    Willard E. Vandeventer, Jr., 81, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on June 7, 2006, at his residence. He was the son of Willard Ezra Vandeventer, Sr. and Edna Livsey Vandeventer.

    Willard was of the Baptist faith. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge of Johnson City and the Moose Lodge in Pulaski, VA. He graduated from Duke University in 1948. He served as a flight officer in the United States Army Air Corp. He was Vice-President and Comptroller of TN and VA Natural Gas Company. He was the owner of Varnell Tax Service in Rogersville, TN, where he served as President and C.P.A. Willard loved golf, fishing and traveling. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Vandeventer and sister, Leona Vandeventer.

    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, daughter, son, sister, three grandsons, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at 4:00 PM in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with Dr. Gary Montgomery officiating. Music will be provided by Parkway Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 PM prior to the service.

    A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post #3382.

    Willard married Coranova Christine "Chris" Buckles about 1953 in , Giles County, Tennessee, . Coranova (daughter of Luther Buckles and Pearl Essie Buckles) was born about 1929 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 23 May 2016 in Thurston County, , , Washington; was buried in Mountain Home National Cemetery, , Washington County, Tennessee.
