    ELIZABETHTON - Bessie Hemphill, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at her home. A native of Johnson City, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Ida Morton Campbell. Mrs. Hemphill was a member of Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church, Johnson City. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Hemphill loved going to church and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hemphill was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack F. Hemphill and seven sisters and three brothers.

    Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Debbie Barnes and her husband David of Elizabethton; her son, Gary Hemphill and his wife Sherry of Elizabethton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Sneyd and her husband Carl of Johnson City.

    The family will receive friends and family to share memories from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Tetrick Funeral & Cremation Services, Johnson City. The family requests your presence for a Celebration of Life Service immediately following at 7:00PM with Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City. Attendees are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30AM to follow in procession. Pallbearers will be Jamie Hemphill, Michael Barnes, Chris Barnes, Mark Chatman, Joshua Sneyd and Wayne Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be David Barnes and Jimmy Hemphill. The family will also receive friends at other times at the home.

    JOHNSON CITY - Thelma Lue Sneyd, age 84 of Johnson City, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at her home. She was a daughter of the late Dave and Ida Morton Campbell, born to them on September 12, 1937 in Washington County. She united in marriage to Carl Sneyd and to this union, two loving sons were born. She was a homemaker and attended the Rich Acres Freewill Baptist Church.

    Along with her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Carl Sneyd.

    Thelma is survived by her loving sons, Kyle (Barb) Sneyd and David (Amy) Sneyd; her grandchildren, Josh Sneyd, Heath (Christina) Sneyd, Kelby Sneyd and fiancé Brittney Birchfield; honorary grandchildren, Justin Alley, Jordon and Misty Shepard; her great-grandchildren, Aislynn Sciubba, Mikaela Sciubba and J.T. Hayes. She is also survived by many dear friends left behind to cherish her memory.

    Funeral services for Thelma Lue Sneyd will be conducted on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Kenneth Grindstaff and Brett Jones officiating.

    The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening after 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service at 7:00 P.M.

    A committal service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Roselawn Memorial Park with Heath Sneyd, Josh Sneyd, Kelby Sneyd, Justin Alley, Jordon Shepard, Bobby Sneyd and William David Sneyd serving pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Ford and Bill Garland.

    David Lee Campbell, 62, Johnson City, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at his residence. He was a native of Washington County and had lived in Johnson City most of his life. David was a son of the late David Walter and Ida Bell Morton Campbell. He was an employee of the Washington County Sheriff's Department and was formerly employed by Morris-Baker Funeral Home for many years. David was a staff sergeant in the National Guard, having served for 12 1/2 years. He was a member of the Johnson City Free Will Baptist Church and had volunteered as a chaplain with the Johnson City Police Department David had been the director of youth baseball with the Johnson City Pony League and had been an umpire and referee with Johnson City Parks and Recreation for many years. He was a member of the Arcana Masonic Lodge #489, Limestone. Survivors include his wife, Joan Campbell; three sons, David Wayne Campbell and his wife, Paula, Johnson City, Michael Lee Campbell and his wife, Lori, Knoxville, and Pfc. Daniel Walter Campbell, stationed in Iraq; one daughter, Ida Sue Campbell, of the home; four sisters, Gladys Jones, Reatha Floyd, Bessie Hemphill and Thelma Sneyd, all of Johnson City; one grandson, Andrew John Campbell, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Rex Johnson and Rev. O. P. Stokes will officiate. Masonic rites will immediately follow the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Jonesborough. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. and go in procession to the cemetery. Members of the Washington County Sheriff's Department will serve as pallbearers. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

    ELIZABETHTON - Pennye Darlene Campbell Cable, 75, Elizabethton passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Willard & Edith Maxine Johnson Campbell. Pennye was a 1965 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a former Carter County School Bus Driver and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 17. Pennye was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elwood Cable, a son: Vonell Chris Cable and a sister: Andrea Beth Campbell.

    Survivors include a son & daughter-In-law: Marty & Crystal Cable. A Granddaughter & her husband: Callie & Ethan Miller. A Great-Granddaughter: Alex Paisley McKinney. A Brother-In-Law: Terry Lewis. Several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Cable officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Army Members of 2/27 Wolfhounds 68-69, Terry Lewis, Members of DAV Chapter 17, The Hampton High School Class of 1965 and the entire Millard & Mary Cable family. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the excellent care she received.
