    Mr. Charles Howard "Kim" Hendrix, 90, 118 Buck VanHuss Drive, Elizabethton, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

    Mr. Hendrix was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a son of the late Charles and Nancy Campbell Hendrix. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Treadway Hendrix in 1994; also by three brothers, Dana Hendrix, Ed Hendrix and George Hendrix; and by one sister, Margaret Hendrix.

    He was a retired school teacher and coach in the Carter County School System with 33 years of service in the Happy Valley School. He was also a professional photographer and a master woodworker. Mr. Hendrix was a member of Southside Christian Church.

    Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law; Charles H. and Doris Hendrix, of the home; five daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Carmon Dugger, Elizabethton; Jenene an Bill Allen, Pendleton, S.C.; Linda and Bobby Shelton, Elizabethton; Matilda and Tommy Spires, Lake Butler, Fla.; and Dawn and William Stover, Johnson City; a twin sister, Lucille Rocarro, Elizabethton; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

    HENDRIX -- Funeral services for Charles Howard "Kim" Hendrix, 90, 118 Buck VanHuss Drive, Elizabethton, will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, with Mr. Michael Koruschak, minister, officiating. Music will be by Mr. Charles Dugger. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Bayless, Richard Edens, Howard Matherly, Richard Tittle, Harold Chambers, Ray Smith, Willie Church, Dr. Jimmy Pearson, Dr. David Freemon, Dr. David Fletcher, Allen Silver, Joe Treadway and members, deacons and elders of Southside Christian Church. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the Carter County Humane Society, C/O Bob White, P.O. Box 134, Elizabethton, TN 37644 or Southside Christian Church Scholarship Fund, 1605 Southside Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence, or the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bobby Shelton, 122 Buck VanHuss Drive, Elizabethton, at any time. The family, minister, pallbearers and friends will assemble at the funeral chapel at 12:30 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

    Charles married Sarah "Sally" Treadway about 1932 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Sarah (daughter of Roderick Randolph Treadway and Grace Van Hook) was born on 9 Aug 1914 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 29 Nov 1994 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Happy Valley Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Nancy Matilda Hendrix Spires entered into heaven surrounded at home by her loving and devoted family on Monday, June 27, 2016, following an extended illness.

    She was a loving, caring, and gentle-spirited wife, Mom, Nana, Aunt, Cousin, and friend. She was an active member of First Christian Church of Lake Butler, FL where she taught many years in the children's ministry. Besides being a homemaker to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she worked many years at Lake Butler Hospital as a registered nurse. She also served alongside her husband operating Spires IGA for over 30 years.

    She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas C. "Tom" Spires; daughter, Shelly Spires Starling and husband Ricky; son, Mike spires and wife Sharlene; daughter, Sara Spires Owen and husband Ken; 11 grandchildren, Zachary Starling, Amanda Spires Simmons, Christopher Starling, Trey Owen, Georgie Spires, Madeline Spires, Sara Allyson Owen, Matthew Starling, Andrew Starling, Amy Owen, and Timothy Spires; sisters, Charlotte Hendrix Dugger, Elizabethton, TN, Janene Hendrix Allen and husband Bill, and Linda Hendrix Shelton, Kingsport, TN; a sister-in-law, Lila Spires Mader and husband Bob, Ocala, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Mrs. Spires was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Howard "Kim" Hendrix, Sr. and Sarah Viola "Sally" Treadway Hendrix; a brother, Charles Howard Hendrix, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth Dawn Hendrix Stover.

    Visitation will be held at First Christian Church of Lake Butler on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 6 - 8 p.m. Services will be on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church of Lake Butler and Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Christian Church in Elizabethton, TN. Services will be conducted by Art Peterson and Shane Collins in Lake Butler and Art Peterson and Michael Koruschak in Elizabethton.

    Friends may call on the family at the Spires' home in Lake Butler, FL and at the home of her sister, Charlotte Hendrix Dugger in Elizabethton, TN.

    Active pallbearers will be Zachary Starling, Christopher Starling, Trey Owen, Matthew Starling, Andrew Starling, Joey Mader, Joshua Mader, Jay Dugger, Charles Dugger, Curtis P. Dugger, Carmon Dugger, Jr., and Todd Bishop.
