Funeral services for Johnnie D. Bare, 38, who died unexpectedly at his home on Route 3, Elizabethton at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, will be conducted at the Harmony Baptist Church, of which he was a deacon, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Purcell and the Rev. Homer Couch of Travelers Rest, S. C., officiating. Burial will be in the Range Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Deacon's Board of the Harmony Baptist Church.
Flower bearers will be members of the B.Y.P.U. Training Union and members of the Sunday School Class, which he taught.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Bare, four sons, Jack, Glenn, Ray and Johnnie, Jr., all of the home; two daughters, Betty Jean and Linda Bare also of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Bare of West Jefferson, N.C.; six brothers, Howard, Tom, Henry and Paul Bare all of Elizabethton, and Pell and Burley Bare of Greensboro, N.C.; and four sisters, Mrs. Loyd Goodman of Greensboro, N.C., Mrs. Gene Burrow and Mrs. Sam Fair both of Elizabethton and Mrs. Arnold Wyrick of Jefferson, N.C.
The body was returned to the home Saturday at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Tetrick Funeral Home where it will remain until 12:30 p.m. Sunday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the funeral hour.

Ossie Burrow, age 88, went to be with her Lord Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the home of her daughter, Jayne Nidiffer, 1014 Frosty Lane, Elizabethton, following a lengthy illness. She had previously been a resident of Ivy Hall Nursing Home until December, 2005. A native of Ashe County, NC, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Maude Miller Bare. Mrs. Burrow was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She loved to cook and regularly cooked Wednesday night meals at the church and retired as cook from Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burrow was preceded in death by her husband Harry Eugene Burrow, six brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter, Debbie Kay Ensor and two great-granddaughters, Haley and Megan Burrow.
Survivors are two sons, Charles Terry Burrow, Roger Dale Burrow, both of Elizabethton, four daughters, Charlotte Jean Deloach, Patsy Peters, Virginia "Jenny" Hodge, D. Jayne Nidiffer, all of Elizabethton, sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Burley Bare, Greensboro, NC and one sister, Betty White, High Point, NC. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Ms. Burrow will be conducted at 8 pm Tuesday, September 26 in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Eric Eggers, Rev. Bobby Burrow and Rev. Dennis Deese officiating. Music will be under the direction of Patty Hodge, soloist and Kristel Headly, pianist.
The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 27 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Edwin Taft Bare, 83, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Edwin was born on April 10, 1933 in Elizabethton, Tenn., the son of Howard Taft and Dorothy Hale Bare.
Edwin served his country in the U.S. Air Force while stationed in Saudi Arabia, helping build their communication system.
Following his military service, he worked a short time in the communications field. He went on to form Truck Service of Greensboro and retired from there after 23 years of ownership. He loved to rebuild cars and street rods and was awarded many trophies for his restorations. He founded and led Bussin' Buddies, at Sumner Baptist Church, keeping hundreds entertained and laughing for years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 642 in Greensboro and loved to water ski. In 2015, he was voted into the Carter County Hall of Fame in his home county in Tennessee for football records that have not been beat to this day. He has also been honored at the Carolina Field of Honor for his service in the U.S. Air Force. Of all the accomplishments he earned during his lifetime, the greatest is the legacy he will leave behind. He showed love and kindness to everyone, always seeing the best in people even when others didn't. He loved and supported his family no matter what, constantly putting them first over himself. He was a devout Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Edwin is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Dixie Bare; son, Danny Bare; grandchildren, Christos Corkhill and husband Jonathan and Justin Bare; great-grandchildren, Londyn and Harper Corkhill; brothers, J.D. Bare and Grady Bare; sisters, Bonnie Ray and Vivian Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with burial to follow with full military rites at Guilford Memorial Park.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Harry Eugene and Ossie Bare Burrow.
Charlotte worked at Levi-Strauss and retired from Big Lots. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Buddy Deloach; a son, Billy Ray Deloach; a sister, Jayne Nidiffer; a brother, Charles Terry Burrow; and a brother-in-law, J.M. Peters.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Deloach Walker and husband Rick; two grandchildren, Travis Walker and Leah Deloach; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Peyton Norris; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Deloach; two sisters, Pat Peters and Jennie Hodge and husband Lawrence; one brother, Roger Dale Burrow and wife Lisa; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Burrow; several nieces and nephews; and also her fur baby, Simon.
Funeral services for Charlotte Jean Deloach will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Burrow, her nephew, officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Charles Terry Burrow, 77, of Elizabethton, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 23, 2017, from the Johnson City Medical Center. Charles (Terry) was born on November 23, 1940 in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Harry E. Burrow and Ossie Bare Burrow. He was preceded in death by Diana Jane Burrow; a niece, Debbie Kay Ensor; a nephew, Bill Deloach; and two brothers-in-law, Buddy Deloach and J.M. Peters.
Terry enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was retired from Inland Container, following 36 years of service, and was an active member of Bible Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Geraldine Smith Burrow, of the home; one son, Robert Burrow and wife Shawna; one daughter, Lisa Ann Burrow and fiancé, Charles Peters; four grandchildren, Brandon Collins and wife Brittany, Bryant Collins and wife Nikki, Ean Burrow and M'Lisa Burrow; three great-grandchildren, Arie Collins, Weston Collins and Brylee Collins; three sisters, Charlotte Deloach, Patsy Peters and Virginia Hodge and husband Lawrence; and one brother, Roger Burrow and wife Lisa. Diane "Jayne" Nidiffer, 71, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 26, 2016. She passed away at home surrounded by family and her dogs, Niko, Prince and Cookie, after an extended illness.
Born in Elizabethton, she was a daughter of the late Eugene "Gene" and Ossie Bare Burrow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Buddy Deloach; a nephew, Bill Deloach; and a niece, Debbie Kay Ensor.
Jayne lived her entire life in Elizabethton and was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. She loved attending church and spending time with her family.
She leaves behind a large family to cherish her memory that includes a daughter, Vicki Gregg; a son, Jonathan Nidiffer and wife Paula; her sisters, Charlotte Deloach, Patsy Peters and husband J.M., and Jenny Hodge and husband Lawrence; her brothers, Terry Burrow and wife Geraldine and Roger Dale Burrow and wife Lisa; her grandchildren, Jeremy Gregg and wife Miranda and Travis Gregg and wife Brittanie; five great-grandchildren; and a special little boy that was the love of her life, Noah Malo.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Shelia Lowe, sister Jenny, her hospice nurse, Greg Matney, and Dr. Suzanna Shine. They would also like to thank the staff of Mountain States Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during her illness.

ELIZABETHTON - Jackie Fair Boone, age 65, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. Jackie was born in Elizabethton to the late Samuel Hyder Fair, Jr. and Goldie Pearl Bare Fair. In addition to her parents, Jackie was also preceded in death by a sister, Janet Fair Morgan; an infant sister, Barbara Jean Fair; and a sister-in-law, Marianne Fair.
Jackie retired as a law enforcement officer with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department. She loved animals, deeply cared for her family, grandchildren and furbabies. She made friends wherever she went and never knew a stranger. Jackie was the biggest “cut-up” you could ever meet and loved to laugh more than anything. She could not always attend church but her strong faith in God got her through many tough days. No matter what happened to her in life she never lost faith in God and Jesus Christ.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Susan (David) Kilday of Greeneville, TN; her son, Timothy Fair and fiancé, Leanna Booher of Johnson City; her grandchildren, Jamon, Joshua, Bailey, Aala, Foster, Claire and Hope; two brothers, Ronnie (Becky) Fair of Elizabethton and Randy Fair of Jonesborough. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 10, 2021 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home Elizabethton with _______ officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Friday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 11, 2021 in the Highland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jamon Kyte, Joshua Kyte, Wiley Morgan, Rick Morgan, Timothy Fair and David Kilday.

BLOUNTVILLE - Roxie Bare Williams 78, of Blountville, went home to be with the Lord Aug 17, 2021 from the Ballad Health Hospice House, Bristol TN. She was born in Elizabethton to the late Roby & Blanche Vandeventer Bare. She was a graduate of Mary Hughes High School. Roxie Bare Williams was retired after 30 + years of service with pharmaceutical companies in Bristol (Massengills, Beecham, Glaxo-Smithkline). She was a hard worker, loved Jesus, her kids and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia McCloud and eight Brothers, George D. Bare, Jessie Paul Bare, Burl Dean Bare, Bob Bare, Jack Bare, William “Dude” Bare, Lawrence “Jr.” Bare, and Luther “Buster” Bare.

Survivors include her husband, John Williams of Blountville; son, Steve Williams & Amanda Sherfey, of Bristol; her twin daughters, Jamie Miller & her husband Jason, Julie Massey & her husband Jason (Jay), & two Grandchildren, Mindy Miller and Jaxon Massey; sisters, Lois Dishner, Ruth “Bootsie” Humphrey and Betty Thomas all of Bluff City, and Sue Harkleroad, of Elizabethton. A Graveside service to honor the life of Roxie Bare Williams will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2021 at Morrell Cemetery (Mountain View) Bluff City. JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Mamie Bare Keys, 102, Jonesborough, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Keys was born in Sullivan County and the daughter of the late Dewey Martin & Flora Friesland Bare. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Keys in 1981, siblings, Herman Bare (Clara), Fred Bare (Irene), Kenneth Bare (Ruth), Howard Bare, Cecil Bare (Elsie), James Bare (Julie), Billy Bare (Bernice) and Deanna Bare Miller and a grandson, Troy Keys.

She had been a member of Jonesborough Church of Christ for 70 years.

Mrs. Keys was a homemaker. A member of Hales Home Demonstration Club. She was an expert seamstress and worked part-time in alterations at Hannah’s Men’s Store. She loved spending time with family, working in her flower garden and crocheting. She was an avid reader.

She attended the Bare family reunion faithfully for 30 years which was held in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania.

Survivors include her children, Tony N. Keys (Trudy), Telford and Freida Keys Renfro (Dean), Limestone; grandchildren, David Renfro (Beth), Daniel Renfro (Trisha), Lindsey Renfro Clark (Steven) and Terah Keys Moore (Chris); eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Bare-Sneeringer, Florida; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM, Monday, February 6, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Tony Sayre officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Monte Vista Burial Park. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM.

Delano Clay Bare, 80, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the V.A. Hospital, Nashville. He was born in Ashe County, N.C., and was the son of Myrtle Phillips Bare, Johnson City, Tenn., and the late Arvel Glenn Bare. Mr. Bare retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service and then worked as a mechanic with Forbes Service Station in Elizabethton for many years. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church, Elizabethton. Mr. Bare loved hunting and fishing and was an avid Elizabethton High School football and Elizabethton Twins baseball fan. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 51 years, Christa Gritl Bare, Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Joanne Tindall and her husband Billy, Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Clay Christian Bare and his wife Helen, Houston, Texas, and Stephen Glenn Bare and his wife Julie, Porterdale, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Hayes, Johnson City, Tenn. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A service to honor the life of Delano Clay Bare will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, October 12, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Bruce Hendrix and Rev. Bob Polk officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.

Mr. Bill Deloach, 55, of Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was the son of the Charlotte Burrow Deloach of Elizabethton and the late William Buddy Deloach.
Mr. Deloach was employed by Volunteer Floor Covering, Roan Mountain, and was of the Baptist Faith. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and was interested in old cars.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 10 years, Michelle Malone Deloach, of the home; a daughter, Leah Deloach, Johnson City; a step-daughter, Trista Freeman, of the home; a step-son, Codey Carter, of the home; two grandchildren, Hannah Norris, the light of his life, of the home; Payton Norris, Johnson City; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Rick Walker, Elizabethton; a nephew, Travis Walker, Elizabethton; a special uncle, Roger Burrow, Elizabethton; his special mother-in-law, Evelyn Malone, Bluff City; and several other aunts and uncles. Two special friends, Ricky Hatley and Keith "Myron" Montgomery also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Deloach will be conducted on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Ben Sheets officiating. Music will be under the direction of Joel Crisp. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, on Wednesday prior to the service, at his home, or at the home of his mother, at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Myron Montgomery, Rick Hatley, Kenny Bouton, Rob Miller, Chris Blumenstock, and Randy Cross. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Depew and his fellow employees of Volunteer Floor Covering.

JOHNSON CITY - Mark Earl Malone, age 56, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City, following an extended illness. Mark was born in Elizabethton on June 20, 1965 to the late Earl D Malone. In addition to his father, Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Oates, his paternal grandparents, Earl and Chessie Bare Malone.

Mark enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, watching UT Football, listening to classic rock and especially being a “pappy” to his beautiful granddaughter, Presley Woods.

Those left to honor and cherish the memory of Mark Earl Malone include his daughter, Brandi Woods (Blake); his granddaughter, Presley Woods; former spouse of 25 years and beloved mother to his daughter, Sheila Malone; former mother and father in-law, Kenneth and Loretta Rainbolt; paternal uncle, Gene Oaks; special aunt, Judy Malone; special cousin, John David Malone; faithful friends, Shannon Grindstaff, Bob Cordell, Dan Britt and Joe Cross; several cousins also survive.

ELIZABETHTON - Brandi Renee Malone Woods, age 36, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Brandi was born in Johnson City to Sheila Renee Rainbolt Malone and the late Mark Malone.
Brandi was an LPN and worked at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center and was working towards becoming an RN. She enjoyed shopping and her daughter Presley was her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Malone; Paternal Grandfather, Earl D. Malone; Aunt, Robin Page and Paternal Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Oates.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 13 years, Blake Woods of the home; daughter, Presley Woods, the sunshine of her life, also of the home; mother, Sheila Rainbolt Malone of Elizabethton; mother-in-law, Debbie Page of Johnson City; brother-in-law, Justin Woods (Genie) of Indiana; special great aunt, Pat Bates of Kingsport; maternal grandparents, Kenneth & Loretta Rainbolt of Elizabethton and two special aunts, Felecia Lewis of Elizabethton and Sandra Henderson of Alabama. A service to honor the life of Brandi Renee Malone Woods will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, TN with Mr. Brad Perry officiating and a eulogy delivered by her mother, Sheila Malone. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel of the funeral home. It was Brandi’s wish to be cremated.
