A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Raymond and Amanda Nidiffer Hyder. Mrs. Byrd was retired from Levi Strauss. She was a member of Siam Baptist Church.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold B. Lovelace; a granddaughter, Ronda M. Lovelace; four brothers, Verl, Burnett, Clay and Haskel Hyder; and a sister, Lillian Nidiffer.
    She is survived by her husband, Ralph Byrd, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Rondal C. and Elizabeth Lovelace of Johnson City; a grandson, David Lovelace, and his wife, Karen, of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Rebecca Lovelace of Greer, SC and Rachel Lovelace-Worley and her husband, David, of Bluff City; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, and Olivia Lovelace, all of Kingsport; two sisters, Lizzetta Pierce and Anna M. Singleton, both of Elizabethton; and two brothers, Jack Hyder of Elizabethton and Charles Hyder of John Day, OR. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

    Minnie married Arnold Benedict Lovelace on 21 Sep 1941 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Arnold (son of Tennessee Lovelace and Mary Ann Hardin) was born on 5 Jan 1919 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 20 Mar 1961 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Anna M. "Ann" Singleton, 93, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Ann was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Cecil and Amanda Nidiffer Hyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Nidiffer and Evelyn Byrd, and six brothers, Clay Hyder, Burnett Hyder, Haskel Hyder, Charles Hyder, Jack Hyder and Verl Hyder.
    Ann retired from North American Rayon Corporation after 44 years of service and was a member of Siam Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics and her flowers. Most of all Ann loved being with her family.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Frank E. Singleton, of the home; her son, Randy Singleton and wife Teresa, Elizabethton; her granddaughter, Laurel Singleton, Elizabethton; a sister, Lizetta Pierce, Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Faye Gould of South Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    A graveside service to celebrate the life of Anna M. "Ann" Singleton will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 18, in the Wilson Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Lack officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from the deacons of Siam Baptist Church, family and friends.

    Jack was a construction worker and farmer. He was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Crowe Hyder, who died October 23, 1996.

    JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Myrtle Bennett Whitehead Rhudy, 89, of Jonesborough, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. The daughter of the late Malley and Lillie Arnett Bennett, Myrtle was born on February 15, 1932.

    Myrtle was a dedicated, strong mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She loved to read, cook, do jigsaw puzzles, and travel when she was able. She loved her family and welcomed anyone to her home to enjoy her amazing cooking.

    She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Don Whitehead in 1980 and second husband, John Rhudy in 2012, brothers, Barney, Darius, Johnnie Claude, Grant, Martin and Clinton Bennett, sister, Jane Ward, sisters-in-law, Helen, Mary and Jane Bennett, brother-in-law, Glen Ward, and daughter-in-law, Jolene Whitehead.

He was the son of the late Malley and Lillie Arnett Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Grant Bennett, Darius Bennett, Claude Bennett and Barney Bennett Mr. Bennett was a former employee of Raytheon Corporation and of North American Rayon Corporation with thirty four years of service, before retiring from the Abrasive Technology Company in Watauga. He was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church and loved fishing, woodworking, building things with his hands, and he loved his granddaughter. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Wanda R. Oliver Bennett, of the home; two daughters, Paula Dillon and husband, Robert Jr., and Susan "Sue Sue" Williams and husband, Jeff, both of Elizabethton; one son, Mickey Bennett and wife, Sandra, Elizabethton; one very special granddaughter, Bethany Williams, Elizabethton; one brother, Martin Bennett and wife, Ruby, Hampton; two sisters, Myrtle Rudy, Sulphur Springs, and Jane Ward, Jonesborough; four sisters-in-law, Jane Bennett, Elizabethton, Nadine Ward, JoAnn Ward and Lois Vines, all of Elizabethton.     JOHNSON CITY - Farrell Bennett, 76, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his residence, following a brief illness.

    Farrell was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City.

    He was a son of the late Harrison and Georgia Pearl Arnett Bennett.

    Farrell was a 1959 graduate of Lamar High School, and later received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1975, and a Master's Degree in Accounting in 1979, both from Steed College.

    He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving four years in Anchorage, Alaska, then two years in the Air Force Reserves.

    Farrell was employed with Holston Army Ammunition Plant, retiring after thirty-two years of service, then returned for five years after Holston Army Ammunition Plant became BAE Systems, "re-retiring" in 2007.

    He was a longtime member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendant and teacher, and was the assistant van driver.

    Farrell loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf, putt-putt, spending time in the mountains, and served as an usher for the University of Tennessee at home football games for the past nineteen years.

    In addition to his parents, Farrell was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer, Roy, Henry, Richard and Clyde Bennett, two sisters, Sara Humphreys and Ann Barnett.

    He is survived by his wife of more than fifty-one years, Brenda Barber Bennett; two sons, Hershel Farrell Bennett and wife Gabrielle, Alpharetta, GA, and Anthony Lynn Bennett and wife Liz, Kingsport; five grandchildren, Bronwyn, Kensley and Braeden Bennett, Alpharetta, Evie Kate and Brendan Bennett, Kingsport; four brothers, John and Mickey Bennett, Oregon, Ray Bennett, R.C. Bennett and wife Brenda, all of Johnson City; three sisters, Dorothy Ledbury,

    Oregon, Frances Campbell, Watauga, and Nita Rice, St. Simons Island, GA; many, many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    The family would like to thank Brooks Monroe and Avalon Hospice, for their excellent care of Mr. Bennett.

    The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 7:00 P.M., at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Crowe, Rev. Byrl Fann and Rev. Howard Ray, officiating. Farrell's son, Hershel Farrell Bennett, will Eulogize his father. Special music will be provided by the church trio and The Quillen Family.

    The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00-7:00 P.M., in the Sanctuary of the church.

    The graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M., in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Bristol V.F.W.     JOHNSON CITY - Rondal (Ron) Clay Lovelace, 78, passed away at his home in Johnson City, TN on May 23, 2021 following an extended illness. He was born to the late Arnold B. Lovelace and Evelyn Hyder Lovelace Byrd on August 30, 1942 in Carter County, TN.

    He had no blood born siblings, but a host of brothers and sisters in Siam where he grew up. His best and long-time friend since they were 4 years old, Ted Hamilton died last summer.

    Ron was a Polio survivor. He graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1960. He was an American Patriot with hopes of getting an Army commission after firing in ROTC at ETSU for 3 years. But during his last physical at Ft. Benning, GA, the effects of Polio showed up, causing the loss of that dream. He had been #1 in his class for marksmanship. Ron worked with the Carter Co. Youth Civil Air Patrol in the early 1960s. He loved working with the Boy Scouts Troup #220 teaching emergency preparedness.

    Ron was the Science Hill Band Booster President several times in the late seventies to late eighties. He was always where his children were.

    He was an Adult Sunday School teacher at Snow Memorial and filled in as Trustee of the church. Now a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church. Ron was a Mason, past Johnson City Lodge and Unicoi Lodge. He was a machine designer, retiring on disability from Texas Instruments in 1992 after post Polio Syndrome took over his body in 1987.

    Ron is predeceased by his parents, daughter, Ronda Michelle Lovelace, stepfather, Ralph Byrd, brothers-in-law Ralph Saylor and Earl Saylor.

    Ron was married to the love of his life, and high school sweetheart for 58 years, 8 months, Elizabeth Ann Saylor Lovelace. He has left to cherish his memory a son, David Lovelace and wife, Karen, daughters, Rebecca Ann Lovelace and Rachel Michelle Lovelace, grandchildren, Ryan Lovelace and wife Jenifer, Megan Lovelace Hall and husband Adrian, Olivia Faith Lovelace and three great- grandchildren, Louella, Elijah and Hudson, Special niece, Elizabeth (Beth) T. Saylor of Seattle WA. whom he thought of as a daughter, special cousins, Pauletta Pierce (Lawrence), Sue Arp (Ron).

She was born to the late James Monroe “Poga” Potter and Sarah Catherine Hopson. Mae was the Administrative Assistant for Laws-Troutman Insurance Company where she later retired. She was active with a group of ladies that would go to the Carter County Jail weekly and have devotions with the female inmates. Mae loved to sew, cook, and take care of others. She was a member of First Christian Church, Elizabethton.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lestol M. “Sid” Hodge and brother, James M. “Bud” Potter. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa Densford and husband Orris, of Elizabethton; two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Oaks and Leota Holsclaw, both of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Anna Marie Densford, of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She enjoyed going to Elizabethton ballgames, traveling, entertaining, cooking and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
    In addition to her parents, Leota was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Willie Holsclaw; brother, Bud Potter; sister, Eula Mae Hodge and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. Music will be held by Elizabethton Church of Christ Congregation. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. prior to the funeral service on Thursday at the church.
    The graveside service and committal will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Todd Houston, minister officiating. Active pallbearers will be Christopher Mosley, David Trivette, Danny Rosario, Michael Greenlee, Adam Greenlee, Alex Jones, Ethan Cannon, Hadley Townsend, Terry Chambers. Honorary pallbearers are Noah Holsclaw, Randy Jones, Josh Reifert, elders/deacons of Elizabethton Church of Christ, John Bo Pansock, Steve Roberts and John Holsclaw Jr.
