    Janice Lea Hawkins age 85, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Lakebridge, A Waters Community in Johnson City, TN. She was born in Creston, NC on November 16, 1937 to the late Paul McNeil and Nell Osborne McNeil. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Hawkins; sisters, Jean Arnold and Lola Laxton; and a brother, Jerry McNeil.

    Janice was a 1955 graduate of Johnson County High School. She married Dayton shortly afterward and they moved to Pennsylvania where they made their home for several years. After returning to Mountain City she lived in her current home for the rest of her life. Janice loved the Lord and was good Christian woman. She was selfless, caring, and loved doing things for others. She was adventurous and enjoyed traveling, the beach, sitting in the sun, and ice cream. She also liked to garden and can the vegetables she grew. Janice was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was a GA leader and a faithful member of the Golden Circle Sunday School class. She loved her family and church family dearly and will be greatly missed.

    Those left to cherish her memories include her daughters, Sherry Hawkins and Sandra Wilson; sister, Nancy Gurley; brother, Tom McNeil (Karen); grandchildren, Jessica Lunceford (Michael),

    Dylan Nichols (Katherine), and Kaitlyn Nichols; great-grandchildren, Sarah Presnell and Bella Presnell; special friends, Wanda and Larry Motsinger, Judith Shull, and Barbara Simcox; and several nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Icenhour officiating. Music will be under the direction of Christina Lewis. The graveside service will follow the funeral from the Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Lewis, Jeff Gurley, Hunter Hess, Tony Townsend, Samuele Wilson, and Steve Mooberry. Honorary pallbearers are Lance Hammons, Keith Wilson, and Larry Motsinger.

She was born February 02,1940 to the late Paul McNeil and Nell Osborne McNeil. She was also proceeded in death by a son; Edward Thomas, a brother; Jerry McNeil, and a sister; Jean Arnold
    Ms.Laxton was a Registered Nurse
    Lola is survived by a son; Terry Kyte and wife Glenna of Bristol, TN
    2 sisters; Nancy Gurley, Bristol, TN and Janice Hawkins, of Mountain City, TN
    Brother; Tom McNeil and wife Karen, Daytona Beach, FL. Grandson; Joshua Kyte, Blountville, TN. and great grandson Keaton Kyte. several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Memorial Services will be held Sunday, November 28th 2021 at 12 pm. From the Shouns United Methodist Church Cemetry.

    Howard Keith Blevins, age 74, of Shady Valley, TN lost his battle his battle with cancer on Thursday, January 3, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 23, 1944 to the late Danta "Ped" and Mildred Reece Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Sallie Richardson Blevins and maternal grandparents Home and Winnie McNiel Reece who were like parents to him.

    Keith was a faithful member of Shady Valley church of Christ. He was retired from Tennessee Eastman and had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Keith was a fun-loving man who dearly loved his family, friends, fishing, gardening, the outdoors and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to others. His smile and happiness were contagious to everyone he met.

    Keith leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Eileen Steagall Blevins of the home; daughters: Katana Blevins and Angela Barrett, both of Bristol, TN and Wendy (Tony) Spencer of Shady Valley, TN; son Teddy "Tater" (Joannie) McQueen of Shady Valley, TN. Also surviving are brothers Ronnie "Bill" Reece of Papilllion, NE and Stuart Blevins of Damascus, VA; sister Carol Weaver of Bristol, TN and cousin like a brother Tom Reece. Grandchildren Nicholas VanHook, B.K. Barrett, Ethan McQueen, Chance McQueen, Noah McQueen and a host of friends also survive.

    The family would like to express their appreciation to his friends and family and especially Mark Gentry for helping provide such excellent care to Keith during his illness.

    Funeral services for Keith Blevins will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019 from the Shady Valley church of Christ with Mr. Daniel Koen and Mr. Tom Reece officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Military graveside service accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will follow in Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley, TN. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Honaker, Mark Gentry, Earl Jenkins, Clifford Watson, David Wallace, Forrest Blevins and Larry Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be Haskell McQueen, Jim Sherman, Jim Eller, Daniel Jones, Jeff Lemay and Jim Spencer.
