    Charlie N. Sheets, 87, 289 Jim Range Road, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the residence.

    He was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late Benjamin and Lula Greer Sheets. Mr. Sheets had worked for Tauscher Roofing and in construction most of his life. He attended Living Word Church of God in Gray.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Hicks Sheets, in 1998; a brother, and four sisters; and his best buddy, his dog, Bear.

    Survivors include three daughters, Pansy Carver, of Greeneville, Lori Castell and her husband, Michael, of Jonesborough, and Pennie Watts and husband, Lonnie, of Gray; a son, Charlie "Buddy" Sheets and his wife, Mildred, of Jonesborough; four brothers, Frank, Kenneth, George and Glenn Sheets; sisters, Betty Cox, Brenda Pritchard and special sister, Mary Murray; ten grandchildren, Tracy Greene, Joni Price, Samantha Barnett, Ben Sheets, Debra Barkley, Connie Lowe, Christine Mounds, Angela Hale, Tim Carver and special granddaughter, Jessica Watts; eighteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Peggy Hicks; special friend, Earl Barnett; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Funeral services for Mr. Sheets will be conducted at 7:00 PM Friday, April 19, 2013, in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, with Rev. Steve Guinn and Rev. Doug Wagner officiating.

    Charlie married Sylvia Alice Hicks on 9 Jul 1949 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee. Sylvia (daughter of Andrew Sherman Hicks and Betsy E. Davis) was born on 4 May 1929 in , Avery County, North Carolina, ; died on 20 Jun 1998 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Cherry Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee.     ELIZABETHTON - Wanda Louise Chesser Blevins, 86, Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born April 21, 1935 in Johnson City to the late Monte & Mae Sheets Chesser. She was a homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt and work with crafts. Mrs. Blevins was a member of First Baptist Church but attended Valley Forge United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Blevins who passed away July 19, 2008, by two brothers: Alfred & Harold Chesser and a sister, Mary Benfield.

    Survivors include her sons & daughters-in-law: Carter & Terri Blevins and C.J. & Leslie Blevins all of Elizabethton. A daughter: Christine Hardin, Johnson City. Four Grandchildren: Sarah Putland & husband Steve, Abigail Blevins, Brock Morell and Tatum Morell. Her Sisters: Eunice Hicks and Peggy Hicks both of Jonesborough, a brother: MD Chesser, Elizabethton. Her special friends: Shirley Fender, Dorothy Little, Hester Layne, Barbara Anthony and Ruth Barnett.

    Graveside Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

    ELIZABETHTON - Montie "Earl" Chesser, age 59, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his beloved home. He was born in Carter County, Tennessee.

    Earl enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 18, and devoted 4 years to serving our country. After retirement from the armed forces, Earl returned to Carter County to pursue his career, and natural talent as a Diesel Mechanic. Earl was a 'Good Ol' Country Boy" in every sense of the term. It didn't matter if Earl was fishing, shooting guns, or driving around enjoying the natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, he was always enjoying life's simplest pleasures.

    He is survived by his only child who was his pride and joy, Amanda Thrift also known as Brute or Bae throughout her childhood years; his former spouse, Cindy Chesser; five brothers, M.D. Chesser, Robert Benfield, Dale Benfield, Alan Benfield, and Danny Ray Benfield; six sisters, Peggy Hicks, Unise Hicks, Louse Blevins, Connie Henry, Willma Benfield, and Mary Sparks, who all reside in East Tennessee.

    Earl will continue to be loved and forever missed by his family, friends, and beloved cat, Noodles.

    A Committal Service and Inurnment will be held at 1:45PM Friday, April 12, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933.

    Lula Faye "Pansy" Sheets Carver was born in Johnson City, TN on April 7, 1950. She entered Heaven's gates on February 2, 2019.

    Pansy's faith carried her through life and all the trials and tribulations it had to offer. She gained her strength from the Lord.

    A loving mother, mamaw, sister and friend. Pansy spent many years living in the country, working side by side with her family on their farm. She showed tremendous strength and instilled these qualities in her children during long days spent in the tobacco and hay fields.

    She was a selfless, loving mother and mamaw who sacrificed everything for family. She had a passion for gardening, canning, and cooking. Many people knew her from Gage's Market and the Buc Store in Boone's Creek where she worked for many years.

    Pansy adored her grandchildren and spent countless hours loving them. She will be missed terribly by her family and friends, but leaves a legacy of love for all that knew her.

    The family would like to thank the staff at Franklin Woods Community Hospital for always caring for our Mom with love and respect.

    Pansy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Sylvia Hicks Sheets.

    She is survived by her son, Tim Carver; three daughters, Debra Barkley, Angela Hale, and Connie Carver; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Mounts; a brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Mick Sheets; a sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Mike Casteel; a sister and brother-in-law, Pennie and Lonnie Watts; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

    The Carver family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the Dogwood Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Vic Young. A committal service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends who wish to be part of the procession should arrive at Morris-Baker Funeral Home by 10:15 am. All others should gather at the cemetery by 10:50 am.

    Active pallbearers will be Pansy's grandsons, Austin Carver, Andrew Carver, Josh Carver, Jeremy Clark, Michael Carver, Lee Mounts, and Phillip Mounts. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Kiersten Barkley, Callie Barkley, Kattie Lowe, Kassie Lowe, and Alyshea Hale.
