    Notes:

    William Floyd Pope, age 82, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at his home. Floyd was born on June 4, 1936, in Ashe, County, NC to the late Ennis and Delphia Mahala Pope. In addition to his parents Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Melvina (Eastridge) Pope, who passed on March 7, 2012; brothers, Omery, Harlan and Roy O. Pope and sisters, Marie Mahala and Beulah Allen.

    Floyd was retired from United States Army with 20 years of service. He had also worked as a Dispatcher, Jailer and Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department. Floyd and his wife enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center where he delivered meals on wheels. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

    Floyd is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Carol Pope Mahala and Ron of Ashe County, NC, Teresa Darlene Pope King and David of Knoxville, TN and Brenda Annette Pope Philhower and Cliff of Elkton, MD; sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Floyd Pope and Peggy of Trade, TN, James Dale Pope and Elizabeth Christine of Mountain City, TN and Alexander Drew Pope and Virginia of Mountain City, TN; sisters, Geneva Hines and Louise Simmons; son-in-law; Kenneth E. Roark, Jr. of Greenville, TN; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; honorary grandchild, Madison Blevins, several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Mountain City Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastors Billy Morefield and Sam Lawson to officiate.

    Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow from the Pope Family Cemetery, Sprucey Lane, Mountain City, TN. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    Robert Golden Osborne, age 81, of Zionville, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 30, 2022, in Mountain City, TN. He was a native of Ashe County, NC, and was born on June 8, 1941, in Creston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Golden and Emmer Mahala Osborne; three brothers, JR Osborne, John Fate Osborne, and William Tracy Osborne; four sisters, Cressie Osborne Blevins, infant Mona Lee Osborne, Shirley Jean South, and Wilma Dare Dunn.

    Robert had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand. In his younger years, he worked in PA, Delaware, and Illinois for a short time. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a 31-year employee of Thomasville Industries in Lenior. His hobbies were playing the guitar, auto mechanics, fishing, and coin collecting. He was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church in Creston.

    Survivors include his wife, Jolene Baumgardner Osborne, of the home, two sons, David Osborne of Boone and Danny Osborne of Zionville, two grandsons, Luke Osborne of Mountain City, TN and Daniel Osborne of Valle Crucis, two step-sons, Jason Phipps of Trade, TN and Jonathan Phipps of Yadkinville, three step-grandsons, Daniel Russom of Boone, Bryan Phipps of Charlotte and Dylan Phipps of Zionville, one step-granddaughter, Nora Russom of Zionville, sister-in-law, Brenda Osborne of West Grove, PA, brothers-in-law, David Lawrence of Mountain City, TN and Douglas Lawrence of Dryden, VA. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

    Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Three Forks Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jonathan Eggers, Rev. Mark Wagg, Rev. JB Shelton, and Rev. Spencer Roark officiating. Burial will follow in the Mahala Cemetery.

    Norma Jean Price, age 75, of Rock Creek, Rd; Creston, NC passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 28, 1944 in Ashe County, NC to the late Eldon Mahala and Ella Mahaley Mahala. In addition to her parents Jean was preceded in death by sisters, Margie Lynn Mahala, infant, Linda Mahala; brothers, Howard Mahala, infant Ralph Mahala.

    Jean graduated from the Riverview High School. She enjoyed embroidering and traveling. Jean was a member of the Rock Creek Baptist Church.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 44 yrs. Bruce Price, daughters, Anita Price and Emily Mahala, sisters, Trudy Norris of Kennett Square, PA and Lesia Bryant of Abingdon, VA, brothers, Bruce Mahala of Mountain City and Ricky Mahala of Abingdon, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    Funeral service will be held Wednesday December 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from the Rock Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Roark officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral from the Mahala Cemetery, Rock Creek Rd. Creston, NC. Pallbearers will be Keith Roark, David Roark, Toby Bryant, Brian Roark, Robert Price and Tim Prince.
