Dewey Lyons, 78, Rt. 2 Roan Mountain, died at his residence Monday following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late George and Katie Lyons. He was a member of Crabtree Freewill Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Carter County Road Department. Mr. Carr was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Lee and Belle Lyons Carr. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Edel Carr Sams; six brothers, Arvy, Jess, Arline, Andre, Paul and Silas; a stepson, Sam Bowers II; and a granddaughter, Julie Seymore.
Mr. Carr was a decorated World War II U.S. Army veteran, Staff Sergeant and Squad Leader, Army 6th Division, in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation, after 41 years, and a member of East River Park Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.



CARR -- Funeral services for Frank Carr, 82, 135 Old Stoney Loop, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, January 22, 2002, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 25, at East River Park Christian Church with Mr. John H. Mrs. Minnie Lyons McKeehan, 97, 284 Tester Road, Elizabethton died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Ellen Arnett Lyons. Mrs. McKeehan was a homemaker and she was a member of Lynn Avenue Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Taylor McKeehan; a son, Roy McKeehan; a grandson, Howard Lee McKeehan Jr.; three sons-in-law, Nick Bartalone, William R. Kite and Thomas Herman; five brothers, Harrison Lyons, Alvin Lyons, Jack Lyons, Joe Lyons and Anderson Lyons and a sister, Geneva Hubbard. Survivors include three sons, Norman "Buddy" McKeehan and Howard McKeehan, both of Spruce Pine, NC and Ralph E. McKeehan, Elizabethton; seven daughters, Ola Kite, Kingsport; Peggy Johnson and Pearl Solis, both of Hobbs, New Mexico; Phyllis Bartalone, Elizabethton, Kay Herman, Johnson City, Margaret Lewis, Elizabethton and Wanalynn Chapman, Jonesborough; two brothers, Edward Lyons, Johnson City and Sam Lyons Jr., Indiana and three sisters, Annie Tester, Elizabethton, Martha Fuller, Phoenix, Arizona and Mary Lou Freeman, North Carolina. Funeral service for Mrs. Minnie Lyons McKeehan will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14, 2010 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Greene officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Thursday prior to the funeral service.

Anna Evelyn Lyons Tester, 98, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 30, 2015, in the Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by her family and her church family.

A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Sam D. & Sara Ellen Arnett Lyons. She was retired from the American Bemberg Corporation.

Mrs. Tester faithfully attended Zion Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshipping with her church family. She was a member of First Church of God. She loved both church families. Mrs. Tester loved working in her flowers and enjoyed sharing them with her friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Tester in 1998, by a son: Charles Tester, two sisters: Geneva Hubbard and Minnie McKeehan and seven brothers: Harrison, Anderson, Joe, Edd, Alvin, Jack & Samuel Junior Lyons.

Survivors include Her Grandsons: Mike Tester and wife Lori, Clearwater, Florida and Drew Tester and wife Jessica, Richmond, Virginia. Two Great Grandchildren: Belle & Ruby. Two Sisters: Martha Fuller, Glendale, Arizona and Mary Lou Graves and husband Godfrey, Murphy, North Carolina. Several Nieces & Nephews including a special niece, Wilma L. Local Man Killed In Car Accident
Clarence H. Lyons, age 27, died Saturday morning at eight o'clock from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Lawrenceville, Virginia. He was employed in the shipyards at Portsmouth, Va. and was en route home for the week-end when the accident occurred.
Mr. Lyons was a native of Carter county and a member of the Harmony Baptist church.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Grace Lyons, father, Landon Lyons, step-mother, Mrs. Cora Lyons; one sister, Mrs. Ralph Myers; one half-sister, Miss Marjorie Lyons, all of Elizabethton; four brothers, Roy E. Lyons, Knoxville; William A. Lyons, Earl and Howard Lyons, of Elizabethton; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were conducted from the Harmony Baptist church this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. D. L. Brainard and Orville Richards officiating.
Burial will be made in the church cemetery.

Marjorie Lyons Gass, age 74, 1982 Hwy. 81 South, Jonesborough, died Friday, January 4, 2008 in Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following three-year illness.

She was a Carter County native and a daughter of the late Landon J. and Cora Heaton Lyons. Mrs. Gass was a member of Central Baptist Church, Johnson City. She had worked in the banking industry.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gass was preceded in death by five brothers: Roy, Earl, Clarence, Howard and Willie Lyons; and one sister: Armita Myers.

Mrs. Gass is survived by her husband: the Rev. Phil Gass, of the home; one daughter: Julie A. Gass, of the home; and two special nieces: Dr. Jane M. Jones and Jeannette Boswell.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gass will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, January 7, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Dr. Ron Murray and Rev. Bill Warfield officiating. The eulogist will be Hazel Campbell. Music will be uinder the direction of Bill Stoots, Debbie Odom, Barbara Stephenson, Judy Ramsey, Ambers Wilson, organist, and Rose Mary Lowe, pianist. Ester Carrier Stout, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at NHC Health Care, Johnson City. She went to meet her savior, celebrating with family and friends with a smile and grace.
A native of Carter County, she was born September 5, 1930 to the late Alex and Bessie Birchfield Carrier.
Ester was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She devoted her life to God and family and her late husband, Harry E. Stout, supporting him in his travels as he sang with the Psalmsmen Quartet to spread the words of Jesus Christ.
Ester retired from Levi Strauss after 16 years. She also worked until age 80. She loved sitting on her porch watching the river.
Survivors include her children, Glenda Bumgarner, Steve Stout and Karen Dugger. She had 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Bowers. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Special love to Gary and Tom Stout, Roy Livingston, Rowena Dunn and Mike Strickland and appreciation to April Hall.
A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Emmert Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Lyons and Pastor Timothy Adkins officiating.

Violet Gail Carrier Bowers, 87, was welcomed into her Heavenly Home by her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, from her residence, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, in the loving care of her family.
Violet was born into the loving home of Alex and Bessie Carrier of Elizabethton in 1935, the last to be born among 12 wonderful brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and quilting. She quilted many beautiful quilts in her time. She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed providing the finest meals for those she loved. To know her was to love her.
Violet married the love of her life, Rev. Horace Bowers, in 1959, and together they made a house a home.
Along with her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, siblings, and son-in-law, Kenneth Dunn.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include one daughter, Rowena Bowers Dunn; one son, Jonathan Bowers (William Bailey III); three grandchildren, Daniel (Tracie) Dunn, David (Jessica) Dunn, and Dianna (Nathan) Bates; and five great-grandchildren, Zachariah Dunn, Caleb Rosenbalm, Karleigh Dunn, Annabelle Bates, and Olivia Bates.
She cherished and loved all of her nieces, nephews, and extended relatives of the Carrier, Birchfield, and Bowers families.
A very special thanks to friends of Harvest Baptist Church, Pleasant Beach Baptist Church, Bible Baptist Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, and Munsey United Methodist Church for all of the services, love, prayers, and special gifts that have been given and provided to the family.

Mary Lillie Lyons Baker, 78, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at the Waters of Roan Highlands Nursing Home. Mary was born in Carter County to the late Thomas Dewey Lyons Sr. and Gertrude Arnett Lyons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Baker; her daughter, Lillie Stout; and a son-in-law, Richard Lindecamp.
Mary was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed coloring, playing cards, sewing, going to yard sales and collecting antiques. Mary loved to spend time with her family — especially her grandchildren.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late James Homer & Addie Crowe Lipford. Jack attended Elizabethton High School. He was retired as a Supervisor at Industrial Piping, Charlotte, North Carolina after 35 years of service. Jack was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the Oasis Temple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: James Lipford, Jr and Basil Lipford and three sisters: Beulah Snavely, Shirley Chapel and Roberta Dumpy's. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Judy Garland Lipford. His children: Michael & Phylis Lipford, Concord, North Carolina, Tammy & Gary Wallace and Todd & Pam Lipford all of Charlotte, North Carolina. 7 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren. JOHNSON CITY - Dalene Crowe Bowman, age 87, of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Samuel Franklin Crowe and Virginia Smith Crowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Crowe, Samuel Crowe, and Gary Crowe; and one sister, Betty Lois Garren.

Dalene was a 1954 graduate of ETSU Training School. She married Joe Lynn Bowman on December 11, 1955. Together they joined hands and began a wonderful life together as in 1959 they founded Modern Equipment Company which was a local Farm and Construction Machinery Dealer in Johnson City, Greeneville and Abingdon and ran it until retirement in 2006. She was a member of North Johnson City Baptist Church where she served as head of the flower decorating committee, was a member of the choir and a children’s Sunday school teacher. She helped on the family farm, Bowman Dairy, that she and her husband had from 1980 until 1990.

She loved traveling in the motorhome and spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed singing karaoke and country music as well loved playing the piano. Dalene loved the beach vacations and the annual trips to the Amish County in Ohio. To her husband, she was the wife of the century and to her children she was the mother of the year.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joe Lynn Bowman; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Bowman, David Bowman and wife Liz, Eddie Bowman and wife Robin, and Stephen Bowman and wife Kim; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie C. Hathaway.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 22, 2023 from 12:00PM until 1:00PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00PM with Pastor Rick Powell officiating.

Committal Service and Interment will follow at 2:00PM in the Garden of the Cross at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

ELIZABETHTON - Betty Lou Hicks Shirley, 85, Elizabethton went home to be with her Lord Monday, April 8, 2019 at the Johnson City medical Center.

Born December 3, 1933 in Johnson City to the late Joseph & Armitta Bowers Hicks. She came to Elizabethton at an early age to live with her Uncle & Aunt: Albert & Grace Hicks. She was a 1952 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Betty was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was active in the WMU serving as Director and she loved working in Vacation Bible School. She was a homemaker, loved to cook, sew, and go camping and spending winters in Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years: Eddie M. Shirley who passed away January 16, 2018, by a granddaughter, Rachael Whaley, her sisters: Irene Greene and Ada Mae Byrd, her brother: Joe Hicks and a sister-in-law: Betty Jean Shirley.

Survivors include her children: Debra Sanders & husband David, Johnson City, Eddie Martin Shirley II & wife Jane, Knoxville, Keith Shirley & wife Barbara, Kingsport and Diane Whaley & husband Mike, Gray. BLUFF CITY - Nina Sue Bennett, age 81, of Bluff City, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at her home. Nina was born in Sullivan County, a daughter of the late Paul and Beulah (Morse) Hicks. In addition to her parents, Nina was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Wayne Bennett; a daughter, Amber Bennett; a son, Michael Bennett; a son-in-law, Leonard Berry; and several brothers and sisters.

Nina was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and sister and a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church. She loved working puzzles, collecting anything roosters, but her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family- especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Nina’s memory include two daughters, Rhonda Berry of Elizabethton and Tammy (James) Owens of Bluff City; four sons, Keith (Carolyn) Bennett and Mark (Brenda) Bennett all of Bristol, TN and David (Flora) Bennett of Bluff City; eleven grandchildren: Jenni, Sarah, Jessica, Andrew, Brittany, Stacie, Christin, Tony, Jordan, Erica and Dalton; several great grandchildren; three sisters, Treola Cornett, Wanda Hicks and Stella Burnette; one brother, Allen Hicks; a daughter-in-law, Ann Bennett of Bristol, TN; a special friend, Peggy McDuffie; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She formerly had worked in the City of Johnson City Manager’s Office and also at Nanny’s Country Kitchen. She was involved in the Recovery Soldiers Ministries. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Perry Ford, who passed away August 16, 2021, and a brother, Tony Slagle. Montie Elmer Chesser, 70, Rt 2, died Friday in Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Carter County he was the son of Henry and Lydia Lyons Chesser. Mr. Chesser was a member of Lyons Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a carpenter, a farmer, and lumberman.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, and four brothers.

She was a native of Carter County and daughter of the late Robert Lyons and Mary Ann Grindstaff Lyons.

In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lawrence Street; brothers: Robert Lyons, Basil Lyons, and Henry F. Lyons; sisters: Tempie Lyons, and Joyce Dennis Hale; her sons-in-law, Jimmy Henley, and Delbert Dempsey.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Everyone who knew Ethel, called her "Nanny".

A native of Butler, TN she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes Greer Lyons. She retired as an office worker from TN Eastman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Norton and a great-grandson, Jonathan Woodby.

She was born in Johnson City, TN and was the daughter of the late George Washington Lyons and Agnes Greer Lyons. Della was a homemaker and she was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and all types of crafts including painting, quilting, ceramics, jewelry making and upholstery work.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Warren Woodby and her second husband Robert Newman Driscoll; a son, Ronell Driscoll; a granddaughter, Contessa Dee Vanorsdale Besaw; a great-grandson, Jonathan Woodby; a daughter-in-law, Carol Kursey; a niece, Patsy Hopson Mutter and three sisters, Dorothy Hopson, Gladys Norton and Phyllis Lyons. Dorothy Lyons Hopson Moore, 93, of Big Stone Gap, VA, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Heritage Hall of Big Stone Gap.

She was a daughter of the late George Washington and Agnes Dellarae Greer Lyons.

First and foremost our Mom was a Christian. She loved her church family at Keystone Free Will Baptist Church. When she moved to Big Stone Gap, she worshiped at Trinity United Methodist Church and Heritage Church of God where her son-in-law Ronnie was pastor.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Worley K. Hopson, Son, Bruce Marion and wife Mary, a sister, Gladys Norton and her second husband, H. L. Moore, precedes Dorothy in death.

Survivors include: her daughter Patsy A. and husband Ronnie Mutter and their children and son, Larry K. Hopson and wife Betty Jane and their children; her sister, Della "Dee" Driscoll, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and special friends, Nancy, Hope, Patti and Dottie.

JOHNSON CITY - Margaret Ann Wright, 91, Johnson City stepped inside the Heavenly Gates, Saturday, January 11, 2020 at her residence.

She was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late Chester and Elizabeth Bessie Nidiffer Walker. Mrs. Wright was a charter member of the Full Gospel Holiness Church. She was a foster parent, having fostered over 250 children along with her late husband. Mrs. Wright enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Wright in 2017; a sister, Lola Walker; brothers, Carlos, Floyd, Johnny, Lawrence, Lester and Clarence “Bill” Walker; two son-in-laws, Johnny Cross and Jerald Kilby; a grandson, John E. Cross and a granddaughter, Lisa Diane Adams.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Cross and Dean Kilby both of Johnson City; a brother, Jack Walker and wife, Charlotte; a sister, Zelma Lyons; four sisters-in-law, Louise Barnett, Betty Wilson, Ruby Walker and Trula Walker; grandchildren, Patricia Williams, Gregory Cross and Richard Kilby; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; over 250 foster children; many nieces and nephews.

A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late William Austin and Geneva Lyons Hubbard. He was a retired Construction Worker. Mr. Hubbard was a member of Watauga Masonic Lodge #622. Mr. Hubbard had made Pork Rinds at the Tri Cities Flea Market for over 40 years. He was a Free Will Baptist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Sizemore, Ann Banks and Maggie Babb; and one brother, Bill Hubbard.

Mrs. Hale was raised in Elizabethton, Tenn., and was the high school homecoming queen. She attended ETSU in Johnson City, Tenn. She moved to Kinston in 1950 with her husband, Dr. Clarence "Bud" Hale, when he began his career as a dentist at the Caswell Center. She enjoyed going to the beach, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and had a great appreciation of the arts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clarence C. "Bud" Hale; father, Roy Lyon; and mother, Joy Smith Lyon.

ELIZABETHTON - Chris Northmore, age 82, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 3, 2017 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Chris was born in Carter County to the late Earl M. Lyons and Kate Huskins Lyons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Northmore.

Chris was a former employee of Belks and Watsons Department stores, had been a substitute school teacher within the Carter County School System and was a former beautician. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing and loved Elizabethton and being with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Mike Northmore and wife Susan, of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Heather Minton, of Elizabethton; two sisters, Lillie Fergosi and husband Richard, of Elizabethton and Merle Lynch, of Birmingham, Alabama; her nieces and nephews, Joyce Lynch, Jeannie Lambert and husband Kerry, Becky Blackwell and husband Axe, and Earl Slagle and wife Linda; and several great nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Chris Northmore will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Monday, March 6, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Pat Kelly officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Monday; or at the residence of her son, Mike, at any time.

ELIZABETHTON - Linda Gail Carrier, age 76, of Elizabethton, TN passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Erwin Health Care Center. A native of Carter County, she was born to the late Isaac Clemons and Goldie Carrier Clemons. Gail retired after 25 years working as an administrative assistant at East Tennessee State University. She was a member of Unaka Baptist Church. Serving the Lord and attending church was a major part of her life. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. Gail loved spending time with her grandchildren, working crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Carrier and infant brother, Floyd Clemons. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Jennifer Hopland, of Lenoir, NC and Candace McNabb (Ben), of Unicoi, TN; son, Kirk Carrier and fiancé, Joy Henry, of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Jillian Darville, Jessica Barnett, Jared Hopland, Madelyn Bartlett, Lydia McNabb, Ryan Mick, Kayla Carrier and Luke Carrier; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Clemons and W.A. Clemons, both of Elizabethton and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service to honor the life of Gail will be conducted at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Darville officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM prior to the service on Wednesday.

The graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Harold McNabb officiating. JOHNSON CITY - Donald Ray Barnette, age 82, of Johnson City entered into heavenly rest at Life Care Center of Gray on January 5, 2018 following a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Nathaniel and Lillian Light Barnette, and younger brother James T. (Jimmy) in 2015. Upon graduation from Rogersville High School, Don joined the army in 1954; he enjoyed tours of duty stateside as well as in Germany. After his discharge in 1957, he attended East Tennessee State College. For several years, he was a teacher in the Hawkins County School System. He later earned an Associate of Arts degree (Business) from Steed College in Johnson City. The majority of his career was spent in management positions in the restaurant and food industry.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Patsy Leonard, his sons Donald Ray, Jr. and wife Donna of Gray, and Leonard Scott and partner Mark Stevens of Brandon, Florida; sisters Loretta Murphy, Johnson City; Brenda and husband John Ramage, Auburn, AL, Sharon Shelton, Kingsport ; brothers Ronald D. James Thomas Barnette, Lieutenant Colonel, U. S. Army, Retired, age 78, of Johnson City, entered into heavenly rest at his home on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, following a brief illness of metastatic cancer.

Born to Thomas Nathaniel and Lillian Light Barnette on October 11, 1936, in the Long Island community of Kingsport, TN, Jimmy's formative years were spent with family in the Beech Creek community of Rogersville, TN. In 1954, "Jimmy" and his brother Don joined the Army together and upon completion of that obligation, they returned home to enroll at East Tennessee State College in 1957.

After reaching the rank of Sergeant First Class in the Army Reserve, he was commissioned First Lieutenant.

He later earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees while on active duty. He was proud to have served in the Vietnam conflict during 1969. His combined enlisted and officer assignments spanned 33 years of service.

Following retirement, Jimmy and wife Brenda Freeman returned to Johnson City where he volunteered in several capacities at the Veterans Administration. He was a proud and active member of the Reserve Officers Association (ROA), the John Sevier VFW Post 2108, the American Legion Post 0024, the Vietnam Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. and the Veterans Coalition (National), Rolling Thunder, Inc., Chapter 4 Tennessee, Association of United States Army (AUSA) , and the Tennessee Committee for Employer Support for Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The project closest to his heart was serving as a charter member on the committee that oversaw the design, construction and dedication of the Johnson City-Washington County Veterans' Memorial .

AB Carr, 84, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Odd and Corinth Shipley Carr.
Mr. Carr was employed at Stanley Garbage Pick Up and was a retired farmer. He was of the Holiness faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Mildred Marie Ward Carr; four brothers, George, Edmond, Gene and Aaron Carr; and two sisters, Selma Morgan and Maribelle Carr.
Survivors include his children, Deborah Wagner and husband Ambers, Teddy Carr and wife Rose, Wesley Carr, Stevie Carr and wife Amanda, and Michael Carr, all of Elizabethton, and Calvin Carr and wife Shelia, Bluff City; several grandchildren; one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for AB Carr will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel. The eulogy will be given by his granddaughter, Lisa Whitfield, and music by Jessica Wagner.
