    “Granny” Ruby Nidiffer, age 98, of Carter County, Tennessee passed away peacefully with a smile on her face to be with her Lord forever on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at her residence. Ruby was born in Hampton, Tennessee to the late Ethel O. Campbell. In addition to her parents, Ruby was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin G. Nidiffer; an infant daughter; two brothers, Howard McGinnis and Billy Joe Campbell; a daughter-in-law, Carol Nidiffer; and her beloved dogs, Bandit and Lucy.

    Ruby was a very outgoing lady who never met a stranger. She was a dedicated farm wife and had a deep love and respect for the word of God. She was known for her hard work ethic, loving her lord and her green thumb for planting and growing vegetables and flowers. Ruby raised her children to be a tight knit, loving family and was the oldest member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church, where she worshipped regularly until her health prevented it. You could find Ruby in her kitchen, cooking for her family and friends or sitting on the porch passing the time with whomever came to visit.

    Those left to cherish Ruby’s sweet memories include her sons, Mike Nidiffer and wife Debbie, Gregg Nidiffer and her “other boy” Johnny Bennett; her grandchildren, Michael Nidiffer and wife Nikki, Seidena Malone, Alex Renfro and wife Laura, Christy Burrough and husband Steve, Jonathan Renfro and wife Megan, Traci Ward and husband Jason and Keith Bowers and wife Patty; her great grandchildren, Haley, Collin, Jackson, Kayson, Bracken, Everly and Addison; several other nieces, nephews, special family members, friends and neighbors also survive.

    A celebration graveside service for “Granny” Ruby Nidiffer will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Reverend Mark Grubb officiating. Active pallbearers will be nephews, grandsons and Johnny Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pierce family, the Grindstaff family, the Rash family, the Nave family, the Oliver family, the Morley family, Cody Schuettler, Lou Nemeth, Gerald Buckles, Ken Costello and Chance Bowling.

    Henry A. "Bud" Glover, 80, of Hampton, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of Carter County.
    Bud was a mechanic and construction worker. He was a lifetime member of the Hampton Fire Department and a member of the CERTS Committee and Storm Watchers. He attended Moores Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ann Stout Glover; two daughters, Tina Edge and husband Duane, Lithia, Fla., and Jennifer Glover, Roan Mountain; three step-sons, Heath, Greg and Daniel Largent; grandchildren, Travis and Shawn Edge, Amanda, Chelsie and Hunter Largent and Chris Rainey; five great-grandchildren; one brother, John Edward Glover Sr., Hampton; two sisters, Nancy "Twettie" Stevens, Hampton, and Mary Ethel Demarco, Hopewell, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Kathy Hill and Travis Simerly.
    A memorial service for Henry A. "Bud" Glover will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Greg Largent officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hampton Fire Department and members of the Carter County Fireman's Association.

    ELIZABETHTON - Ray Glover, 81, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, from injuries suffered from a fall earlier in the week. He passed peacefully with his family by his bedside.

    Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jeanette, of the home; daughter Renee Erwin and her husband, Jeff, of Elizabethton; son Boyd “Chip” Glover of Fort Lauderdale, FL; granddaughter April Reece and her husband, Aaron, of Elizabethton; and great-grandson Dawson Reece, of Elizabethton. Ray is also survived by a sister, Nell Taylor, and her husband Larry, of Mount Carmel, TN; a brother, Johnny Glover, and his wife Judy, of Hampton, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive, including a very close nephew, Josh Taylor, of Bradenton, FL.

    Ray was the son of the late Boyd Carter Glover and Mattie Mosler and was born on December 7, 1940, in Carter County. He was a 1959 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He then joined the United States Army and was stationed in Ansbach Germa-ny with the 4th Missile Battalion, 28th Artillery (Lacrosse Missile).

    After completing his military service in 1962, Ray became a businessman in East Ten-nessee and Kentucky. Ray and his wife, Jeanette, spent almost 25 years as the owners of Glover Theaters, which included theaters such as the Bonnie Kate, State Line Drive-In, Jolly Roger, Flatwoods Drive-In, and the Cougar Drive-In. Ray and Jeanette also owned and operated Capitol Discount and Brittney’s in Elizabethton. In addition, Ray served as a mentor to Chip with his business, All-Star Card Company.

    Ray’s many interests included watching classic movies, especially westerns of the 1930s and 1940s, going to film festivals, flea markets, and traveling—including over a dozen trips to China. He served for many years on the City of Elizabethton’s Baseball Commission and attended the Elizabethton Twins minor league baseball games. After his retirement from his own businesses, Ray enjoyed working for his good friend, Wille McVey, at Valley Forge Auction and Wholesale where the employees and cus-tomers were like family to him.

    Ray never met a stranger and leaves behind many wonderful friends.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, October 5, at 7 p.m. at East Side Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton, under the direction of Pastor Justin Deaton. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. before the service.

    The Entombment Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday October 6, 2022 in the Mausole-um of Faith, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be chosen from his honor-ary pallbearers, family, and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Erwin, Larry Taylor, Josh Taylor, Aaron Reece, Willie McVey, Bill Vaught, C.Y. Peters, Bo Camp-bell, Charlie McCoury, Woody Thompson, Bradley McVey, his church family, and the former customers and employees of his businesses.
