BUTLER – Mary Alice Rainbolt Shaw, 98, Butler went home to be
with her Lord, Monday, March 14, 2022 in the Sycamore Shoals
Hospital. She was born October 12, 1923 in Stonega, Virginia to the
late David Franklin & Ethel Clawson Rainbolt.
She had lived most of her life in Carter County.
She was a formeremployee of NARC, Shadowline of Boone, NC and
Shirley’s Restaurant. Mrs Shaw was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church where she had served
as a Sunday School Teacher for over 72 years. She spent her life faithfully serving the Lord and others,
leading many to accept Jesus into their hearts. She
enjoyed spending time with her family, studing the
Bible, and spent countless hours in her sewing room.
She also loved to sew. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband Marcus Shaw
who passed away June 17, 1984, by three sisters:
Lucille White, Ruth Williams and Susie Smith and
two brothers: John Rainbolt and Charles Rainbolt.
Survivors include her children: Gayle (Joel)
Eggers, New Port Richey, Florida, Gary (Peggy)
Shaw and Richard Shaw all of Mountain City. Seven
Grandchildren: Travis (Heather) Eggers, Nicole
Dugger, Mark Shaw, Ricky Shaw, Courtney (Drew)
Warwick, Aaron (Ashley) Church and Amy (TR)
Kyte. 14 Great Grandchildren. Four Sisters: Frances
Ward, Nancy Jenkins, Jane (Ron) Miller and Brenda
(Tom) Penix. Several nieces and nephews.
A Service to Celebrate the life of Mary Shaw will
be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at
Little Milligan Baptist Church with Rev. Sam
Icenhour and Rev. Nick Bradshaw officiating.
Interment will follow in the Butler Memorial
Cemetery. Music will be provided by the Church
Choir. Active Pallbearers will be: Mark Shaw, Ricky
Shaw, Aaron Church, Timber Shaw, Drew Warwick,
Lane Shaw, Lloyd Ward, Charlie Jennings and TR
Kyte. Honorary Pallbearers will be her former
Sunday School Students, her church family and

Ruth A. Williams, age 87, of Elizabethton, TN went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late David F. and Ethel Clawson Rainbolt. Mrs. Williams was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and sister who showed love to everyone she came in contact with. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and especially spending time with her sisters whom she adored.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Williams; a son, Danny "Ralph" Williams and two brothers, John Rainbolt and Charles "Bud" Rainbolt.

Those left to cherish his memory include three daughters, Patricia Hartley and husband John, Elizabethton, Traci McClure and husband Lance, Alta Vista, VA and Lynn Trivette and husband Steve, Elizabethton; six grandchildren, Amy Hartley, Doug Hartley and wife Amanda, Neil Hartley and wife Tara, Jacob McClure, Joshua McClure, Ashley Trivette and husband Victor and Carol Ann Johnson and husband Dale and seven sisters, Mary Alice Shaw, Butler, Francis Ward, South Carolina, Lucille White, Elizabethton, Nancy Jenkins, Elizabethton, Jane Miller, Ohio, Brenda Tenix, Elizabethton and Sue Smith, Butler. Five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a very special family member, Michael Hodge also survive.

A Celebration of Life for Ruth A. Williams will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 8, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Doug Hartley, minister, Rev. Lance McClure and Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Neil Hartley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday prior to the service.

Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

John D. Rainbolt Sr., 70, of Tallmadge, died suddenly on Aug. 13, 2004 at Akron City Hospital.John was born Dec. 18, 1933 in Butler, Tenn. John retired from Ford Motor Co. after 30 years of service and belonged to the First Baptist Church of Tallmadge. He was an avid golfer and gardener.Preceded in death by his father and mother, David and Ethel Rainbolt; brother, Charles "Bud" Rainbolt; brothers-in-law, Mark Shaw, L.B. Ward and Jim White. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Louise; son, John David Jr. (Joani); daughter, Carmen (J.R.) Campbell; his grandchildren whom he loved, Stacie, Tyler and Alyssa; sisters, Mary Alice Shaw, Ruth (Ralph) Williams, Fran Ward, Nancy (Fred) Jenkins, Jane (Ronnie) Miller, Brenda Matherly, Sue (Bart) Smith; in-laws, Gene and Mary Riddle; many loving nieces and nephews; good neighbor, Jess Taylor; and many friends."May the Lord bless and keep you John." David Michael White, 72, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Friday, June 23, 2023, at his residence. He was the son of the late Jimmie White and Lucille Rainbolt White. David retired from Alemite Corporation, working as an engineer. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes with his grandson, being at the lake, fishing and hunting. Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Dylan White of Elizabethton and Jessee White and wife Amber of Bluff City; one grandson, Andrew White of Bluff City; one sister, Maxine Estep Honeycutt of Elizabethton; a nephew, Jon Estep of Elizabethton; and a niece, Martha Jenkins of Florida. A memorial service to honor the life of David will be held at noon on Monday, July 3, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Tapp and Rev. Gary Roe officiating.

Danny Ralph Williams, 63, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center following an extended illness.
Danny was a native of Carter County. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired welder. He loved horses, fishing and hunting.
Danny was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Williams, April 14, 2012.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Johnson, Elizabethton; a grandson, Alex Yates; his mother, Ruth Rainbolt Williams, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, and Elizabethton; his special companion, Jada Peters and her granddaughter, Paige Storie; three sisters, Patricia (John) Hartley and Lynn (Steve) Trivette, all of Elizabethton, and Traci (Lance) McClure, Alta Vista, Va.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services for Danny Ralph Williams will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

HAMPTON - Charles Dean Rainbolt, Jr., 60, Hampton passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 3, 2017.

He was born April 26, 1957 in Elizabethton. Dean was a 1975 graduate of Unaka High School. He was employed as a Dry Wall Finisher. Dean was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church but attended Little Milligan Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and building his race car. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Georgia with his buddies. Dean was preceded in death by his father: Charles Dean "Bud" Rainbolt, his Paternal Grandparents: Dave & Ethel Rainbolt, his Maternal Grandparents: Henry & Juanita Howell.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years: Dawana Lyons Rainbolt. A Daughter: Skylar Butler, A son: Elijah Rainbolt. A Grandson: Asher Oliver. His Mother: Donna Howell Lowry. A Sister: Kimberly Taylor (Tony), A Brother: Joshua Burrow. Step-brothers: Robert Lowry (Debra), Tampa, Florida, Jerry Borkhuis (Peggy), Honey Falls, New York and Jimmy Borkhuis, Jonesborough. Several nieces & nephews including a special nephew: Adreyan Burrow. His fur buddies, Sweetie, Gadget and Buddy.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Wilson and Rev. Sam Isenhour officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the John Whitehead Cemetery, Hampton. Music will be provided by Larry Adams, Soloist and Cathy Wilson, Pianist.
