It is with great sadness that the family of Goldie Wallace-Clark announces her passing on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, at the age of 97 years old.

Goldie was born on Simerly Creek to the late Cad and Minnie Young Hyder. She has been a resident of Elizabethton for 78 years.

Goldie received her cap and graduation certificate form the first class of practical nursing of the Johnson City Vocational School on March 20, 1959. She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Carter County Memorial Hospital and Sycamore Shoals Hospital, retiring in 1987.

She and her husband Arnold were dedicated members of the Betsy Squares Square Dancers. They traveled the USA with the group.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased in death by her first husband of 48 years, Arnold Wallace in 1985, a son Eddie Wallace in 1967, a granddaughter Cindy in 2017, brothers, Floyd, Fred, Arnold, Albert and Ralph Hyder.

Goldie is survived by her loving second husband of 30 years, Bill Clark, 2 sons Alton and Romley (Lena), a daughter Wynonna "Donnie" (Bob) Murphy. She is also survived by her husband's children whom she loved dearly, John (Marsha), David (Sue) and Wayne (Sandy) Clark. Grandchildren are Al, Jr., Nathan, Rom II, Wallace, Tammy Petrina, David (Thumper), Judy, Sandra, Robert and Kenneth Murphy. She has 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 2 much loved sister-in-law's, Wilma Wallace Donner and Erma Wallace Burgess.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jacob Guinn officiating. The eulogy will be given by her grandson: Al Wallace, Jr... Interment will follow in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers are David "Thumper" Murphy, Wayne Clark, Matt Clark, Mikey Clark, David Clark, John Clark, Al Wallace, Jr., John Clark, and Rom Wallace, II.

JOHNSON CITY - Thelma Bess Lewis Holt, age 94, of Johnson City, TN passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 in the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Carlton Lewis and Frances Mae Sparks Lewis Jarrett. She was a member of Central Community Christian Church. Thelma was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and quilting, cooking, puzzles and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Brooks Holt, a brother, William "Dusty" Lewis and a half-brother, Garnett "Bud" John Jarrett. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jim Holt and wife Barbara, Lewis Holt, Michelle Gourley, Don Holt and Mark Holt and wife Anita; grandchildren, Seth Holt and wife Sonya, Steve Gourley and wife Kimberly, Carrie Holt, Captain Alayna Holt USAF and Second Lt. Robert Holt USAF and wife Kelsey; a great-grandchild, Madison Gourley; siblings, Carl Lewis and wife Martha Lou, Edna Crumley and husband Tom and Sarah Edwards and husband Garry. Beloved step-brothers, sisters and in-laws and many nieces and nephews as well as special friends, Dr. David Franzus, Dr. Dianne Draper and Kathryn Smith also survive.

A service to honor the life of Thelma Bess Lewis Holt will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Pastor Garry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the funeral service. Private graveside service will be held at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Edna Jarrett Crumley, age 76, of Central Community, Johnson City, TN, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2021 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, Edna was the daughter of the late Robert Sherman Jarrett and Frances Sparks Lewis Jarrett. She was a 1963 graduate of Happy Valley High School and a graduate of East Tennessee State University (B.S., Home Economics Education and M.S., Special Education).

Edna was a teacher for 30 years at Colonial Heights Middle School, Kingsport, TN where she taught Home Economics, Gifted & Talented Program, and was the coach of the Odyssey of the Mind team for many years, reaching the World Championship. She was very involved in the Carter County girls' basketball league with her husband and girls. She was a life-long member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church and taught children ranging from ages 3-17 in Sunday school for more than 40 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bud Jarrett, William "Dusty" Lewis, Fred Jarrett, Foy Jarrett, and by her sisters, Florence Whitehead and Thelma Holt.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 53 years and the love of her life, Tom Crumley (Johnson City, TN); three daughters, Tami Crumley (Hazlet, NJ), Teri Crumley (Johnson City, TN), and Tomi Crumley Black; a son-in-law, Tyson Black and a grandson, Channing Black (all of Kannapolis, NC); three brothers, Frank (Ina) Jarrett (Johnson City, TN), Farrell (Shirley) Jarrett (Mt. Sterling, KY), and Carl (Martha) Lewis (Gray, TN); two sisters, Helen Pate (Gray, TN) and Sarah (Garry) Edwards (Johnson City, TN); a sister-in-law, Sue Jarrett (Johnson City, TN) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Edna is also survived by special in-laws, Carolyn (Jerry) McNeil (Johnson City, TN), Johnnie Lyons (Johnson City, TN), Teresa Lyons (Stoney Creek, TN), Sam McAmis (Watauga, TN), Chris Rosenbalm (Watauga, TN); a nephew Marc (Beth) McAmis (Elizabethton, TN); a special cousin Shirley McGee (Johnson City, TN); a very special friend Stacy Wiseman (Johnson City, TN) and honorary grandson, Eli Wiseman (Johnson City, TN) and her church family at Sinking Creek Baptist Church.

A graveside service to honor the life of Edna Jarrett Crumley will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Garry Edwards and Mr. Phillip Harris officiating. ELIZABETHTON - Donnie Murphy, age 71, of Elizabethton, passed away with her family members by her side on Wednesday, December 18, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Donnie was born in Carter County to the late Arnold and Goldie Hyder Wallace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Wallace.

Donnie was a loving wife and mother and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She retired as an administrative assistant and loved antiques, collectables, traveling and working in her yard tending her flowers.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 35 years, Robert J. Murphy, Sr., of the home; three sons, David A. "Thumper" Murphy, Robert J. "Robby" Murphy, Jr. and Kenneth P. "Butch" Murphy and wife Jennifer, all of Elizabethton; two daughters, Judy Ann Britton, of Granite City, IL and Sandra H. Hoffman, also of Granite City, IL; a special granddaughter, Halea Marie Murphy, along with several addition grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; two brothers, Alton Weaver Wallace, of Elizabethton, TN and Orlando, FL and Romley Boris Wallace and wife Lena, of Jonesborough, TN and Columbia, SC.

At Donnie's request, the family will hold a private entombment.

UNICOI - Linda Joan Campbell, age 78, of Unicoi, TN went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 5, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

She was the daughter of the late Oliver Garland and Madgie Hyder Gilbert. She graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1962. Linda was a faithful Pastor’s wife to Rev. Bobby Campbell for 49 years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and husband.

“A woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her own hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:30-31)

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Bobby Lee Campbell; sister, Betty Moody.

Those left to cherish her memory include husband, Rev. Bobby Campbell of 56 years; grandchildren, Makayla Campbell of Gray, Noah and Dylan Campbell of Unicoi; daughter-in-law, Melissa Campbell Haun of Unicoi; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Janice Campbell of Bakersville, NC.

Active pallbearers will be Noah Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Quentin Arnold, Rick Hyder, Ronald Hyder. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Campbell.

The family of Linda Joan Campbell will receive friends from 5 pm till 7pm on Wednesday August 10th, 2022. The funeral service will follow with, Rev. John L. Stockton; Rev. Terry Jones and Rev. Randy English presiding. Singing will be performed by singers from Morgans Branch Freewill Baptist Church. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday August 11th 2022, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.

JOHNSON CITY - Betty Jean Moody, age 76, of Johnson City, TN went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Oliver Garland and Madgie Hyder Gilbert. She graduated from Tipton High School in North Carolina in 1963. Betty was retired from Baxter Pharmacy and the VA Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Pike and nephew, Bobby Lee Campbell. Those left to cherish her memory include sister; Linda Campbell and husband, Rev. Bobby Campbell of Unicoi; great niece, Makayla Campbell of Gray; great nephews, Noah and Dylan Campbell of Unicoi and their mother, Melissa Campbell Haun of Unicoi.
A graveside service to honor the life of Betty Jean Moody will be conducted at 2:00PM on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Colbaugh Cemetery with Rev. Bob Campbell officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Cathy H. Wagner, age 66, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 05, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family at her residence.

She was born on March 26, 1952 to Helen Pyron Hyder and the late J.H. Hyder. In addition to her father, Cathy was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Hyder.

Cathy was an outdoors person and loved to hunt and fish. She was a former employee of NECC, Texas Instruments and Siemens.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 38 years, Gary Wagner, mother, Helen Hyder of Erwin, TN, step-son, Trafton Wagner and his wife Kristy and their children, Hunter and Chloe Wagner, brother, Tommy Hyder and wife Sherry of Unicoi, TN, very special friends, Aunt Kate Potter, John Blackmore, Sharon Lunceford and her son, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Mountain City Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Winters officiating.
