    Notes:

    On 18 April 1890, Emily Guy filed a suit to claim her dower from her deceased husband John C. Guy. The defendants in the suit were her daughter Martha E. Guy Trivett and her husband William Grant Guy, her son John C. Guy, Jr., and her daughter Rebecca Ann Guy, In the suit, she stated that Horton Guy and Martha E. Guy Trivett were the only lawful heirs of her husband John C. Guy. She further stated that John C. Guy, Jr. and Rebecca Ann Guy were interested parties to the suit. Her request was for one third of a tract of land on the Watauga River, and all houses and out buildings on the property, that was conveyed to her husband John C. Guy, Sr. by her father J. M. Smith on 2 Dec 1861. Her request for the dower was approved by a jury on 24 April 1890.

Born in Watauga County May 14, 1935, he was a son of the late Roy Lee and Isabell Trivette. Dexter was an electrician and a farmer. He was a co-owner of Mountaineer Electric for many years.

    He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Willrea Ward Trivette of the Foley Center in Blowing Rock, two daughters, Brickie Townsend and husband Bennie of Mountain City, and Vickie Trivette of Vilas, seven grandchildren, Anthony Townsend and wife Tonya of Mountain City, Bradley Townsend and wife Sage of Navarre, FL, Hadley Townsend and wife Amy of Elizabethton, TN, Stana Coffey of Boone, Karla Arnold and husband Van of Mountain City, Shannon Coffey of Blowing Rock and Josh Trivette of Zionville, nine great grandchildren one sister, Lennis Snyder and husband Allen of Mountain City, one sister in law, Glenda Hodges of Boone and one brother in law, Linville P. Ward of Boone, and a number of nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Rickie Dee Trivette, three sisters, Nellie Stephens and husband Steve, Blanche Carter and husband David and Orbie Ward, and one brother, Dennis Trivette.

    Mr. Guy was the owner of Guy's Folk Toys and was of the Baptist faith.
    Surviving is one sister, Marie Guy Greene of Elk Park; and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Guy Hicks; and one brother, Ray Guy.
    Services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Warren. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery.

    She was born on May 20, 1928, in Beech Mountain, NC, a daughter of the late Conley Phillips and the late Susie Guy Phillips.

    She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband: Dallas Storie; Daughter: Janelle Hunt; four brothers and one sister.

    Luella enjoyed going to the Avery Co. Senior Center, Watching "Days of Our Lives" and watching "Hee Haw." She also enjoyed cooking, but most importantly she loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

    Luella leaves behind to cherish her memory her Son: Van (Trevetta) Storie of Ft. Mill, SC; Daughter: Sherry (Roy) Finley of Forest City, NC; Daughter: Regina (Lee Bumgardner) Clark of Lenoir, NC; Daughter: Amanda (Daniel) Vance of Crossnore, NC: seven Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, two Great-Great Grandchildren and several special Nieces and Nephews.

    Funeral Services for Luella Storie will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 at Fall Creek Baptist Church, with Pastor Chuck Morefield officiating.

    The family will receive friends beginning at noon up until the service hour at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Fall Creek Baptist Church.

    Interment will follow in the Cook Cemetery on Beech Mountain.

Tom was a fifty year member of Johnson City Masonic Lodge # 486, Jericho Shrine where he was a former Roadrunner and the Nolachuckey-Grand View # 194, Order of Eastern Star. He was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

    Survivors include his wife Mary Ellen Godsey Cowan. Two Children: Tommy R. Cowan, Elizabethton and Kathy Waldrop & Robert Miller, Jonesborough. Five Grandchildren: Valerie Hyatt, Heather Pate, Amber Pate, Whitney Rutledge and Thomas Cowan. Eleven Great Grandchildren.

    Eddie Joe Guy, age 68, of Mountain City, TN passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Frye Hospital in Hickory, NC. He was born on March 11, 1954 to the late Ray Odell Guy and Thelma Lee Hicks Guy.

    Eddie was a truck driver for 50 years and he was the best. Eddie and Cindy were extremely close, they loved each other deeply. They trucked together, gardened together and did almost everything together. The Most important thing to Eddie was serving God. He loved the Lord. He was a Sunday school superintendent, played guitar and sang in church. Eddie was a blessing to everyone who knew him and he never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be missed deeply.

    Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 25 years, Cindy Burton Guy; his daughter Kelly Guy and friend David; his two daughters, not by blood, but by love, Melissa Robinson and husband William and Tonya Burton and fiancé, Brian Willis; his five precious grandchildren, Danielle, Dalton, Desirea, Derek, and Dara Bella.

    The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church ( Foscoe, NC) with Preacher Tyler Street and Preacher Jeff Guy to officiate. The graveside service and burial will follow the funeral from the Ward Family Cemetery.
