired from Hoover Precision Products after several years of service. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard. F.C. loved to travel and was able to experience many wonderful countries all over the world with his family.
    F.C. is survived by his son, Matthew and son-in-law, Jason W. Miller of Atlanta, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Ella G. Miller of Boone, NC. Also surviving is Gretchen Lewis of Unicoi, TN who was like a daughter to F.C. He is also survived by his sisters: Velva Landers of Erwin, Gertrude Street of Johnson City, Eleanor Poole of Erwin, and Wilma Jean Reedy of Salem, Virginia.
    F.C. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of forty-three years, Elaine Edwards Peterson; brothers: Garfa Peterson, Harvey Peterson, Jack Peterson, and Everette Peterson; his sister, Emaline Miller.
    F.C. once said it best when he said he had preached his own funeral each day of his life. In consideration of that sentiment, a receiving of friends will be held on Thursday, January 6, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside committal service will be performed on Friday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Tommy Hensley of Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist Church.
