    Mr. W. M. Tolley, age 84, died at his home Route 1, Hampton, Saturday morning at 2:40.
    Mr. Tolley was a life long resident of Carter County and a member of the Little Doe Church.
    Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Laura Tolley; one daughter, Mrs. Kirk Simerly, of Hampton; one son, Steve, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Charles Tolley, Hampton; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the Little Doe Church with Rev. Virgil DeLoach officiating, assisted by Rev. J. R. Cates.
    Burial will be made in the Simerly-Collins Cemetery.

    John A. Tolly, age 56, died at his home in Hampton, Tuesday morning at 4:45 after an illness of several months.
    Mr. Tolley[sic] was a native of Carter county and an employee of N.A.R. Corp. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist church.
    Survivors: wife, Mrs. Rosie Tolley; one daughter, Mrs. Hazel Davis; one son, Clyde Tolley; five grandchildren; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Tolley; one sister, Mrs. Bunie Simerly, all of Hampton; one brother, Steven J. Tolley, Baltimore, Md.
    The body will be removed from the Roy Hathaway Funeral Home to the home Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Little Doe Freewill Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, with the Rev. George Westmoreland and Allan Cates officiating. Burial will be made in Simerly cemetery.

    CLYDE TOLLEY
    Clyde Howard Tolley, age 29, died at the St. Elizabeth Hospital this morning at 3:45 o'clock.
    Tolley, a native of Carter county, was a former employee of the North American Rayon Corporation.
    Survivors are his wife, Nell Arwood Tolley; two sons, Mutt and Don; one daughter, Wanda; mother, Mrs. Rosa Tolley; one sister, Mrs. Shields Davis; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Tolley.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Little Doe church on Simerly Creek Friday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. John Hall, Rev. Stephen Grigsby and Alan Cates officiating.
    Burial will be made in Collins Cemetery.
    Active pallbearers will be Earl Johnson, Charlie Jackson, Dave Tolley, Ed Bass, George Wagner, and Zeke Tolley.

    Mrs. Hazel T. Davis, 99, formerly of Hampton, Tenn., passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton.
    A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosa Kemp Tolley.
    Mrs. Davis retired from the Coning Department at North American Rayon Corporation. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shields A. Davis; three sons, Terry "Poon" Davis Sr., Wayne Davis Sr. and Kenneth Grindstaff; two grandsons, Wayne Davis Jr. and Terry Davis Jr.; and a brother, Clyde Tolley.
    Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Betty Maggart, Johnson City; a son, Jim Davis and wife Lisa, Hampton; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Davis, Hampton; and a niece, Wanda Hyder, Elizabethton.
    A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Hazel T. Davis will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating.

    Mrs. Carver was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Kirk and Bunnie Tolley Simerly. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Carver, November 2, 1995, a sister, Christine Whitehead, and two brothers, Fred Simerly and Ernie Simerly.
    Mrs. Carver was a member of the Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church.
    She was a member of the Hampton Chapter #470, Order of Eastern Star.
    Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lois Carver, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Byrd Deadrick, Hampton; two granddaughters, Lorie Ann Burleson, Elizabethton, and Mary Sue Seay, Johnson City; and a great-granddaughter, Sabrina Daun Burleson, Elizabethton.

    SIMERLY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Simerly Carver, 80, 188 Simerly Creek Road, Hampton, who died Sunday, January 7, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters and the Rev. Jerry Honeycutt officiating. The Victory Singers will provide the music. Graveside services and interment will be at
    11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, in the Simerly Cemetery.

    ELIZABETHTON - Roger Carver, age 78, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    Roger was born in Elizabethton to the late Howard and Lorene Simerly Carver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Deadrick.

    Roger retired from Snap-On Tools and had previously driven a truck for Newton Transportation. He was a United States Army veteran and was a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church, where he was a former trustee of the church and was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School class. Roger loved to tinker with his Jeeps, enjoyed cars, loved being in in the mountains and spending time with his family and friends.

    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Lois Carver, of the home; six nieces, Alice Marie Pendergast (Mike), of NC, Ann Taylor (Javy), of Elizabethton, Debbie Bishop, of Johnson City, Joyce Salyer (Roy), of Elizabethton, Lisa Pierce (Phil), of Kingsport, and Karen Southerland (Brian), of Nashville; one nephew, Michael Southerland (Joan), of Jacksonville, FL; one sister-in-law, Virginia Grindstaff, of Elizabethton; five brothers-in-law, Owen Grindstaff and wife Dee, John Lewis, Marvin Grindstaff, Bill Milhorn, and Byrd Deadrick and wife Ellen, all of Elizabethton. Several great nieces and nephews also survive, as well as two special friends, Harry B. Crowe and Bill Fritz.

    A service to honor the life of Roger Carver will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Eric Heaton, officiating. Music will be provided by Dale Williams and Joyce Salyer. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday.

    The graveside service will follow in the Ensor Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Harry B. Crowe, Byrd Deadrick, Bill Fritz, Javy Taylor, Nicholas Lyons and James Morley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Williams, Glen Ensor, Ken Nidiffer, Tom Milhorn, J.B. Moreley, Brian Mathes, Greg Mathes and Tom Oxendine.
