Mrs. Bradley was a native of Johnson County. She was the daughter of the late Wheeler C. Howard and Loretta Howard. In addition to her parent's two husbands, Charles H. Conley, Sr. and Albert Bradley also preceded her in death. She worked for Leon Ferenback of Johnson City and was a nursing assistant in Sacramento, California for eleven years. Mrs. Bradley was a sixty-six year member of Central Baptist Church. She was a member of the Margaret McNeese Sunday school class. She was a member of the Nolachucky, Grand View Chapter 194 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include: one son, Charles Harvey Conley, Jr. and his wife Janette; two grandsons; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Rose Cooper. A graveside service for Mrs. Nell H. Bradley will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Dr. Janice Shelton will officiate. JOHNSON CITY - Louise Pierce Good, age 91, of Johnson City, TN passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023 in the Hermitage Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born to the late Ezekiel Pierce and Maude Kyte Pierce.

Louise was a graduate of Elizabethton High School Class of 1950. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, camping, visiting with others and spending time with all her grandchildren. She loved her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Homer Good; sister, Isabelle Littleton; brother, O.B. Pierce; great-grandson, Mikey Conley and great-great grandson, Parker Roark. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Richard Good (Marlene), of Elizabethton; daughter, Georgette Stewart (Dan), of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Darlene Conley, Danette Roark and Danny Stewart; great-grandchildren, Haley Johnson, Nicholas Conley, Nathan Roark, Jacob Stewart and Melissa Stewart; great-great grandchildren, Kloey Johnson, Kinsley Johnson, Lucas Conley and Blayke Roark and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Louise will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Pastor Louie O’Bourke officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service on Thursday.

The graveside service and interment will follow in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers are George Conley, Nick Conley, Bobby Roark, Michael Jenkins, Danny Stewart and Nathan Roark. Minnie Frances Arnold, age 93, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on January 4, 1925 to the late Felix B. Mink and Effie Pearson Mink. In addition to her parents Frances was preceded in death by her husband Rev. George F. Arnold; daughters, Nancy Brewer and Helen Morefield; twin sister, Pearl Proffitt; several half-sisters and half-brothers; grandchild, Devin Morefield; sons-in-law, CR Roark and James Morefield and nephew, Jerry Dugger.

Frances was a gifted quilter and made many beautiful quilts through the years. Like most people of her generation she also farmed and raised vegetable gardens, which she loved. Frances also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, singing and reading her Bible. After her health declined she was not able to do a lot of these things but she still enjoyed watching some of the old shows on television, especially The Waltons. She was a member of Pine Mountain Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hicks was employed at Elizabethton Steam Laundry for several years and retired from the Laundry Department of Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was of the Baptist Faith. She loved to quilt, crochet and cross stitching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis G. Hicks, February 13, 2000; two sisters, Darlene Hampton and Ruby Hicks; and two brothers, Art and Howard Grindstaff.

Howard was born November 27, 1932 in Elizabethton to the late Alfred & Etta Pearce Grindstaff. He was known for his outgoing personality and his story telling. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Howard was known for his wood working skills. He retired from Mapes Piano String Company. Howard was an avid UT Vol Fan. He was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Art Grindstaff; and two sisters, Ruby Hicks and Darlene Hampton.

He was a native of Butler, Tennessee, but resided in Johnson City since 1948.

Mr. Morley was born in Carter County, Tennessee, a son of the late Ernest P. Morley and Nellie Campbell Morley. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. He retired from First Peoples Bank and was a member of First Methodist Church of Johnson City.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morley was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Blevins Morley; and two sisters, Trula Archer and Vera Hale.

He is survived by one brother, Kay Morley and wife, Nancy, of Limestone, TN; two sisters, June Higgins and husband, E.J., of Jonesborough, TN, and Bonnie Schenkl and husband, Alfred, of Florence, S.C.; two brother-in-laws, Clayton Hale and Edsel Blevins and wife, Louise; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Garland Thayer officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Mr. Morley was a member of Albright United Methodist Church.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a Supervisor for Thomas Industries and E.Z. Painter. He was a member of the Limestone Ruritan.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Luster Morley, Limestone; two sisters, June Higgins, Jonesborough and Bonnie Schenkl, Florence, SC; and several nephews and nieces.

MOUNTAIN CITY - Loretta Jo Woodard, age 79, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on February 1, 2019 at her home, surrounded by family, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on May 15, 1939 to the late Haynes H. and Euna Fritts Howard. In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James 'JC' Woodard and brother, Haynes Howard Jr.

Loretta was a gifted cook. She loved cooking and loved recipe books almost as much. She believed in taking care of each other and was always doing things for others. She has been there for many family members and friends through the years and when her husband JC became ill, she was there day and night, taking care of him. She loved her family very much, especially her grandsons.

Loretta was a member of Nelson Chapel Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter and son-in-law, Kimbrly Shaw and husband Steve; grandchildren, Devin Shaw and Tyler Shaw; special friends, Jean Wilson, Paula Manuel and members of her Nelson Chapel Sunday School Class.

ELIZABETHTON - Pennye Darlene Campbell Cable, 75, Elizabethton passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Willard & Edith Maxine Johnson Campbell. Pennye was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a former Carter County School Bus Driver and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 17. Pennye was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elwood Cable, a son: Vonell Chris Cable and a sister: Andrea Beth Campbell.

Survivors include a son & daughter-In-law: Marty & Crystal Cable. A Granddaughter & her husband: Callie & Ethan Miller. A Great-Granddaughter: Alex Paisley McKinney. A Brother-In-Law: Terry Lewis. Several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Cable officiating. Leonard George Arnold, age 51, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center. Leonard was born December 16, 1970, in Boone, NC to the late George and Minnie Frances Arnold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ethel Potter, Helen Morefield, and Nancy Brewer; brothers-in-law, James Morefield, and C.R. Roark.

Leonard was a gifted and talented musician, able to play many different instruments. He enjoyed woodworking, and tinkering with things, and had made several instruments.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 20 years, Lesa Arnold; step-children, Andrew Wallace, and Jenna Wallace; sisters, Brenda Reece (Barry) of Mountain City, Melissa Rupard (Jeff) of Laurel Bloomery, Julia Roark of West Grove, PA; brothers, Gene Arnold (Vicki) of Oxford, PA, Jim Arnold (Connie) of Mountain City; brother-in-law, Don Brewer; several nieces, nephews, and his little dog, Tug.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at First Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastors Greg Poe and Gary Hill officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at the Greene Cemetery. Sue Calloway Hyder, 77, Johnson City went to be with her Lord Sunday February 9, 2020 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and Mosella Pierce Calloway.

She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. Sue was a certified Dental Assistant. She had served as a substitute teacher, having taught at several schools . She also had worked in the Carter County Trustee Office. She was a member of the Watauga Point United Methodist Church. Her hobby was her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Hyder.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years: Carmon "Ray" Hyder. Three Children: Timothy Wayne Hyder (Lisa Hatcher), Carmon Alecia (Roland) Banks and Christopher Lee (Beth) Hyder. A daughter-in-law: Kim Hyder. Her brother: Dallas "Butch" (Lou) Calloway. Ten Grandchildren: Lacey Whaley, Lindsay (Jordan) Vance, Lauren Hyder, Kelly (Frankie) Casteel, Josh Hyder, Caleb Hyder, Katie Hyder, Sam Hyder, Sophia Hyder and Roland Banks, Jr. Three Great grandchildren: Kaden Casteel, Owen Casteel and Jamie Whaley. Several nieces, nephews & cousins.

ELIZABETHTON - Dallas Wayne “Butch” Calloway, age 77, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was a son of the late Dallas and Mosella Pierce Calloway and was born on October 24, 1945 in Washington County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Hyder. Butch was a United States Air Force veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of Watauga Point United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his many memories include his wife of fifty years, Elizabeth “Lou” Whittington Calloway; two daughters, Kristy Wagner (Trafton) of Knoxville, TN and Jennie Barber (Tim) of Lafollette, TN; five grandchildren, Hunter Wagner, Chloe Wagner, Jack Bean, Mille Bean and Molly Bean.

A service to celebrate the life of Dallas Wayne “Butch” Calloway will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 7, 2022 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Mike Berry and Pastor Lou Miller officiating. HAMPTON - Jerry Wayne "Ollie" Oliver, age 66, of Hampton, went to his heavenly home surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Jerry was born in Carter County to the late Edward H. and Para Potter Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie H. Oliver; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clyde and Hazel Fuller.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a brick and block mason by trade and attended Hampton Christian Church. Jerry loved playing guitar, working on his old cars in his garage, and spending time with his friends. He left his imprint throughout the region with the homes he built and the businesses he built and operated.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Kathy Fuller Oliver, of the home; two son, David Oliver and wife Michelle, of Gray, TN and Charles Oliver and wife Deidra, of Erwin; a brother, Bill Oliver and wife Kathy, of Hampton; a sister, Wanda Marlow and husband Buck, also of Hampton; seven grandchildren, Sophie, Malorie, Riley, Keara, Kaleace, Charlie Beth and Jace; one brother-in-law, Jeff Fuller; three sisters-in-law, Stephanie Rowe and husband Chris, Carolyn Fuller, and Jennifer Treadway and husband Wes; and a special friend, Betsy Rainbolt. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Jerry Wayne "Ollie" Oliver will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Dwayne Calhoun and Rev. Ronnie Campbell, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Jackie "Jack" Thomas Oliver, 72, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, from his residence. Jack was born in Carter County to the late Howard and Beatrice Smith Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Oliver and Jackie Oliver, and a sister, Billy June Roark.

Jack was a strong, independent and hardworking man, who was also stubborn but always willing to help others and was always there for his family. He had worked at North American Rayon and also as a mechanic at Fred's BP Station. Jack was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching movies, westerns and football.

Those left to cherish his wonderful memories include his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Brenda Coleman Oliver, of the home; three sons, Anthony Oliver, Lawrence Oliver and wife Lisa, and Russell Oliver, all of Elizabethton; a brother, Rick Oliver of Elizabethton; two sisters, Shelby Calhoun and husband Dale, and Beatrice Snider and husband Dave, all of Elizabethton; four grandsons, Austin Boyd, Russ Boyd, Josh Oliver and Ronnie Carr, all of Elizabethton; and one granddaughter, Aleignia Oliver of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephew also survive.
