    JOHNSON CITY - Helen Graybeal Price, 95, Johnson City, died Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Mountain City Care Center.

    Mrs. Price was a native of Mountain City and had been a resident of Johnson City for most of her life.

    She was the daughter of the late George and Anna Wilson Graybeal.

    Mrs. Price received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Milligan College in 1943. Upon graduation, she joined the U.S. Army Women's Corp during World War II, where she was a Medical Lab Technician at Ft. McClellan, AL, working with German P.O.W.'s. Following her military service, Mrs. Price attended Duke University and later received her Master of Science degree in Biology from East Tennessee State University.

    She retired in 1973 from the Veterans Affairs Hospital, Mountain Home, after twenty-three years of service as a Medical Technologist. Following her retirement, she worked with the Johnson City School System at Liberty Bell Middle School, then returned to medical technology, working at Northside Hospital, then finally teaching medical assistance at Steed College and Bristol College.

    Mrs. Price's active church life was always the foundation in her life, first as a child growing up at First Christian Church in Mountain City, then her membership at First Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, then as a charter member of Cornerstone Church.

    She was an active member of the Johnson County Historical Society, the Unaka Rock and Mineral Society, and enjoyed working with Genealogy.

    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, Bill W. Price, in 1986, and two brothers, James and Hal Graybeal.

    She is survived by her children, James Hal Price, Johnson City, Julie Price Elliott and husband Ernie, Los Alamos, NM; three grandchildren, Bethany Elliott, Knoxville, William Elliott, Alcoa, and Nathan Elliott, Fayetteville, NC; three nieces.

    The memorial service for Mrs. Price will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at 2:00 P.M., at Cornerstone Church, with Pastor Jason Myers, officiating.

    The family will receive friends prior to the service Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the church.
