    MRS. ADDIE SLIMP WAGNER...
    ... 75, wife of J. M. (Tice) Wagner, died unexpectedly at 3 p.m., one day last week. A native of Johnson County, he was a member of the Vaughts Gap Baptist Church.
    Survivors other than her husband, include three daughters, Mrs. Tyler Wilson of Mountain City, Mrs. George Kyle of Media, Pa., and Mrs. Oscar Fritts, Neva; one son, Claude Wagner of Neva; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Robert Matheson of Bristol.
    Funeral services were held at the Vaughts Gap Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Monday, with Rev. Theodore Robinson, Rev. Emory Lewis, and H. T. Mabry officiating. Burial followed in the Brown Cemetery at Neva.
    Flower bearers were members of the Adult Ladies class of the church, and pallbearers were the friends.
    Hill Funeral Home in charge.

    Notes:

    Mr. Claude Edward Wagner, age 91, of 603 Maple Road, Mountain City, TN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in High Point, NC, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday evening, June 17, 2009.

    He was the son of the late James "Tice" and Addie Slemp Wagner and was a Charter Member of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church where he was a deacon and helped with the building of the church. His hobbies included gardening and yard work and he loved watching westerns. He especially enjoyed visiting all his neighbors.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Wagner, in May 2009; three sisters: Nell Fritts, Maude Dal Medo and Hattie Wilson.

    Survivors include: three daughters: Brenda Putman and husband A. G. of Sophia, NC; Nancy Lewis and husband Ivan and Wanda Cox and husband Chris, both of High Point, NC; one son: Larry Wagner and wife Fran of High Point, NC; eight grandchildren: Sandra Flynn of Belews Creek, NC; Alan Putman and Jonathan Manring, both of Winston-Salem, NC; Tammy Lewis, Jason Lewis and Mark Wagner, all of High Point, NC; Angie Burney of Thomasville, NC; and Wrenn Cox of Richmond, VA; eleven great grandchildren: Abbi Thomas, Caitlin Thomas, Emma Manring, Grace Manring, Bailey Wagner, Sidney Wagner, Garrett Putman, Wayne Lewis, Jaiden Lewis and Kelsi Heilig, and Janae Deslanders; and one nephew: Barton Fritts.

    Funeral Services for Claude Edward Wagner will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Vaughts Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Bryant and Rev. Frank Johnson officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

    Active pallbearers will be Jason Lewis, Jonathan Manring, Mark Wagner, Wrenn Cox, Alan Putman and Steve Rhymer. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Humphrey, Leon Bryant, Josh Bryant, Barton Fritts, Estel "Sid" Mains, Edward Stansberry and Dean Stout.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.

    MOUNTAIN CITY — William Barton 'Bart' Fritts, age 76, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Johnson County Community Hospital.

    He was born on June 14, 1935 to the late Oscar and Nell Wagner Fritts.

    In addition to his parents, Bart was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Fritts, and a brother, Glenn Fritts.

    Bart was a former United States Postal Chief and was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

    Bart is survived by his wife, Edith Fritts; daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette and Leon Humphrey of Watauga, TN; grandchildren: Robert McIntyre and wife Crystal, Tiffany Crawford and Leon Humphrey Jr., all of Elizabethton, TN and Vance Crawford and wife Jessica of Telford, TN, Virginia Andes of Greeneville, SC; great grandchildren: Dominic, Jaden, Jaren, Elijah, Brianna and Jacob Carter.

    The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Ricky Campbell and Pastor Norm Reece to officiate.

    Graveside Service and Interment with Military Honors will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Dyson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard, who will also be serving as active pallbearers.

    Honorary pallbearers are the men of John Payne's Sunday School Class: John Payne, Ray Payne, James Lefler, Sonny Roberts, Jim Vincill, Bob Miller, Jim Bishop, Farris Thomas, Pat Greene, Dannie Dunn, Blaine Stout, Tony Cardi, Carnis Crotty, Todd Grayson, Bruce Wilson and all of Bart's Hardee's Friends with whom he ate breakfast with and visited with every morning.
