ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Irene Gentry Crowe, 96, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the Hillview Health Center.

A native of Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late William and Cora Berry Gentry. She had lived most of her life in Elizabethton. She was a graduate of the Watauga Academy. Mrs. Crowe had worked at several different department stores in Elizabethton. Until her illness she was an active member of Oak Street Baptist Church. She was an excellent seamstress, loved working in her garden, canning, cooking , and loved to quilt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Rev. John W. Crowe, three brothers: Maynard, Harry and Robert Gentry and two sisters; Dorothy Hammonds and Icle Nave.

Survivors include a daughter & son-in-law: Flora & Henry Joy, Johnson City. Two Sons & daughters-in-law: Roger & Cookie Crowe, Elizabethton and Carey & Betty Crowe, Knoxville. Four Grandchildren: Kendra McPherson, Becky Jackson, Brian Crowe and David Crowe. 8 Great Grandchildren. Several Nieces & Nephews including two special nieces: Wilma Shoun and Barbara Blevins. Her special friends: Shelby Medearis and Vi Watson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hendrich officiating. Interment will follow in Butler Memorial Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Brian Crowe, David Crowe, Dustin Jackson, Robert McPherson, Peter Crowe, Sam Crowe, Alvin Woodby and Ben Watson.

The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the entire staff of Hillview Health Center for the excellent care our mother received. Mrs. McCloud was a retired waitress from Dino's Restaurant. She and her late husband formerly operated the Shamrock and Sunset Inn Restaurants for a number of years. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene.

Graveside services were conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Ruth was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene S. Tinker, in 2006, and a sister, Phyllis White.

Mrs. Cora Jane Peters Crowe, 82, Rt. 7, Elizabethton, died Sunday, November 28, 1993, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Crowe as a native of Carter County and a daughter of the Wiley C. and Doshie Richardson Peters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana E. Crowe, in 1983, a son, Clifton Crowe, and seven brothers. Mrs. Crowe was a Charter member of the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Grindstaff, Rt. 7, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Sandy
Bowling of Elizabethton; two great-granddaughters, Sauna and Tara Bowling of Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Peters of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Jane Peters Crowe, 82, Rt. 7, Elizabethton, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday from Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Rev. Jonas Revis officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Blevins Cemetery.

JOHNSON CITY - Lucy “Ruth” Saults, 94, of Johnson City, died Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the Four Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility. She was a native of Johnson City and a daughter of the late Houston Henry and Lillie Hill Peters.

Ruth was a longtime employee of Kings Department Store, Baldauf and later Wal-Mart.

She was a member of Lynnwood Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, her husband, George W. Saults, Jr. (1998); a daughter, Patricia Tolley; a son, Kenneth Saults; a grandson, David Jancarek; a great granddaughter, Kelsie Greene all preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Myra Hopkins (Steve), Judith Jancarek (Melvin, Sr.), Rebecca Johnson and Linda Laws; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

The family wishes to express thanks to Four Oaks and Amedisys Hospice for their loving care.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Morris-Baker Funeral Home in the Dogwood Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm under the direction of Mr. Glen Keller. A committal service is scheduled for 2:00 pm in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

ELIZABETHTON - Conway (J.C.) Wilson, 90, Elizabethton passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Sol & Sarah Hayes Wilson. He was a graduate of Unaka High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Conway was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation, the Carter County Sheriff Department, a school bus driver and C & K Auto Sales. He attended Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church and First Free Will Baptist Church. Conway was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years: Ruth Nave Wilson, a son: Ora Dale Wilson, seven brothers: Mike, Vernon, Kay, Lonnie, Ernest, Grady & Ed Wilson and one sister: Ina Ward.

Survivors include a daughter: Kennetha Marshall, Johnson City, a son: Gary Wilson & wife Sharon, Kingsport. Three Grandchildren, Kimberly Buck, Elizabethton, Ericka Marshall, Nashville and Kasey Duncan, Kingsport. Four Great Grandchildren: Chase Buck, Kaelyn Duncan, Keaton Duncan and Avery Duncan. A native of Carter County, she was the last surviving child of the late Henry & Crecy Peters Colbaugh and lived her entire life in the Carter Community. Lillie Belle was a graduate of Unaka High School and was a lifetime member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: C.W. Rambo, a daughter: Pamela Rambo Hicks, four brothers: Luther, Arthur, Kelsie and Herbert Colbaugh and a sister: Margaret Hardin. She was loved by everyone one that knew her.

Survivors include her daughter: Paula Rambo, Unicoi, her son and daughter-in-law: Perry and Debra Rambo, Elizabethton. Her son-in-law: Bill Hicks of Elizabethton. Several nieces & nephews.

ELIZABETHTON - Floyd D. (Todd) Lowe, 82, Elizabethton went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at his residence.

A native of Carter County he was a son of the late John & Mary Peters Lowe. Floyd was a 1954 graduate of Unaka High School. He served in the United States Air Force for three and one-half years. He retired from Raytheon Corporation in 1993 after 36 years of service. He was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church sense 1964, served on the Deacon Board and was Choir Director. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph, Bill and Harold Lowe and one sister: Beatrice Lockner.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Mary Ann Mercer Lowe. A daughter and son-in-law: Vivian Ruth & Daniel Wood, Piney Flats. One sister: Florence Belt, Welcome, North Carolina. One brother: Lloyd Lowe and wife Sue of Elizabethton. His special Honorary grandchildren: Cooper and Taylor Shanks and Sydney Markland. Several nieces & nephews. His Brother-In-Law: Robert Mercer & wife Liz, Mercer, Texas and sister-in-law: JoAnn & husband Phil McQueen.

Lloyd Philip Lowe, 83, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at Hillview Health Center following an extended illness. He was born on June 23, 1939 to the late John and Mary Peters Lowe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers, sisters and nephews. Mr. Lowe was a 1957 graduate of Unaka High School. He attended Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church his entire life. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Lloyd retired from Holston Ordinance & Eastman Chemical Company after 30 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as a courier for 10 years at Citizens Bank. Prior to his illness, Mr. Lowe enjoyed walking the trail at Sycamore Shoals and in later years watching sports on TV with his beloved grandson. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Sue Lowe; a daughter, Mary Lowe Harrell; a special grandson, Noah Evan Harrell; and a special great-niece, Jennifer Morrell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, a sister-in-law, cousins and friends. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Kenny Lethcoe officiating.

Clifford Loyal Peters, 80, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 in the Signature Health Care of Elizabethton.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Buster & Maggie Pearl Peters.

Clifford retired from AFG. He served in the Stoney Creek Fire Department for 40 years. He was the first fire Chief and he was the fire chief for 30 years. Clifford was a Trustee of the Blevins Cemetery. He was a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church..

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Jack Peters.

Survivors include two daughters: Cindy Peters Sturgill and Christy Peters Petit & special son-in-law, Scott. Five Grandchildren. Ethan Sturgill, Adam Chase Sturgill, Matthew Poole, Tristan Petit and Makenzie Petit. One Great granddaughter: December Poole. His sister: Lucy Shankles & husband Kenneth, Norman Peters & wife Joyce and Buford Peters & wife Sherry. A Sister-In-law: Marsha Peters. Several nieces & nephews. His little dog Scarlett.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Stoney Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Cornett officiating. The eulogy will be given by Gale Colbaugh. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. A native of Butler, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Maynard Gentry and Gusta Leigh Stout.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Houston, and his children, Ladeau, Grady and Larry; previous husbands, Fred Riddle and James Cross; and a precious great-granddaughter, Heather Marie Row.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Gladys and husband Bert Plummer of Elizabethton, and Ruth Ann and husband David Peters of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Roland Eugene Blankenship of Elizabethton, Veronica Ann and husband Timothy Osborne of Erwin, Joyce Davena and Ray Smith of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jennifer Ann Treadway of Evington, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Adam Baumgartner of Knoxville, Tenn., Michael Row of Seminole, Texas, Jordan Kelly Rapert of Clyde, N.C., AmberLee Row of Albuquerque, N.M., and Bethany Nicole Rapert of Erwin, Tenn.; and one great-great-granddaughter, Natalie Claire Baumgartner of Knoxville, Tenn. Lee McCloud Stitt, 69, known to many as "Sandy," went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018.
Sandy was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved her God, family, and friends. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she was a friend to all who knew her, and will be greatly missed and remembered by all.
Born in Elizabethton, Tenn., on June 29, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Nolan and Myrsonne McCloud.
Sandy attended Abba's House, formerly, Central Baptist Church, for the past 23 years where she was a faithful and dedicated member of the choir. She worked for 26 years as an Administration Assistant to various church staff members, working 18 years at Bayside Baptist Church in Harrison, Tenn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Steve McCloud, and nephew, Jeremiah McCloud.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael D. Stitt. She also leaves behind three children, Nicole (Jason) Burgess, Brian Stitt, and Jaime (Bill) McConkey; four grandchildren, Nicholas Holden, Abigail Burgess, Nolan Burgess, and Lacy Boles; niece, Kristie Adams; and nephews, Steve and Tim McCloud.
A funeral service to commemorate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Abba's House with Pastor Angie McGregor officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Emma Peters Hurley, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Vennia Colbaugh Peters and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by her husband, Glen "Buck" Hurley; son, John R. Hurley; and 14 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Hurley was a member of New Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and working word puzzles.

She is survived by her daughter, Neta Schneibolk of Sandy Spring, MD; two sons, Ronnie Hurley and Greg Hurley and his wife Brenda all of Elizabethton; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a special niece, Becky Peters Lay; sister, Reba Vines and her husband Jerry of Elizabethton; and a special friend and "sister", Addie Blevins of Elizabethton. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Anna Lee Oliver, 92, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Hermitage Health Center. She was born in Carter County and was a daughter of the late George and Matilda Peters Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Oliver, in 1975; a great-grandson, Keaton Wayne Oliver Jacobs; five sisters, Amanda Eggers, Burless Bowers, Vada Grindstaff, Lillian Wilson and Emma Taylor; and five brothers, Gilbert Taylor, Grady Taylor, Luther Taylor, Emra Taylor and Zaney Taylor.
Mrs. Oliver was a homemaker. She loved to garden and take care of her flowers and to spend time with her family, whom she loved very much. She was an avid UT fan and a member of Dungan Chapel Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Georgia Arnold and her husband, Gary, Elizabethton; her son, William Rick Oliver and his wife, Robin, Elizabethton; four granddaughters, Regina Luttrell, Sabrina McCloud, Rikki Oliver and Adina Arnold; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Gennivee Farmer, Elizabethton; and a very special friend of the family, Shirley Qusenberry. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, in the Ensor Cemetery. CONCORD, NC — Euvada Ina Peters, 90, Concord, North Carolina formerly of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016, in the Carolinas Medical Center North East, Concord, North Carolina.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred M. & Mae Shankles Peters. She loved to cook, work in her flowers and loved to read. Euvada was a Charter Member and the oldest member of Carter Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother & sister-in-law, Durward. & Lucy Peters; and two sisters, Edith and Marjorie Peters.

Survivors include her special niece whom she made her home with, Jill Peters Croley and husband Dr. Giltz Croley and their two children, Mason & Mallory; two nephews, Frank Peters and wife Angie and their children, Jason, Lance, and Luke also Michael Peters and his children, Meredith, Weston & Jordan. Also several cousins and her special friend and neighbor, Lillian Carrier.

Erma Lou Peters Broyles, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Pearl Taylor Peters. She was a graduate of Unaka High School.
Erma Lou in earlier years had worked for Dr. Bowman and also had worked for her brothers, who were in the jewelry business. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and also attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis Broyles, who died December 26, 2004; two sisters, Betty Taylor and Wilma Cannon; and three brothers, Lefty, Rondal and Albun Peters.
Survivors include her son, Terry Jack Broyles; a sister-in-law, Mary Peters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Erma Lou Peters Broyles will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating. Music will be provided by Grady Holder. John “Papaw John” Wesley Richardson, age 80, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Hermitage Healthcare and is finally free of this world’s pain.

He was born at home in the Stoney Creek Community, the son of the late Walter Brownlow Richardson and Daisy Lula Peters Richardson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pat Stout Richardson in 2018; and an infant sister, Etta Mae.

John attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and loved woodworking and painting cars. Papaw John was an American Picker long before Mike and Frank.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Randy Richardson and wife Nicole, Tammy Troutman and husband Tim and Danny Richardson and wife Lisa; six grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Miranda Richardson, Zachary and Rachel Peters, Hunter, Abigail and Emily Richardson; a brother, Eddie Richardson; and an extended family, Gary, Maria, Garrett and Alyson Deloach, and James, Renita, Amara, Aundria and Alena Bunten.

Ernest Edward "Eddie" Richardson, age 74, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at the home of his loving daughter on Friday, March 6. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Brownlow Richardson and Daisy Peters Richardson, an infant sister Etta Mae, and a brother John Wesley Richardson. Eddie worked for many years at Mapes Piano String Company in Elizabethton. He was a long time member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church and then Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church. Eddie was an avid deer hunter. He liked Tennessee football, loved hotdogs, and always enjoyed special fishing trips with his son

Those that remain who will love and miss him every single day are his two children who were the bright spots in his life, Lisa Richardson Cipy and Chad Richardson, and one granddaughter, Brittney "Alex" Cipy Joyner, two nephews Randy and Danny Richardson, and a niece, Tammy Troutman, and a brother-in-law who was more like a son, Kevin Lipford. Others who share special memories with Eddie are first wife and mother of his children, Susan Ellison, Abagayle Cable, Ricky Evans, Jane W. Richardson, Bob Rasnick, and Gregory Hilton.

The family would like to express their greatest appreciation for the amazing staff who became like family to Eddie at Smokey Mountain Clinic of Davita, especially Penny Jones, during his extended illness.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Eliza Jane Echols Peters and was born in Carter County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Leslie "Ricky" Hardin; two brothers, Roy Lowe, Leslie "Bee" Peters; and a sister, Corrine Rogers.
Mrs. Hardin was a member of the Watauga Freewill Baptist Church, where she was very active. She loved her church, the time she spent at the beach, and going to yard sales.
She is survived by her husband of sixtyfive years, Richard Hardin, of the home; a son, Jonathan Hardin, Elizabethton; a daughter, Pamela Wilson and her husband, Daryl, of Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Legend Hardin, Beth Tester and her husband, Paul, Sarah Oaks and her husband, Ryan, all of Elizabethton, and Amanda Neas and her companion, Joe Harville, West Minister, CO; seven greatgrandchildren, Lucien, Kagan and Raelyn Tester, Nathaniel and Nicole Oaks, Hannah Carr, all of Elizabethton, and Leslie Anne Harville, West Minister, CO; a brother, Ed Peters, Elizabethton; and her very special friends, Bob and Carla Jean Cox, Knoxville. ELIZABETHTON - Loretta Peters Colbaugh, age 76, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her residence. Loretta was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Brooks Clyde Peters and Iona Lee Cable Peters.

Loretta was an active pastor's wife of 49 years, her most precious moments were the birth of her son, her grandson and being a loving and devoted pastor's wife. She had worked at Great Lakes Research as an executive assistant and retired from the Social Security Administration. Loretta was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Unaka High School and enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, working in her flowers and bird watching. Most of all she loved cooking lunches for her family on Sundays and loved assisting with her church activities.

Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her husband of 55 years, Ray Colbaugh, of the home; her son, Kevin Brooks Colbaugh; her grandson, Rev. A native of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, he was a son of the late Auda A. of the Hardin Brothers Quartett and Viola Peters Hardin. He lived most of his life in Elizabethton. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart and other service related metals. He was an employee of American Bemberg Corporation and North American Rayon Corporation for 25 years. He was also an Electrician & Pipe Fitter and a millwright at various construction companies. Don was also a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an Infant son: Terry Hardin, three brothers: Charles, Danny Ray and Olan "Pie" Hardin and a sister: Alma "Bo" Williams.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years: Carol Groce Hardin. His Children: Randy Hardin & wife Darlene, Tim Hardin & wife Doris and Wendy Watson. Born April 27, 1944 in Elizabethton to the late Auda & Viola Peters Hardin. He was a 1962 graduate of Unaka High School. Pie was employed at North American Rayon Corporation for several years and retired from Texas Instruments. He was a member of the Good Neighbor Quartet, The Thursday Night Boys and second generation Hardin Brothers Quartet.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Alma "Bo" Williams and two brothers, Charles & Dana Ray Hardin. He was an avid Tennessee Vol Fan.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years who cared for him Karen Taylor Hardin. One Daughter & Son-In-Law: Audra Brooke & Daryl Shanks, two sons & daughters-in-law: Wade & Sarah Hardin and Shane & Laura Hardin and the light of his life his grandchildren: Taylor Shanks, Kassidy Hall and Cooper Shanks. ELIZABETHTON — The Lord Took Pamela Gwen "Pam" Rambo Hicks, 61, Elizabethton to be with him Monday, September 28, 2015, at her residence after a brief illness.

She was a Carter County native. Pam was a 1971 graduate of Unaka High School. She was a member of the Order of Confederate Rose "Wild Mountain Roses" Chapter 11 of Elizabethton.

Pam attended Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was loved by many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, C.W. Rambo.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Bill Hicks; her mother, Lillie Belle Colbaugh Rambo, Elizabethton; a sister, Paula Rambo, Unicoi; a brother, Perry Rambo and wife Debra, Elizabethton, several cousins and her dog Missy.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh and Mr. Randy Carrier officiating.

Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Dale Williams and Dennis Laws and Gary Melvin, Piper. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sons of the Confederate Veterans.

Charlene Kane, age 75, of Elizabethton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at her residence, following a brief illness. Mrs. Kane was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Coy Lee Peters and Ammo Peters Shell.

Mrs. Kane was retired from Mapes Piano String Company and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Kane, of the home; a daughter, Paige Rike and husband Robert, Elizabethton; a son, Todd Kane, Elizabethton; one granddaughter, Alexandra "Lexie" Rike, Elizabethton; two sisters, Maxine Haffield, Vero Beach, FL and Jan Roberts and husband Michael, Watauga; a sister-in-law, Helen Kane Wilson and husband Jim, Elizabethton; four nieces, Debbie Foster, Vero Beach, FL, Dr. Sharon Stafford, Boone, NC, Cynthia Stafford, Elizabethton, and Amy Pinkerman, Elizabethton; three nephews, Shane Roberts, Knoxville, TN, Ryan Haffield, Vero Beach, FL, and Scott Stafford, Houston, TX; two special friends, Emma Rose Snodgrass and Billie Woodruff. Terry E. Peters, age 72, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Terry was born in Elizabethton to the late Arthur Gene and Opal Mattie Hyder Peters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hubert Peters; a niece, Lori L. Peters; and his step father, George Wilson.

Terry was an electronics instructor in the educational field and was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served in the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his many wonderful memories include his loving wife of 53 years, Bobbie Parlier Peters, of the home; two sons, Mark Peters and wife Lisa, of Elizabethton and Philip Peters and wife Bonnie, also of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Jacob Peters, Amanda Peters and Kailey Peters, all of Elizabrtehton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Terry E. Peters will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Ron Owens, officiating. ELIZABETHTON - Richard Brent Taylor, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1947 in Elizabethton to the late Robert Lesley and Bernice Odessa Grindstaff Taylor. Richard was a 1965 graduate of Unaka High School. He had baseball scholarship at Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tenn. He graduated with a degree in Sociology. Richard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired Millwright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Geraldine Hinkle, Glenna Sue Pritchard and Pamela Wilson, nephews: John Arrowwood, Steven Pritchard and Elmo Hinkle and a brother: Jay Taylor.

Survivors include a sister: Peggy Ann Arrowwood, Greeneville, Tenn. His Brother-in-Law: Dennis Wilson, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews. A special friend Bill Grant and his four daughters: Paige, Morgan, Shy and Lisa. His cat: Mr. Spink.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section) with Mr. Todd Houston, Minister officiating. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Friday will be: Chris Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Mark Wilson, Tristan Wilson, Ron Wilson and Lester Wilson. William "Rick" Oliver, age 57, of the Stoney Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rick was born in Carter County to the late George B. and Anna Lee Taylor Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Keaton Jacobs.

Rick was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid outdoorsman. He had worked as a blue print specialist for Kennametal for more than 35 years and he was of the Baptist faith. Rick loved hunting, fishing, sitting on his front porch looking at his beloved mountains and UT football. His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved and devoted family.

Those left to cherish Rick's memory include his wife of 30 years, Robin Kilby Oliver, of the home; his daughter, Rikki Oliver and her fiancé, Wayne Jacobs, of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Delilah Oliver, also of Elizabethton; his sister, Georgia Ann Arnold and husband Gary, of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Lisa Carver and husband David, of Piney Flats; and his special friends, Curtis Walters and Matt Neece, both of Stoney Creek, and Jeff Calloway, of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Zaney Randolph "Randy" Taylor II, 44, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, in Charleston, S.C.
Randy was a native of Carter County and a 1991 graduate of Unaka High School where he was on the Rangers Football Team. He attended Tennessee College of Applied Technology and was a Welder. Randy was a member of Stoney Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Zaney Taylor; his step-father, Calvin Blane Quesenberry; his paternal grandparents, George and Matilda Taylor; and his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Chelsie White.
Survivors include his daughter, Haley Nicole Taylor; his step-daughter, Emily Vance; his mother, Shirley White Taylor Quesenberry; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Allen Richardson and Amy and Steve Netherly; his step-sisters, Barbara Raymond and husband John, and Sue Bebber and husband Sam; a step-brother, Calvin (Corky) Quesenberry and wife, Daphne; the mother of his daughter, Rhonda Taylor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Willa Dean Pierce, our beloved sister. We are saddened for no longer having her with us here, but overjoyed as she has been reunited with Mom, Dad, Christine and Carroll. Everyone loved Willa and we believe it was this love that kept her with us for 67 years. A native of Carter County and current resident of The Sevier House in Unicoi, she was the daughter of the late Ambers & Maggie Peters Pierce. Willa was a part of the Union Hill FWB Church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister & brother-in-law Christine and W.J. Nave and a brother, Carroll Pierce.
Survivors include a sister: Nadine Crews, Elizabethton, Her brothers: Paul Pierce, William Pierce, both of Elizabethton, and Walter Pierce & his wife Loretta, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Herbert L. Williams, 69, of Elizabethton, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Elizabethton on July 1, 1950 to the late Hoover and Rada Williams. He was a retired mechanic. He loved working on cars and lawn mowers. He enjoyed playing music and singing with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lynice Ritchie, and a daughter, Leca Bailey.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Williams, daughter, Reca Hazelwood, son, Jeff Williams, brother, Jessie Williams, sister, Patricia Carden, and brother, Richard Williams, all of Elizabethton. His grandchildren include Britney Taylor, Christopher Campbell, Nicholas Williams, Autumn Williams, Aliana Williams, Charlie Williams, Joseph Campbell, Summer Brock, Brandon Oliver, Skyler Campbell and Lexi Oliver; and a host of nieces and nephews and a long list of great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will assemble for a celebration of life at Moore’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on February 6. Services will start at 6 p.m. with Rev. Willie Campbell.

ELIZABETHTON - Richard Gale Williams, age 62, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at his residence.

Richard was born in Elizabethton to the late Hoover and Rada Peters Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Herbert Williams and Lynice Ritchie.

Richard was a graduate of Unaka High School and had worked for Grady’s Drycleaners in Johnson City for many years, also, he helped open and worked at Tri-Cities Wholesale Tobacco Store #1 in Boones Creek. Richard was once a member of the Carter County Rescue Squad. He also drove a school bus for Carter County bus garage and did transporting for the Norfolk Southern Railroad Company in Bristol. Richard was of the Christian faith and attended Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.

Richard loved to sing, loved a good joke and announced local wrestling events/ E.C.W. and others. He also enjoyed working the old scoreboard for Nascar at BMS races. Richard also sang with different groups both gospel and country. Richard was a band booster member for several years for the Betsy Band in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He also enjoyed camping at Little Wilbur and Roan Mountain campground. Richard had also coached a girls’ softball team junior league for Stacey’s Carpet during the years of 1985 - 1987.

Those left to cherish his many wonderful memories include his fiancé, Helen Harris, of the home; his children, Richard Shane Williams and wife Jessica, of Unicoi County, Heather Diane Williams and fiancé Kenneth Harrison II, of Johnson City and daughters-to-be, Heather Reed and Melissa Landry; his special friend/ brother, Danny Simmons, Tommy Addair, Randall Chapman, Earl and Jaye Hattan; eleven grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia, Kelsey, Kenneth III, Elijah, all from Johnson City, TN, Steven and Salym, of Elizabethton, Brooklynn, Charlie, Jonas, all of Kingsport and Betsy, of Virginia Beach, VA; a great granddaughter, Annabelle; and two siblings, Patricia “Trish” Carden and Jessie Williams. A native of Elizabethton, she was a daughter of the late Richard H. and Lois Juanita Peters Hardin and was born on February 9, 1956. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Leslie Hardin.
Pamela was a 1974 graduate of Unaka High School and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, playing the piano and making jewelry; but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Elizabethton- Leonard “Keith” Benfield, 71, went to be with the Lord, October 16, 2022, after a long courageous fight with cancer and heart disease.
He was a retired 50-year member of Boilermaker’s Local #83 of Kansas City, Kansas.
Keith loved talking and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his fur babies, Elijah and Ollie, riding his motorcycle, camping, talking to friends, and sitting on the porch watching the wildlife and the rolling river.
Keith was a member of Oakland Avenue Baptist Church, and also attended Lynn Valley Baptist Church when his health permitted.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara; his children, Holly Channon (Michael) of Moline, Illinois, Jennifer Carr (Steven) of Elizabethton, TN, Jacob Benfield of Port Neches, Texas, and Bob Norris (Shae) of Elizabethton, TN; his mother, Betty; his brothers, Gregory (Robin) and Robert (Mary); his grandchildren, Zachary, Avarie, Emily, Justin, Jesse, Madison, Bailey; and his great-grandchildren, Jazzy, Skylar, A.J. and Peyton; his Aunt Pidge; and several cousins, nephews, nieces and special friends, George Baldwin and Kenneth Loveless also survive.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Benfield; two infant daughters; his grandparents, Jenny and Gordon Peters, Floyd P. and Elda Ollis Benfield.
