    She is survived by four sons, Clark Norris and wife Sharon of Conover, Glen Norris and wife Barbara of Butler, Tennessee, Fred Norris and wife Jewel of Boone, Wade Norris and wife Brazilla of Boone; four daughters, Lisa Flynt and husband Tim of Maiden, Jane Phillips and husband Fred of Todd, Margaret Baird of Thomasville, and Rachel "Becky" Winebarger of Boone; one daughter-in-law, Paulette Norris of Elizabethton, Tennessee, and one son-in-law, Paul Townsend of Banner Elk. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Denver Norris; one daughter, Mary Helen Norris Townsend; one son, Walter Norris; two sisters, Hazel Hicks and Ella Mae Hicks Yates; seven brothers, Jack, Albert, Sam, Dale, Paul, Cecil and Bob Hicks; and one son-in-law, David Winebarger.

    Funeral services for Bessie Helen Hicks Norris were conducted Wednesday afternoon, at 1:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.

    The body was view at the chapel, from 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Pastor Burl Greer and a grandson, Joel Norris.

    Thomas Cecil Hicks, 86, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at W. G. Hefner VA Medical Center.

    Born April 10, 1924 in Sugar Grove, NC, he was the son of the late Lilly Arnette Hicks and Thomas Grant Hicks.

    Mr. Hicks was educated in Watauga County schools. A WWII Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded the Victory Medal, he was employed by North Carolina Department of Transportation.

    He was a member of Community Baptist Church and was a former member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church where he was an active volunteer in the Bus Ministry.

    Preceding him in death was a son Tim Wade, who died July 19, 2010.

    Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Lola Jones Hicks, whom he married October 30, 1966; sons, Larry Hicks (Lois) of TN, Gary Hicks (Elizabeth) of Vilas, NC, David Hicks (Sandy) of Marion, Robert Hicks (Shirley) of Vilas, Thomas Hicks (Debbie) of Thomasville, Justin Hicks of Lexington; daughters, Mary Strange (Henry) of Concord, Vivian Hawkins (Bobby) of Kannapolis, Cecilia Isenberg (Paul) of Richfield, Mary Short (Dion) of China Grove; sister Helen Norris of Watauga County, who is the last of 14 siblings; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

    Visitation: 7-8:30 PM - Monday, October 25, 2010 at Community Baptist Church.

Vines of Ohio and J.D. Cook, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral services for Martin B. Bennett will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. James Strickland and the Rev. Wesley Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Ranshaw officiating.     Myrtle was a dedicated, strong mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She loved to read, cook, do jigsaw puzzles, and travel when she was able. She loved her family and welcomed anyone to her home to enjoy her amazing cooking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Grant Bennett, Darius Bennett, Claude Bennett and Barney Bennett Mr. Bennett was a former employee of Raytheon Corporation and of North American Rayon Corporation with thirty four years of service, before retiring from the Abrasive Technology Company in Watauga. He was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church and loved fishing, woodworking, building things with his hands, and he loved his granddaughter. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Wanda R. Oliver Bennett, of the home; two daughters, Paula Dillon and husband, Robert Jr., and Susan "Sue Sue" Williams and husband, Jeff, both of Elizabethton; one son, Mickey Bennett and wife, Sandra, Elizabethton; one very special granddaughter, Bethany Williams, Elizabethton; one brother, Martin Bennett and wife, Ruby, Hampton; two sisters, Myrtle Rudy, Sulphur Springs, and Jane Ward, Jonesborough; four sisters-in-law, Jane Bennett, Elizabethton, Nadine Ward, JoAnn Ward and Lois Vines, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Bennett will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Richard Thomason, Minister, officiating. A eulogy will be provided by his son, Mickey Bennett. Music will be under the direction of Donna Ellis. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Saturday, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will follow in the Pearl Bowers Cemetery in the Blue Springs Community.     JOHNSON CITY - Farrell Bennett, 76, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his residence, following a brief illness.

    Farrell was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City.

    He was a son of the late Harrison and Georgia Pearl Arnett Bennett.

    Farrell was a 1959 graduate of Lamar High School, and later received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1975, and a Master's Degree in Accounting in 1979, both from Steed College.

    He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving four years in Anchorage, Alaska, then two years in the Air Force Reserves.

    Farrell was employed with Holston Army Ammunition Plant, retiring after thirty-two years of service, then returned for five years after Holston Army Ammunition Plant became BAE Systems, "re-retiring" in 2007.

    He was a longtime member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendant and teacher, and was the assistant van driver.

    Farrell loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf, putt-putt, spending time in the mountains, and served as an usher for the University of Tennessee at home football games for the past nineteen years.

    In addition to his parents, Farrell was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer, Roy, Henry, Richard and Clyde Bennett, two sisters, Sara Humphreys and Ann Barnett.

    He is survived by his wife of more than fifty-one years, Brenda Barber Bennett; two sons, Hershel Farrell Bennett and wife Gabrielle, Alpharetta, GA, and Anthony Lynn Bennett and wife Liz, Kingsport; five grandchildren, Bronwyn, Kensley and Braeden Bennett, Alpharetta, Evie Kate and Brendan Bennett, Kingsport; four brothers, John and Mickey Bennett, Oregon, Ray Bennett, R.C. Bennett and wife Brenda, all of Johnson City; three sisters, Dorothy Ledbury,

    Oregon, Frances Campbell, Watauga, and Nita Rice, St. Simons Island, GA; many, many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family would like to thank Brooks Monroe and Avalon Hospice, for their excellent care of Mr. Bennett.

    The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 7:00 P.M., at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Crowe, Rev. Byrl Fann and Rev. Howard Ray, officiating. Farrell's son, Hershel Farrell Bennett, will Eulogize his father. Special music will be provided by the church trio and The Quillen Family.

    The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00-7:00 P.M., in the Sanctuary of the church.

    The graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M., in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Bristol V.F.W. Post #6975 and members of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 39, Bristol. Nephews and cousins will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Hoare, Hershel Buchanan, the Men of Piney Grove F.W.B. Church, his golf, putt-putt and U.T. football buddies.

    PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Dewey Arnett and his wife, Dorothy Knox Arnett, will be laid to rest in their native Tennessee.
    Dewey Arnett was born in Carter County to Pettibone and Maude Williams Arnett. Dorothy Arnett was born in Cumberland County to Gooden and Mary Ford Knox. Both died peacefully in a nursing home in Port Orange, Fla., after enjoying 67 years of devoted marriage. Dorothy died on January 21, 2016 at age 89 and Dewey on March 9, 2016 at age 96.
    Dorothy is survived by Bob Field and wife Wanda and a host of other family members.
    Dewey was preceded in death by brothers, Fred, Orville, Archie, John, Henry, Bill and Wayne, and sister, Hassie Arnett McKeehan.
    He is survived by one brother, Herb Arnett; half brother, Ned Arnett; half sisters, Mary Belle Arnett Davis, Linda Arnett McDaniel and Bertha Arnett Asher; and many nieces and nephews.
    Both Dewey and Dot were avid pilots and being instrument rated, flew their plane in many competitions with Dot having many trophies in her bookcase.
    Dewey was a WWII vet, serving four years in the Army Air Corps in the European Theater. Upon discharge he entered the University of Tennessee and received his degree in vocational agriculture with a teacher's certificate in 1949. He received his master's degree from Indiana University shortly thereafter. Dewey taught high school vocational agriculture in southern Indiana until his retirement at age 65.
    During WWII, Dot worked in the Secret City, Oak Ridge, Tenn., helping with the Manhattan Project. After marriage, Dorothy worked many years for a leading mortgage company in Louisville, Ky., supervising the Southern Indiana branch and was the only licensed employee qualified to close on VA and FHA loans.
    Friends are invited to join family at a graveside service with full Military Honors on Thursday, March 24, at 10:45 a.m. at the VA National Cemetery at Mountain Home, Johnson City, Tenn., officiated by Lay Minister, Deacon and nephew of Dewey Arnett, Tony McKeehan.

    James Edward (Jim) Arnett, 60, 232 Mosier Road, Johnson City, passed away suddenly Monday, November, 12, 2007, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

    He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of the late Edward Long Arnett and Pansy Swanner Arnett, of Johnson City. Mr. Arnett was a construction worker and a heavy equipment operator.

    Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his loving wife, Mary Cole Arnett; four sons, James Arnett and his wife, Carolyn, Blaine Arnett and his wife, Alyssia, Brad Arnett and his wife, Andrea, and Edward Arnett and his girlfriend, Renee Elliot; two brothers, Jerry Arnett and his wife, Joyce, and Wallace Arnett, all of Johnson City; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, James Holden and John.

    Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Thursday, November 15, 2007, in the Monte Vista Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jack Maupin officiating. Pallbearers will be Hack Arnett, Rick Arnett, Jakie Ferguson, Brian Ferguson, Tony Casey, Mark Arnett and Paul Bailey. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM then proceed to the cemetery for the service.     ELIZABETHTON - Eula Mae Hodge, age 91, of Elizabethton, TN went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was born to the late James Monroe “Poga” Potter and Sarah Catherine Hopson. Mae was the Administrative Assistant for Laws-Troutman Insurance Company where she later retired. She was active with a group of ladies that would go to the Carter County Jail weekly and have devotions with the female inmates. Mae loved to sew, cook, and take care of others. She was a member of First Christian Church, Elizabethton.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lestol M. “Sid” Hodge and brother, James M. “Bud” Potter. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Densford and husband Orris, of Elizabethton; two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Oaks and Leota Holsclaw, both of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Anna Marie Densford, of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was the daughter of the late, James “Poga” Monroe Potter and Sarah Catherine Hopson Potter. Leota retired as a Medical Secretary for Dr. Eugene Galloway. She was a member of Elizabethton Church of Christ and Graduate of Elizabethton High School. She enjoyed going to Elizabethton ballgames, traveling, entertaining, cooking and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
    In addition to her parents, Leota was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Willie Holsclaw; brother, Bud Potter; sister, Eula Mae Hodge and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Eddie Holsclaw and wife Amber and Jeff Holsclaw and wife Vanessa, all of Elizabethton; three granddaughters, Jessica Trivette and husband David, Summer Mosley and husband Christopher, Katie Rosario and husband Danny; two grandsons, Noah Holsclaw and Josh Reifert and wife Melissa; eleven great- grandchildren, Halle, Luke, Levi, Miles, Callie, Millie, Stella, Willa Mae, Selah, Nala and Jade; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Oaks, of Elizabethton; two special nieces, Teresa Densford and husband Oris, Nancy Greenlee and husband Jim; special great-niece, Anna Marie Densford and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Music will be held by Elizabethton Church of Christ Congregation. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church.

    JOHNSON CITY - Ted McKeehan, 87, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2021, at Franklin Woods Hospital following a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was born on November 30, 1934, to the late John McKeehan Sr. and Hassie Arnett McKeehan.
    In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by a sister, Rada Perry; brothers, Louis and Terry McKeehan; and sister-in-law, Rita McKeehan.
    Ted was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City.
    Ted graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1953 and attended Milligan College. He proudly served in the United States Army for two years and the Army Reserves for seven years.
    Mr. McKeehan was employed for 25 years at North American Rayon and retired as Plant Manager from PB&S/Brenntag Chemical.
    He was involved with fund raising and coordinating for Habitat for Humanity.
    Ted was an avid golfer, Tennessee Vols fan, and a gardener. He was also very active in sports, serving as a High School TSSAA Basketball official for 35 years and 21 years at the college level serving in the NAIA, NCAA Division I & II. Additionally, he was a high school Assigning Officer for 10 years. He played fast pitch softball until the age of 35. He also coached Elizabethton Babe Ruth Baseball for 14 years.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 30 years, Mary Elizabeth Ward McKeehan of the home; sons, Teddy Wayne and Eddie Eugene (Sherry); daughters, Sherry Ann Hunt (Dave) and Lorri Carver (Ronnie); grandchildren, Brandi Forbes, Whitney Forbes, and Matthew Carver; great-grandchildren, Logan Deakins, Chevy Carver, and Paislee McDonald; sisters, Nancy Verran (Don) and Betty Archer (Ron); brothers, William “Bud” (Loretta), Tony (Jane), Jackie (Kim), and Bobby (Devonna); several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Albert Spaller.

    ELIZABETHTON — Rada Belle McKeehan Perry, 76, Elizabethton, a loving, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John McKeehan, Sr. and Hassie Arnett McKeehan. Mrs. Perry was a 1957 graduate of Happy Valley High School. She was employed as a clerk at the South Elizabethton Utility District.

    She was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Perry; infant daughter, Julie Perry; and two brothers, Terry McKeehan and Louis McKeehan.

    Survivors include two daughters.     JOHNSON CITY — Teddy Wayne McKeehan, 65, of Milligan College, Tenn., passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, following a courageous battle with COVID. He was born on June 10, 1956, to the late Ted McKeehan and Doris Walker McKeehan.
    In addition to his parents, Teddy was preceded in death by Maxie Patton McKeehan, his college sweetheart to whom he was married for over 30 years.
    After graduating from Happy Valley High School in 1974, Teddy played basketball at Steed College and received his BS in History from East Tennessee State University.
    After teaching history and coaching basketball for a few years in Cherokee County, Ga., and seven years at Volunteer High School in Church Hill, Tenn., he and his late wife started McKeehan Lawn Service, which he ran for 37 years.
    Teddy Wayne loved sports and was a diehard Florida Gator football fan. He also enjoyed playing golf with his brother, sister-in-law, uncles, and late father. Teddy was usually willing to go anywhere and do anything as long as it got him out of the house, but especially if it was a trip to Freddy’s for a turtle sundae. Every winter, he enjoyed taking extended trips to Las Vegas and Florida. For his talents in basketball, football, and track, he was inducted into the Happy Valley and Carter County Sports Halls of Fame in 2021. He was loved by all who met him.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Eddie Eugene (Sherry); sister, Sherry Ann Hunt (Dave); nieces, Brandi Forbes, Whitney Forbes and Megan Patton; nephew, Seth Patton; great-niece, Logan Deakins; stepmother, Mary; stepsister, Lorri (Ronnie) Carver; mother-in-law, Wanda Patton; brother-in-law, Jeff Patton (Teresa); aunts, Nancy Verran (Don) and Betty Archer (Ron); uncles, William “Bud” (Loretta), Tony (Jane), Jackie (Kim), Bobby (Devonna) and Howard “Bud” (Phyllis); and girlfriend, Kim Rowe.
