    BAKERSVILLE, NC - Robert "Bobby" Lee Jenkins Jr, 71, of the Buladean Community, Bakersville, NC, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his home. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Martha Honeycutt Jenkins.

    Bobby was a member of the St Paul Free Will Baptist Church, a former Mitchell County Commissioner for 12 years, a farmer, millwright, and the "acting mayor" of Buladean, NC. He was a former employee of Mason Dixon Trucking. His love for God and family was always first in his mind. He showed love for his friends and community by his many acts of kindness, his honesty and integrity.

    Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara Honeycutt Jenkins; sons: Toby Lee Jenkins and wife Billie of Mill Springs, NC and Dr. Tim Douglas Jenkins and wife Katie of Johnson City, TN; brothers: Douglas Jenkins of Johnson City, Dr. Roger Jenkins of Knoxville, TN, Tony Jenkins, and Lester Jenkins of Bakersville, and half brother, Donald Jenkins of Maryland; 5 grandchildren: Madison, Lindsey of Mill Springs, and Ella Kate, Ethan and Eamon of Johnson City; second father, Jack Street of Bakersville.

    Funeral services will be 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in the St Paul Free Will Baptist Church with Scotty Jenkins, Roger Laws, Jimmy Arrowood and Gordon Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the Middle District Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Mark Jenkins, Thomas Jenkins, Sean Jenkins, Johnathan Jenkins, Aaron Jenkins, Kenny Butler and Robby Gouge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Dale Whitson and Dr. Sinisa Haberle.
