David was a son of the late David Walter and Ida Bell Morton Campbell. He was an employee of the Washington County Sheriff's Department and was formerly employed by Morris-Baker Funeral Home for many years. David was a staff sergeant in the National Guard, having served for 12 1/2 years. He was a member of the Johnson City Free Will Baptist Church and had volunteered as a chaplain with the Johnson City Police Department David had been the director of youth baseball with the Johnson City Pony League and had been an umpire and referee with Johnson City Parks and Recreation for many years. He was a member of the Arcana Masonic Lodge #489, Limestone. Survivors include his wife, Joan Campbell; three sons, David Wayne Campbell and his wife, Paula, Johnson City, Michael Lee Campbell and his wife, Lori, Knoxville, and Pfc. Daniel Walter Campbell, stationed in Iraq; one daughter, Ida Sue Campbell, of the home; four sisters, Gladys Jones, Reatha Floyd, Bessie Hemphill and Thelma Sneyd, all of Johnson City; one grandson, Andrew John Campbell, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Rex Johnson and Rev. O. P. Stokes will officiate. Masonic rites will immediately follow the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Jonesborough. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. and go in procession to the cemetery. Members of the Washington County Sheriff's Department will serve as pallbearers. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the family. |
