    Juanita Heaton Miller, 92, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, August 23, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and Pearl Carver Heaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Miller; a sister, Patsy Winters; and two brothers, Roy Heaton and Ray Heaton.
    Juanita was a devoted wife, loving mother and mamaw. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed cooking, cleaning and caring for her family.
    Those left to cherish Juanita's memory include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Randy Caraway of Roan Mountain; a son, Roger Miller, of the home; her grandchildren, Courtney and CPO Jeremy Clipse, USCG, of Williamsburg, Va., Matthew and Rosy Caraway, Elizabethton, Tenn., and Mark Miller, Nashville, Tenn.; and her great-grandchildren, Arielle Clipse, Lucas Clipse, Neyland Caraway and Kyla-Rose Caraway. She is also survived by several very special nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends and long-time neighbors, Betty and Delaney Berry and Charles Jones; and a dear lifelong friend, Onza Johnson.
    A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Minister Delaney Berry and Pastor Tim Hughes officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rosy Caraway and Tim and Sandra Hughes. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Caraway, Mark Miller, Jeremy Clipse, Duane Potter, Rick Heaton and Keith Stout. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Heaton, Garry Heaton and Charles Jones. It was her wish to only have a graveside service.

    Juanita married Ford Miller on 20 Nov 1944 in Carter County, , , Tennessee.     Patsy Winters, 75, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, from The Waters of Roan Highlands. Patsy was a native of Roan Mountain and the daughter of the late Clifford and Pearl Heaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John Winters, and two brothers, Roy and Ray Heaton.
    Pasty retired from Tulsa Dental and had also worked for U.S. Textile, I.R.C., and was currently working at the Whiteway Grill in Roan Mountain. She was a loving mother and grandmother, outgoing and energetic, and was above all a loving and devoted wife.
    Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Angela Miller and husband Eddie of Roan Mountain; her son, Charles Keith Stout and wife Barbara Ann of Roan Mountain; two sisters, Juanita Miller of Roan Mountain and Barbara McCoury of Roan Mountain; three granddaughters, Patsy Adkins, Pam Adkins and Ronnie Danielle Miller, all of Roan Mountain; her first husband and lifelong friend, Charlie Stout of Hampton; a special step-grandson, David Miller of Roan Mountain; a special friend, Patsy Perkins of Roan Mountain; her friend and caregiver, Linda Potter of Roan Mountain; and several nieces and nephews.
    A celebration of life service for Patsy Winters will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 9, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Derrick Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 10, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery in Roan Mountain with Steve Guinn officiating. Active pallbearers will be Aaron Powell, David Miller, Tim Shell, Ronnie Hendry, Chad Morgan and Mark Birchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Johnson, Carroll Ray, Stuart Ingram, Dameon Stout, Ricky "Fonzie" Hughes, Jim Hicks, Don Birchfield, Gene Mosley, Willie Shell, Mike Powell and Chad Street.

    Buried:
    John Winters, 79, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with his Lord Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Ed and Carrie Shell Winters. He was a former employee of the Carter County Sheriffs Department. He was of the Baptist faith and Mr. Winters was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
    Mr. Winters is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Patsy Heaton Winters of the home; a daughter and her fiancé, Angela Adkins and Eddie Miller, both of Roan Mountain; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Ann Stout, Roan Mountain; three special grand-daughters; Patsy Adkins, Pam Adkins, and Little Ronnie Miller all of Roan Mountain; three sisters and one brother-in-law; Mary Grace Harmon, Boone, NC; Louella and Tate Whittington, Elizabethton; Ruth Fletchers, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
    The funeral service for Mr. Winters will be conducted at 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Rev. Keith Gwyn officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Melody Trio. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, prior to the service.
    The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM; Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery in Roan Mountain with Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post No. 49. Active pallbearers will be Carroll Jones, Russell Jones, Jack Heaton, Eddie Miller, Randall Cook, Matthew Caraway and Chris Estep. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Caraway, Roy Heaton, Bobby McCurry, Ford Miller, Rick Heaton, Gary Heaton, Rick Harmon, Bob Harmon, Roger Miller, Tate Whittington, John Peters, Rick Whitehead, Ronnie Hicks and friends and neighbors.

    Patsy married John H. Winters about 1952 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. John (son of Ed Winters and Carrie Shell) was born on 17 May 1931 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 21 May 2010 in Washington County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Johnson Roan View Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Samuel “Sam” Ray Heaton, 64, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, in Roan Mountain. Sam was born in Elizabethton to the late Bobby Ray Heaton and Mary Roberta Winters Strickland.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Strickland.
    Sam was an employee of Snap-on Tools of Elizabethton for 16 years and was a very hard worker. Above all he cherished his family and was a caring and wonderful father, laid back and very intelligent. Sam was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed listening to ’70s rock music with his daughter and watching Richard Petty during his NASCAR career, Dallas Cowboys and watching wrestling with his son.
    Those left to cherish Sam’s memory include his wife of 25 years, Sharon (Ward) Heaton, of the home; his beloved children, Emily and Evan Heaton, both of Roan Mountain; and two brothers, Steve Heaton of Roan Mountain and Andrew (Amanda) Strickland of Elk Park, N.C.
    A service to celebrate and honor the life of Samuel “Sam” Ray Heaton will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Tull Oaks and Pastor Chris Hitechew officiating. Chris McKinney will provide a song. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Justin Jordan, Hayden Roberson, Zane Ward, Darrell Birchfield, Steve Heaton and Andrew Strickland. Troy Ward will serve as honorary pallbearer.
