Ruby Roeanna Smith Julian, of 395 Old Mill Road, Elk Park, NC, was to turn 93 on November 3rd.
A lifelong resident of Avery County, she was born on November 3, 1915, and passed away on October 25, 2008, at her daughter's home in Dahlonega, GA.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adrian Frank Julian Sr. She was the last survivor of the seven Smith girls of Charles A. Smith and Rose Turbyfill. She was an active member of the Elk Park Christian Church.
Mrs. Julian was a teacher by profession, an educator by nature, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She retired from the Avery County School System after 40 years of teaching. She started teaching in a small, one room schoolhouse and gave children the one thing only a true teacher and mother can — the belief that they could succeed. It didn't matter where they came from, she believed in them and they, in turn, learned to believe in themselves.
Left to carry on her memory are her five children: Terry & Rebecca Julian, of Dobson, NC, Dr. Ray C. & Glenda Julian Rensi, of Dahlonega, GA, Fred Julian & Kaye Hughes, of Linville, NC, Frieda Julian (Foster), of Dahlonega, GA, and Adrian F. & Meg Julian, of Elk Park, NC; Her beloved grandchildren: Cathy Julian & Pat O'Doherty, Gina Julian Rhyne, Adria Rensi & Ben Wilson, Chayne Rensi, LeAnna Rensi & Scott Casey, Amanda Greene, Jessica Julian, Lisa Foster & Kevin Eudy, Kevin & Arlene Foster, Scott & Wendy Foster, Laura Foster, Adrian F.
