    Earnest G. Chambers, 85, 232 Coal Chute Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, after a lengthy illness.

    Mr. Chambers was a Carter County native and a son of the late Henry W. and Callie Deloach Chambers.

    He retired as an employee of Beaunit Fibers, Elizabethton.

    Mr. Chambers was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal with Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, five Bronze service stars, the American Defense Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Jewell Adams Chambers, in March; and three brothers, Frank Chambers, Bill Chambers and Elmer Chambers.

    Survivors include two sons, Van Chambers and Fred Chambers, both of Elizabethton; three sisters, Christine Chambers and Dorothy Chambers, both of Elizabethton, and Ruby Glover, Bristol, Va.; and one stepgranddaughter.

    Earnest married Ruby Jewel Adams on 7 Apr 1947 in Carter County, , , Tennessee. Ruby (daughter of Harry A. Adams and Celia J. Smith) was born about 1918 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 19 Mar 2001 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried on 21 Mar 2001 in Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee.     Ms. Dorothy Chambers, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Henry William and Callie Deloach Chambers and was born in Elizabethton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Ms. Chambers was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church and a retired waitress from Tasty Freeze. Ms. Chambers is survived by a sister, Ruby Glover, Bristol, Va.; two nieces, Vickie Chambers and Louanne Chambers, both of Elizabethton; and five nephews, Terry Chambers, Fred Chambers, Elizabethton, Johnny Chambers, Houston, Texas, Ed Glover and Larry Glover, both of Bristol, Va. A grand-niece, Brandi Glover, Abingdon, Va., also survives. A Celebration of Life service to honor Dorothy Chambers will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Ed Glover, minister, and Rev. Larry Glover officiating. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews.

    ELIZABETHTON — Miss Christine D. Chambers, age 82, formerly of 220 Coal Chute Road , Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord at Life Care Center of Elizabethton on Saturday, February 3, 2007, following a brief illness.

    A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Callie Deloach Chambers. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. Miss Chambers was preceded in death by four brothers.

    Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Glover, Bristol, VA, and Dorothy Chambers, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews and special friend, Jean Matherly, Elizabethton, also survive.

    The funeral service for Miss Chambers will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Glover and Pastor Larry Glover officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
