    Notes:

    Claude Hamby, age 75, 249 Campbell Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, died at his residence, Wednesday, July 12, 2006, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Barney and Martha Ashley Hamby. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
    Claude Hamby was a loving husband, dad, papaw and father-in-law. He was a friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He loved gardening and watching wrestling.
    Mr. Hamby was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of the Carter County Highway Department, after twenty-three years.
    Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-three years, Lucille Campbell Hamby, of the home;
    a loving daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Rev. Jude Hughes, Roan Mountain; loving sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Brenda Hamby, Frank and Kathy Hamby, Carroll and Peggy Hamby, Richard Hamby and Fiancée Sharon Vargo, Jay and Carol Hamby, Joe and Mary Ann Hamby, all of Roan Mountain, Mark Hamby and girlfriend Renee Buchanan, Newland, NC,
    Wayne and Melissa Hamby, Johnson City, Keith and Ann Hamby, Charlie and Beverly Hamby, both of Elizabethton; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Lorene and Bill Conner and Pauline Moore all of Roan Mountain; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Jay and Sarah Hamby, Roan Mountain and Burnette Hamby, Elizabethton. He had twenty-one grandchildren that meant the world to him and six great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 PM, Friday, July 14, 2006, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jude Hughes and Rev. Jim Storie officiating.
    Music will be provided by Rev. Jude Hughes. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday prior to the service.
    The graveside service and interment will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 15th in Isaacs Cemetery, Buck Mountain community, Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be Michael Hughes, Jonathan Hughes, B.J. Hughes, Benjie Hughes, James Cardwell and Joey Mavers.
    Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. A special thank you to Adventa Hospice of Elizabethton, staff and nurses for all your help through this hard time. Also a thank you to Home Health Care of Elizabethton.

    Notes:

    Carroll Hamby, 61, of Roan Mountain, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, at home with family by his side.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Hamby, and a son, Brian Wesley Hamby.
    Carroll is survived by his mother, Lucile Hamby; his wife, Peggy Whitson Hamby; three sons, Charlie Whitson (Lisa), Greg Whitson (Joey) and Carroll "Doodle" (Christy"); and five grandchildren, Randall, Skylar, Devin, Cody and Brian. He is also survived by nine brothers and one sister, Michael (Cindy), Frank (Kathy), Richard, Mark, Wayne (Melissa), Jay (Linda), Tina Hughes (Jude), Keith (Ann), Charlie (Beverly) and Joe; and many nieces and nephews.
    Carroll was a loving, caring husband, dad, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family gatherings and holidays.
    He had just recently retired from Property Management of Sugar Mountain. He loved working on cars, but most of all he loved his family. Hambone you will truly be missed!!
    Services for Carroll Hamby will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, Tenn. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 13, in the Hamby Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Austin, Brian, Alan and Martin Hamby, Doug Davis, David Stevens, Joshua Horney, Tony Malphurs and Chad Street. Honorary pallbearers will be his loving brothers.
