Johnson was the retired owner and operator of Johnson Electric Company. He
was a 50-year member of Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge 566 F & AM. Mr. Johnson
was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.

Omer "Wilt" Johnson, 99, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at The Waters at Roan Highlands Nursing Center. Mr. Johnson was born in Carter County and was the son of the late Jacob and Dovie Ledford Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl Johnson, Ed Johnson, Ike Johnson, Clarence Johnson and Dayton Johnson; four sisters, Ballie Brown, Lori McMahan, Pearl Johnson and Cenia Cordell; and three grandchildren, Sherry Babb, Timmy Woodby and Paul Hathaway.
Mr. Johnson was a member of St. John's Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming, logging and working with his horses.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Texie Johnson, Roan Mountain; four daughters, Margaret Whitehead (Arnold), Roan Mountain, Grace Wagner, Hampton, Frankie Woodby, Elizabethton, and Robin McKinney, Roan Mountain; two sons, Jerry Johnson, Elizabethton, and Wilson "Junior" Johnson, Hampton; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Doyle, Teresa Simerly, Michael Woodby, Dusty Woodby, Wesley Woodby, Randy Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Carrie Johnson, Christy Johnson, Tammie Rinehart and Travis McKinney; 15 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends in the Rhododendron Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 25. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery with Rev. Randy English officiating. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Jones, Merle Townsend, Jeff McKinney with others selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the Rhododendron Chapel in Roan Mountain at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late John and Daisy Birchfield Johnson. She was a member of Grays Chapel Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and a member of Order of Eastern Star Hampton Chapter #470.

Mr. Paul Johnson, age 82, of Roan Mountain, TN passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018

at his residence. A native of Roan Mountain, he was the son of the late John and Daisy Birchfield Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a retired U.S. Navy Chief and he served during the Vietnam War. He was the owner of the White Way Grill. Mr. Johnson was the V.F.W. Post # 2166 Commander and a member and Past Master of the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge # 566 F&AM and was a past Vice-President and Founder of the Jericho Shrine Temple of Roan Mountain.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katrene Willis Johnson and five sisters, Viola Roark, Edith Holdren, Deliah Freeman, Creola Gentry and Ora Tony. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Paula Johnson Rovelo, Roan Mountain and Laura Johnson Szillus and husband Ken, Rio Rancho, NM. Two granddaughters, Paulina Katrene Rovelo, Roan Mountain and Angela Szillus, Rio Rancho, NM also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Paul Johnson will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain. Masonic service will be held at the funeral home by the Roan Mountain Masonic Lodge # 566 F&AM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Sunday prior to the service.

Mr. Johnson was a member and deacon of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church and a retired machinist from Alemite Corporation. He was a 1950 graduate of Hampton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Korea.

ELIZABETHTON - James "Lynn" Johnson, age 78, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from his residence.

Lynn was born in Elizabethton to the late James Stuart and Lucy Campbell Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Johnson.

Before retirement, Lynn was a district manager of Overnite Transportation/ UPS and was a member of Valley Forge United Methodist Church. Lynn was a certified lay speaker with the Methodist Church and traveled a lot before his sickness – speaking and filling in. He loved Alabama football and enjoyed playing golf before his illness.

Kathleen Burleson, 74, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at her residence. Kathleen was born in Roan Mountain to the late Walter and Vallie Johnson Brown. In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, William Burleson; a daughter, Lisa Gail Brown Salley; and a nephew, Bobby Brown.
Kathleen was a wonderful cook, homemaker and mother. She was sassy and an excellent improviser — she was able to think quick and work efficiently in all situations. Kathleen was a Christian lady and taught Sunday School at Roan Mountain Church of God for several years and had also served as the church treasurer. Most of all, Kathleen loved her family and working in her flowers. She was a true perfectionist with her yard.
Those left to cherish Kathleen’s memories include a son, Ronnie L. Beam of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; her son-in-law, Randy Salley of North Carolina; her brother, Jack (Juanita) Brown of Virginia; and her special friend, Louise Hughes. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Lonnie Roark, age 70, of Mooresville, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and his beautiful wife Judy, on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, North Carolina. Lonnie was born on February 18, 1946 to the late Walter and Viola Johnson Roark. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Hitechew Roark; and one brother, David Roark.

Lonnie retired as a quality control manager and was a United States Marine veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hot rod cars, gardening, and reading and studying the Bible. Lonnie was a loving, gentle faithful man, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Bertha Ellen Cole, age 74, of Lenoir, NC passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at her home in Lenoir, NC.

She was born on April 17, 1944, in Carter County, Tenn., a daughter of David and Etta Hicks Johnson.

Bertha was a devoted mother and grandmother who never met a stranger. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking, but mostly spending time with her grand-babies

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son: Lonnie Johnson; daughter: Linda Ann Cole; Brothers: Jake Johnson, John Johnson and Jim Johnson; Sisters: Helen Oakes, Sylvia Clawson, Cleo Marlowe and Kay Cole.

Bertha leaves behind to cherish her memory her Husband: Willie Cole; Daughters: Irma (Darrell) Higgins of Lenoir, NC, Donna (Randall) Fillers of Lenoir, NC, Jessica (Blake) Bouillion of Lenoir, NC; Sisters: Kathleen Clawson of Roan Mountain, Tenn., Suzanne (Roy) Thomas of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Judy Philyaw of Lenoir, NC; Grandchildren: Amanda Higgins, Angela Higgins, Joshua Higgins, Amanda Kaylor, Ashley Clawson, Amber Johnson, Aimee Johnson, Henry Bouillion, Randy Greene (who lived with his Granny) and Brandon Greene, as well as 12 Great Grandchildren.

Services for Bertha Ellen Cole will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, from the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cooke officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning noon on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Johnson Cemetery on Buck Mountain following the funeral service.

Bertha married Willie Elwood Cole about 1960. Willie (son of Floyd Watson Cole and Savada Malinda Miller) was born on 9 Jun 1937 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 1 May 2019 in Caldwell County, , , North Carolina; was buried in Taylors Chapel Cemetery, , Avery County, North Carolina. Christine B. Fields, 86, of Roan Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center following an extended illness. Christine was born in Avery County, N.C., to the late Steve and Mabel Palmer Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Edward Fields, in 1994, and a daughter, Carmelita Fields Johnson.
Christine was a homemaker, a loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a member of Roan Mountain Church of Christ and enjoyed making crafts and visiting auctions and flea markets.
Those left to cherish her memory include five sons, Freddie Fields and wife Joy, Ed Fields and wife Karen, Rick Fields and wife Melissa, Robert Fields and wife Shelly and Cecil Fields and wife Monica, all of Roan Mountain, and one son-in-law, Jack Johnson, also of Roan Mountain. Brothers, sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mrs. Christine B. Fields will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, in the Fields Cemetery in the Buck Mountain Community of Roan Mountain with Mr. Clarence Cannon, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Tetrick Rhododendron Chapel in Roan Mountain at 1:30 p.m. Friday to go in procession. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice, Roan Highlands Nursing Center and Johnson City Medical Center-Nursing Unit 4500, for the love and care shown to Mrs. Fields and her family during her illness.

Christine married Dock Edward Fields about 1948. Dock (son of Fred Austin Fields and Louretta Powers Silcox) was born on 5 Jan 1925 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; died on 27 Dec 1994 in Carter County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Fields Cemetery, , Carter County, Tennessee. Lonnie Dale Johnson, age 45, of Lenoir died July 8, 2013 at his residence. He was born December 30, 1967. He was a mechanic and enjoyed 4 wheeling.

Along with his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary Johnson of the home; daughters, Amanda Kaylor of Lenoir, Ashley Clawson and husband Jason of Elk Park, Amber Johnson of Lenoir, Aimee Johnson of Lenoir; step-daughters, Jennifer Wyatt of Lenoir, Crystal Fenner and husband Charles of Lenoir; sisters, Irma Higgins, Donna Fillers, Linda Cole, Jessica Bouillion all of Lenoir; nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Grandfather Chapel with Rev. Danny Cooke officiating. Interment in the Johnson Cemetery.
