    Notes:

    Mac Donald Merritt, 88, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019, at the V.A. Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home. A native of Elizabethton, he was the son of the late Worley and Lula Ritchie Merritt.
    Mac retired as Captain from the Elizabethton Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church. Mac enjoyed attending the men's breakfasts at First Christian Church, Elizabethton; mowing; washing his car; going to the lake and spending time with his family and friends. Following his retirement he loved visiting the fire hall and talking with other firemen.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emmaleen Marshall.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Debbie Winters and Robyn Merritt, both of Elizabethton, and Melody Moore, Elberton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Misty Winters, Martin Winters, Brandon Moore and Andrew Moore; two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Winters and Andon Winters; a nephew, Kenneth Marshall; a special friend, Charlotte Nave; and caregiver, Bethany Turbyfill.
    A graveside service to honor the life of Mac Donald Merritt will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Thursday for the graveside service.
