    JOHNSON CITY - Betty Blevins Humphrey, age 87, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2022, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

    Betty was born September 26, 1935, to the late Arthur Blevins and Madonna “Donnie” Harrell Blevins in Unicoi.

    A devout Christian, Betty was a longtime member of Lynnwood Church of Christ.

    Betty was a homemaker and a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by so many, and she will be greatly missed.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Humphrey; former husband, Doug Humphrey; and her six brothers and two sisters.

    Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her children, Rocky Humphrey, Drema Tester, and Kimberly Osborne, as well as many others.

    The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow, at 1:00 pm, under the direction of Mr. Paul Peer. A private burial at Monte Vista Memorial Park will occur at a later date.

    Betty married Harry Douglas Humphrey on 17 Sep 1954 in , Unicoi County, Tennessee, . Harry was born on 19 Jan 1934; died on 21 Sep 2003. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    UNICOI — Ruby Harrell Garland, age 92, of Unicoi went home to Heaven today, August 24, 2015, to join her beloved Alvin.

    Ruby was born February 20, 1923, to the late Charlie and Daisy McCurry Harrell in North Carolina and came to Unicoi with her parents in a covered wagon. She was an employee of Southern Pottery for sixteen years.

    Ruby was a member of Unicoi Baptist Church where she served as Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher for twenty years.

    Other than her parents and brother, Buford Harrell, Ruby was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-three years, Alvin Garland in 2010.

    Ruby loved life on the farm with Alvin and said it always gave her comfort and peace.

    She leaves behind a sister-in-law, Bernice Harrell of Manchester, TN; a brother-in-law, Ralph Garland and wife, Joan of Unicoi; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Sharon Daniels and husband, Bob of Johnson City; a great niece, Julie Dugger and husband, Scott and their son, Taw, who were with Ruby daily; good friends Walter and Charlotte Burkett and son, Walter, Jr.

    The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 26, 2015, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Garry Edwards will officiate at the 1:00 PM funeral service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler.

    Honorary pallbearer will be J. D. Whitson. Active pallbearers will be Walter Burkett, Walter Burkett, Jr., Scott Dugger, Ford Wilson, and Mike Garland.

    Committal service will follow in the Roselawn Memory Garden, Johnson City.

    A special thanks to all the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care staff for their care and kindness to Ruby.

    Ruby married Alvin W. Garland on 22 Jun 1946 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee. Alvin (son of David Holden Garland and Joanna Slagle) was born on 13 Oct 1922 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; died on 28 Apr 2010 in Unicoi County, , , Tennessee; was buried in Roselawn Memorial Park, , Carter County, Tennessee. Drema was born on September 13, 1961 to the late Harry Douglas Humphrey and Betty Blevins Humphrey in Johnson City, TN. Drema was a homemaker and wonderful mother and Nonnie. She was loved by so many and never met a stranger. Drema had a wonderful personality, great sense of humor, and a loving and caring heart. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jerry “Duck” Humphrey. Those left to cherish Drema’s memory include her children, Amy Tester, Caleb Tester, Hannah Tester, and Cori Tester her siblings Rocky Humphrey and Kimberly Osborne and her Grandchildren Jacob Tester, Gracie Tester, Desmond Locket, Brooklynn Canter, Braden Howard, Braxton Howard, Kaylynn Smith, Marlee Salters, Kynzlee Tester, Emory Simmons, Karson Smith, Rhealynn Tester, and Baker Tester. The family would like to thank Dawn with Avalon Hospice for her loving care of our mother.
