Mrs. Crowe as a native of Carter County and a daughter of the Wiley C. and Doshie Richardson Peters. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dana E. Crowe, in 1983, a son, Clifton Crowe, and seven brothers. Mrs. Crowe was a Charter member of the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Ora retired from North American Rayon Corporation and was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bateman; her sisters, Nina Eller and Lena White; and her brother, Bill Richardson
She is survived by her son, Ted Bateman, and daughter-in-law, Diana; her grandson, Stephen Craig Bateman; and beloved nieces and nephews.

ELIZABETHTON - Jack Clemons, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late John & Rose Richardson Clemons. He was retired from General Shale as a Jack Operator. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard. He loved to fish, hunt and work in his garden. Jack was a member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church where he drove a church bus for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Alma June Lyons Clemons, a son: Jeffrey Clemons, two sisters: Venie Carr and Lena Hayes and two brothers: R.J. and Thomas Clemons. His daughter-in-law: Barbara Clemons and his son-in-law: Clarence Frye.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Wiley & Annie Pearl Williams Richardson. Carl was retired from the Tennessee Chair Factory. In earlier years he loved to go camping and fishing. He was a member of the New Hope Church of Jesus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Sylvia Richardson and a brother: Steve Richardson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Naomi Williams Richardson. Two sons: Rickey C. Richardson and wife Joyce, and Curtis E. Richardson, all of Elizabethton. She was a native of Elizabethton and was a daughter of the late Wally Thomas Richardson and Annie Pearl Williams Richardson. ELIZABETHTON - Franklin D. "Frank" Richardson, 77, Elizabethton, passed a way unexpectedly Monday, February 25, 2019 at his residence.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Wiley T. & Anna Pearl Williams Richardson. Frank was a 1961 graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Steed College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was an employee of North American Rayon Corporation for 35 + years until its closing and he retired from Mapes Piano String. He was a member of Keenburg Free Will Baptist Church. Frank was a member of the Carter County Honor Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years Charlotte Lou Fair Richardson who passed away June 13, 2012, by two brothers: Stephen Paul Richardson and Carl Richardson and two sisters: Sylvia Richardson and Florence Stevens.

Survivors include two daughters: Angela Manning & husband Foye, Morristown, TN and Diana Wright, Elizabethton. His Grandsons: Thomas Tester, David "Dylan" Wright and Franklin Wright, His Granddaughters: Nickie Grayless, Anna Jennings, Emily Wright, Great Granddaughters: Makayla Tester, Zoë Hyatt, Olivia Tester, Izzabella Wright and Chasity Grayless, Great Grandsons: Timothy & Steven Jennings and Spencer Heaton. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Jordan and Pastor Gene Fleenor officiating. John “Papaw John” Wesley Richardson, age 80, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Hermitage Healthcare and is finally free of this world’s pain.

He was born at home in the Stoney Creek Community, the son of the late Walter Brownlow Richardson and Daisy Lula Peters Richardson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Pat Stout Richardson in 2018; and an infant sister, Etta Mae.

John attended Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and loved woodworking and painting cars. Papaw John was an American Picker long before Mike and Frank.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Randy Richardson and wife Nicole, Tammy Troutman and husband Tim and Danny Richardson and wife Lisa; six grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Miranda Richardson, Zachary and Rachel Peters, Hunter, Abigail and Emily Richardson; a brother, Eddie Richardson; and an extended family, Gary, Maria, Garrett and Alyson Deloach, and James, Renita, Amara, Aundria and Alena Bunten.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of John “Papaw John” Wesley Richardson will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Doug Hinshaw, Joey Burker and Reverend Kenny Lethcoe, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Ernest Edward "Eddie" Richardson, age 74, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at the home of his loving daughter on Friday, March 6. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Brownlow Richardson and Daisy Peters Richardson, an infant sister Etta Mae, and a brother John Wesley Richardson. Eddie worked for many years at Mapes Piano String Company in Elizabethton. He was a long time member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church and then Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church. Eddie was an avid deer hunter. He liked Tennessee football, loved hotdogs, and always enjoyed special fishing trips with his son

Those that remain who will love and miss him every single day are his two children who were the bright spots in his life, Lisa Richardson Cipy and Chad Richardson, and one granddaughter, Brittney "Alex" Cipy Joyner, two nephews Randy and Danny Richardson, and a niece, Tammy Troutman, and a brother-in-law who was more like a son, Kevin Lipford. Others who share special memories with Eddie are first wife and mother of his children, Susan Ellison, Abagayle Cable, Ricky Evans, Jane W. Richardson, Bob Rasnick, and Gregory Hilton.

The family would like to express their greatest appreciation for the amazing staff who became like family to Eddie at Smokey Mountain Clinic of Davita, especially Penny Jones, during his extended illness.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2020 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brandon Young, of, Harmony Baptist Church, officiating. Emily Howard will be providing the music for the service. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m.,Thursday, March, 12, 2020 in Blevins Cemetery. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. will be: Waymon Carrier, Randy Richardson, Ricky Evans, and Kevin Lipford.

Erma Lou Peters Broyles, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at her residence.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Anderson and Pearl Taylor Peters. She was a graduate of Unaka High School.
Erma Lou in earlier years had worked for Dr. Bowman and also had worked for her brothers, who were in the jewelry business. She was a member of New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church and also attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis Broyles, who died December 26, 2004; two sisters, Betty Taylor and Wilma Cannon; and three brothers, Lefty, Rondal and Albun Peters.
Survivors include her son, Terry Jack Broyles; a sister-in-law, Mary Peters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Erma Lou Peters Broyles will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating. Music will be provided by Grady Holder. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Thomas Floyd Hurley, age 91 of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his home. He was a son of the late Jadie and Verna Estep Hurley born to them on September 23, 1929 in Johnson City.

Along with his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his sisters; Lillian Hughes and Virginia Howell, and his brother, R.G. Hurley.

Thomas is survived by his son-in-law, Rex Osborne and his sister-in-law, Patsy Wagner and husband Richard. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends left behind to cherish his memory.

A graveside service for Thomas Floyd Hurley will be conducted on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Hill Cemetery of Johnson City, with Pastor Greg Wagner officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

ELIZABETHTON — Barbara Heaton McElroy, 77, Elizabethton passed away Monday, October 11, 2010, in the Johnson City Medical Center.

She was a Carter County native. Barbara was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a member of the Watauga Point United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the United Methodist Women, former President of the Local Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a member of the Republican Women's Committee. Barbara was appointed by former Governor Don Sundquist to the Tennessee State Medical Review Board.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. McElroy, January 2006; by her father and mother, Dencie Heaton Estep and Earl Estep; and a brother, Bill Heaton.

Survivors include two daughters: Pamala Litz and husband, Eric, Tallahassee, Florida, and Debra McElroy, Boston, Mass.; Three Granddaughters: Amy Litz and husband, Scott Lato, Tallahassee, Florida, Rebecca Litz, of Atlanta, and Grace McElroy-Howard, Boston, Mass.; Her Brother: Richard Estep, Elizabethton; Sister: Vickie Cannon and her husband, Jerry, Elizabethton; Several Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and great nieces & nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Barbara McElroy will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Watauga Point United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Pinner officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday October 15, 2010, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 6:50 p.m. Thursday and also at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Greg Maupin, Greg Bowers, Mike Mathena, Jason Cannon, Bobby Cordell and Jonathan Fair. ELIZABETHTON- Richard Edward Clemons, 63, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Jack & June Lyons Clemons. He was employed by Color Works, Inc. He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brother; Jeffrey Clemons, his sister-in-law: Barbara Clemons and his brother-in-law: Clarence Frye.
Survivors include his fiancé: Kristyn Kemp, his brothers and sisters: Blenda Hester, Barbara (Clarence) Taylor, Gary Lynn Clemons, Robin (Richard) Guy, Billy (Lisa) Clemons, Timothy (Tina) Clemons, Jerry Clemons, Vicky Frye and Michael (Rebecca) Clemons. Several nieces & nephews.

Curtis Eugene Richardson, 55, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born November 17, 1966, in Elizabethton. He was preceded in death by his father: Carl Oscar Richardson.
Survivors include his mother: Naomi Williams Richardson, and a brother: Rickey Richardson, Elizabethton. Two uncles and one aunt.

Mr. Gary Stevens, 66, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021. The son of the late Lewis & Florence Richardson Stevens, Gary was born in Carter County, Tennessee, on December 31, 1954.
Gary retired from East Tennessee State University as a Maintenance Supervisor. He was formerly employed at SB White for 26 years.
Gary’s grandkids were the light of his life. He had a love for history and enjoyed teaching others about his culture. Gary participated in the Wataugans outdoor drama as Chief Little Carpenter for 30 years. He was a founding member of the Ghost Riders and also founded the Tennessee Frontiersman.
He is survived by his sons, Chris Stevens and Cody Stevens (Miranda), grandchildren, Sarah Stevens, Katherine Stevens, Case Stevens and Delaney Stevens, brother, Eugene Stevens Sr. (Karen), sister, Sandra Townsend, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and fur-buddies, Gracie and Daisy.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his first wife, Daisy.
A funeral service will be held at the Tipton-Haynes Historic Site on Friday, October 15, 2021, at 12:00 PM. The graveside service will follow at 2:00PM at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Tony Lee Carden, 64 years old, of Dugger Branch Road, Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2022, due to a brief unexpected illness. Tony was born to the late Gilbert Carden and Shirley Richardson Carden.
Tony was of the Baptist faith and attended Moore’s Chapel where he was a recent member as well as Harvest Baptist in prior years. He was a loving father and friend. He was described to have one of the biggest hearts and would give you the shirt off his back. He enjoyed helping others, spending time with his family and being outdoors. He loved to go hiking, taking walks in the woods and hunting, which he didn’t get to do very often. Tony was a classic car enthusiast who dreamed of owning a ’57 Chevy. He was a jack of all trades and there was nothing he couldn’t fix from carpentry to mechanic. Tony was known as everyone’s “Superman” especially to his family.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walt and Jane Carden and Raymond and Bertie Richardson, and several aunts, uncles, family members and friends, some to whom he was extremely close to.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lisa Carden; three sons, Tony Carden Jr., Jacob Carden and Noah Carden; four daughters, Tonya Carden, Victoria Brooke Carden, Pamela Michelle Carden and Kelly Tyree; four grandchildren, Kameron Carden, Kammie Carden, Briannah Carden and Jaydan Stout; three brothers, Bert Carden and wife Debbie, Timmy Carden and wife Patricia and Cona Carden and wife Judy; the mothers of his children, Tabitha Honeycutt and Jennifer Carter; nephew, Adam Carden; niece, Madison Carden; one great-niece; and very close friends, Bob Carroll, Gordon Lynn Carroll and Johnny Vines. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, friends and several children and grandchildren that he cared for like his own also survive.
The family would like to recognize and thank two very special nurses in the ICU at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Joy and Kim, as well as the medical doctor and staff. The family would also like to extend a thank you to his friends, Bob Carroll and Jim Johnson, for praying with him and to his sister-in-law, Debbie, for all her support and help answering any medical questions and sitting with them during this difficult time.
