    Notes:

James Heyward DeLoach, 94, was the son of the late David Erastus and Eliza Ellen (Martin) DeLoach. Born on March 14, 1917, he was raised on a farm in Denmark, Georgia. His family relocated to Rockhill, S.C., when he was a teenager. After graduating from Winthrop Training School, he worked as a clerk with Seaboard Railway briefly before being drafted in WWII. After serving his country, he landed his dream employment with National Linen. There he had the opportunity to travel around the country, but always returning home to Columbia. One of his favorite past times was to reminisce about his travels and adventures with National Linen. After retirement, he worked with Anderson Armored Car Service well into his 80s.

He was known for his infectious smile, thirst for life, and faithfulness. He took pleasure in cleaning his yard and driving his Cadillac in the Columbia area. Due to his long standing residence of more than 60 years in Columbia, he had become a recognizable face and friend to many. Heyward will be truly missed, but forever remembered. He was a longtime member of Park Street Baptist Church. He also enjoyed watching Dr. Charles Stanley when he could not attend church.

He is predeceased by six siblings; Katye DeLoach, Edna McKenzie, Charles DeLoach, Ralph DeLoach, Rufus DeLoach, and Luree (York; Griffin). Surviving are his nephew, Thomas David McKenzie of Chesapeake, Virginia; and niece, Jackie Cherry of Columbia; and many other loving relatives and friends.
