Emma Mae Hall, 83, Route 4, Mountain City, died Thursday at her residence December 27, 1990 following an extended illness. She was a native of Johnson County and a daughter of the late William and Sarah Forrester Hammons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Hall, who died in 1957 and also two sons, Charles Hall and Ervil Hall and four daughters, Susan Hall, India Hall, Phyllis Woods, and Ella Mae Church. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Harley Hall and Estel Hall, both of Mountain City; Boyd Hall, Greensboro, North Carolina; four daughters, Lenetha Bumgardner, Ruby Price, Wanda Martin and Jaunita Jennings, all of Mountain City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Percy-Hux Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Stout officiating.
Burial followed in the Hammons Cemetery.

Mary Ellen Brown, age 94, of Mountain City, TN went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Mountain City Care Center.
She was born May 22, 1919 to the late Millard Jethro Hammons and Mattie Virginia Stewart Hammons. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Johnson County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Brown, by her son, Albert Brown, and by sisters Gladys Arnold and Marie Hall. Mrs. Brown was a member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, and especially enjoyed word search puzzles.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Farmer and husband Earl of Mountain City, TN, grandchildren Randy Farmer and wife Betty of Damascus, VA, Rita Horne and husband Mike of Wetumpka, AL, Rick Farmer and special friend Lawrence Dietrich of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Farmer of Mountain City, TN, step great-grandson Brandon Lipford of Damascus, VA, great-grandchildren Jared Horne, Matthew Horne, Casey Sutherland and Tripp Farmer (father-Mike Farmer), great-great grandchildren Haley Green, Allison Green, Chloe Sutherland and Gage Lipford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to recognize special friends Nell Arnold and family and the late Lillian Hawkins and family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2014 from the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Joshua Giddings and Daniel Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
The graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Dunn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Farmer, Jack Hall, Blake Sutherland, Willie Hammons, Boyd Hammons and Bill Hammons. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Jones, Dr. Susanne Shine and Dr. Raina Sluder. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mountain City Care Center for the excellent care they provided.

Boyd Martin Hammons was cured of all sickness and called home to be with the Good Lord on November 17th, 2019. He was surrounded by his devoted family. He was born to the late B.C. and Ruth Hammons on June 24th, 1931. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son- David Hammons, brother- Ray Hammons, and sisters- Nina Mae Hammons and Faye Hall.

Until they can meet again, he leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Bessie Hammons, daughter and favorite son-in-law- Ruthann and Paul Sajdak, granddaughter Emily Sajdak & fiancé- Alex Cumbow, sister and brother-in-law Anna Mae and Jack Knight, plus many special friends and family.

Boyd was always a hard-working man. He had a humble heart and enjoyed serving others. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea until 1955. He then married Bessie and began his life as a loyal husband, loving father, and faithful Christian. He loved tending to his garden, working around the house, walking, and visiting with friends. He loved his family fiercely and unconditionally and especially loved spoiling his granddaughter Emily. He always enjoyed a good laugh and could put a smile on anyone's face. He also enjoyed his sweets, but mostly ice cream. Boyd was a good man and will truly be missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 1pm-3pm on Thursday November 21, 2019 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 3pm with Buddy Morefield and Chuck Stewart officiating. Mike Taylor will lead the singing. Graveside services will immediately follow at Hammons Cemetery.

Ruby L. Price, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday evening, September 7, 2018 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was born on October 2, 1934 in Shouns, TN, Johnson County to the late Mack Hall and Emma Mae Hammons Hall. In addition to her parents Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Price, sisters, Susan Hall, India Hall, Phyllis Woods, Ella Mae Church, Wauntia Jennings, Lenitha Bumgardner and Wanda Martin, brothers, Charles Hall, Ervil Hall, Harley Hall and Estel Hall.

Ruby was a loving Mother and grandmother. She was a friend to many and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Ruby had a deep faith in Jesus and lived her life for him. She enjoyed her flowers and being with her animals, raising chickens, rabbits and various other animals.

Ruby was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Ruby is survived by two sons, Jerold Price and wife Kathy and Ricky Price, one brother, Boyd Hall, grandchildren, Dustin Price and wife Andrea, Amanda Potter and husband Dwayne, Carrie Reece and husband Billy, great grandchildren; Waylon Price, Madison, Mason and McKeena Potter, several nieces, nephews and cousins, special great nieces, Natasha and Tamara, special friends, Ginger Greer, Jean Potter, Faye Hall, Nacho and Pome.

Glenn Darrell Hammons Sr., age 80, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 9, 1940 to the late Sam Hammons and Maxie Willen Hammons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Hammons, Fred Hammons, and Larry Hammons.

Glenn was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family. He lived for his Lord and Savior and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.

Ella Mae McCulloch, age 78, passed away on December 7, 2022 at Mountain City Care Center. Ella Mae was born May 6, 1944 to the late Sam and Maxie Hammons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, James “Jim” McCulloch and brothers, Larry Hammons, Fred Hammons, Frank Hammons, and Glenn Hammons.

Ella Mae was a long time member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved the times that her and Jim had together, especially sitting on their back porch. She also loved watching Tennessee football and basketball.

Willie D. Hammons, age 75, left this life and entered his heavenly home on Monday, October 8, 2018.

He was born on October 4, 1943, the son of the late Ernest and Edith Hammons of the Forge Creek Community.

Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 51 years, Naomi Blevins Hammons, their son, Alan Hammons and wife Sonya, and their daughter Rebecca Dietrich and husband Marc; siblings, Jean Chappell, Lynn Hammons and wife Sue, and Larry Hammons and wife Sharon; six wonderful grandchildren whom he cherished dearly, Michael Kirby, Austin Norris, Alison Dietrich, Ethan Dietrich, Oren Hammons and Eli Hammons and many nieces and nephews on both the Hammons and Blevins side of the family.

After graduating from ETSU in 1969, Willie worked in the Johnson County School System for 37 years as a teacher and Director of the Vocational Program. He had a vision to enhance the construction program by purchasing property on which to build and sell homes. He worked diligently to establish this successful program before his retirement in 2006.

Willie spent his retirement years farming and raising cattle. He worked passionately and had a successful Braunvieh cattle farm with his son, Alan. Willie served his community well. He was a lifelong member and Elder of Hammons Chapel Christian Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He loved serving the Lord in any way he could.

He recently took on the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Doe Mountain Recreation Authority. He had a desire to allow people to enjoy the beauty of Johnson County through the responsible development of Doe Mountain.

Willie enjoyed spending time with friends and family and enjoying life. He was a member of The Young at Heart Square Dance Club for many years. He also enjoyed going to the Senior Center and visiting with his friends.

After retirement, Willie and Naomi traveled to several different countries and much of the United States including Alaska and the US Virgin Islands. They especially enjoyed visiting Israel and Austria.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Senior Center or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 1-4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Giddings officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral at the Dunn Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Lewis, Travis Lewis, Kevin Hammons, Phillip Chappell, Jimmy Chappell, Brandon Hammons and Rick Curd. Honorary pallbearers are Men of Hammons Chapel Christian Church, Clarence Braden and Jake Lewis.

Sandra Darlene Church Patrick, age 68 of Creston, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born on March 15, 1951 in Neva Community, Johnson County, TN to the late John William Church and Ella Mae Hall Church. In addition to her parents Sandra was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Ann Reece.

She enjoyed crafts, sewing, bird watching, yard sales and especially gardening.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 51 years, James Earl Patrick, sons, Bill Patrick and Scott Patrick and wife Wendy, grandchildren, Donovan, Dalton, Alex and Isaac Patrick, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery (located on Little Laurel Road, Creston, NC) with Pastor Wade Huntsinger to officiate. Pallbearers will be Donovan Patrick, Dalton Patrick, Alex Patrick, Isaac Patrick, Chris Williams and Rick Williams.
