Mr. Lovelace was the son of the late Clinton Ray and Elsie Lee Campbell Lovelace. In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by a sister, Sherry Lovelace, and a nephew, Adam Culbert. He was of the Baptist faith.

Benny was a fun loving person who enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a kind hearted and loving man who never held a grudge against anyone. His passions in life were many, but none were as important to him as his family. Benny was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Shirley Lovelace, and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Mr. Lovelace was the owner of Cherokee Metals, and prior to that was a former employee of Allied Metals. He loved working on cars and watching NASCAR, and had also found great enjoyment in deer hunting. He had a true love for bass fishing and was a member of several fishing clubs. Most knew him as a jokester who loved to tease his friends.

In addition to his wife, Benny is survived by a son, Jimmy Allen Lovelace and his wife, Ashley, and their daughter, Ryleigh, of Johnson City; four daughters: Laura Rutherford and her husband, Joseph, and their children, Joseph, Jr., Kristina-Marie, Michael, and Sean, of Norton, OH, Kim Oliver and her husband, David, and their children, Jordan, Kayli, and Koby, of Springfield, TN, Sherry Arnett and her husband, Josh, and their daughter, Addison, of Warner Robins, GA, and Tracy McGuire and her husband, Todd, and their children, Camden, Cayden, and Colten, of Jonesborough. Survivors also include 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Lovelace, Jonesborough; a sister, Paula Richards, Johnson City; his uncle, J.C. Campbell and his wife, Jeanette, Roan Mountain; his step-mother, Thelma Lovelace, Johnson City; a special sister-in-law, Sheila Culbert and Kevin Shaw, Jonesborough; a brother-in-law, John Elrod, Johnson City; nieces, Amy Elrod, Autumn Carter, Elizabeth Lovelace, and Karen Jo Matherly; nephews, Zach and Clint Lovelace; great-niece and great-nephew, Haley and Isaiah Elrod; and his loving companions, his dogs, Corben and Chloe.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the nurses and doctors of the ICU Dept. of the JCMC, and all his many special friends that were more like a brother to him including, but most certainly not limited to, Johnny Johnson, Donnie Davis, Billy Jack Cowan, and Gerald Jones.

A Celebration of Life service for Benny Lovelace will be conducted at 6:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the chapel of Tribute Funeral and Cremation Services. The service will be officiated by his family and friends.
