Maude L. Peeks, 92, formerly of Maude Peeks Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Peeks was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Lindsey and Amanda Nidiffer Rash. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Peeks, in 1977, a daughter, Barbara Evelyn Peeks, a son, Harold Peeks, a grandson, Roy H. Peeks, and several brothers.

Mrs. Peeks was a charter member of Hunter First Baptist Church. She was a farmer and housewife.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 18, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Horace Bowers and Dr. Dennis Deese officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 19, at Emmert Cemetery.

Carl Lindsay “Lynn” Rash, 79, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Known by most in the community as “Big Lynn,” he was born on the Rash family farm in the Blue Springs Community on July 10, 1943 and spent his whole life enjoying being a Carter County farmer.
Lynn was a 1963 graduate of Elizabethton High School. In addition to farming, he also had a long career as a semi truck driver, where he retired from Wal-Mart in 2007.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Vesta McQueen Rash; three sisters, Edna Rash, Ruth Estep and Pamela Gardner; and two brothers, William “Billy” Rash and Harvey Rash.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Louise Rash; his son and farming buddy, Carl Lindsay Rash II “Little Lynn” and wife Tammy; his daughter, Linda McClure and husband Mitchell; a step-son, Jerry Taylor and wife Robin; a brother, John Rash; and a sister, Patricia Rash; along with a wonderful family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers were his grandsons, Andrew and Scott Heuiser, Josh Jones, Ezekiel McClure, Josh and Casey Taylor.

TSGT Darrell Peeks, U.S. Air Force (Retired), age 83, of Gray, went home to be with his Lord and join his family on Monday, April 20, 2015, from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tennessee.
Mr. Peeks was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Roy L. Peeks and Maude Rash Peeks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine "Dean" Peters Peeks, on June 24, 2011; two sons, Lanny Peeks and Roy "Lucky" Peeks; his twin brother, Harold Peeks; and his sister, Evelyn Peeks.
Mr. Peeks retired from the United States Air Force after 25 years of service and also retired as a security officer from the Veterans Administration. He served in both the Korean War and during the Vietnam Era.
He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, feeding and watching birds from his back porch and watching sports.
Those left to cherish his memory include five daughters, Denise Yontz and Charisse Peeks, both of Gray, TN, Tina Vaughn and husband, Larry, and Evelyn Keller, all of Elizabethton, and Patty Osborne and husband, Mark, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Amy, Dustin, Kaleb, David and Kaitlyn; five great grandchildren, Tristan, Chandler, Hannah, Jami and Daniel; and a special daughter (number 6), Sue Hollifield.
A service to honor the life of TSGT Darrell Peeks, U.S. Air Force (Retired), will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Danny Blevins, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sandy Keller.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Mark Osborne, Larry Vaughn, Dustin Peeks, Kaleb Peeks, David Osborne and Harold Keller. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Thursday.

Darrell married Geraldine G. Peters about 1956 in , Giles County, Tennessee, . Geraldine (daughter of Paul H. Peters and Living) was born on 22 Aug 1935; died on 24 Jun 2011 in Washintgon County, , , Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

ELIZABETHTON - Roy "Dan" Rash, age 59, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 4, 2019 at his residence.

Roy was born in Carter County, Tennessee to the late William Roy Rash and Leota Walker Rash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron W. Rash.

Dan had worked as a technician for Duncan Gas and then for Heritage Propane for almost 30 years. He was baptized at Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Roan Mountain and the Moose Lodge. Dan loved long rides through the mountains and watching movies. His favorite show was Andy Griffith and he was always known to be a happy person.

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life and best friend, Samantha Hilton, of the home; one sister, Linda Lowe and husband Bennie, of Johnson City; and an uncle, Hugh Walker, of the Neva Community of Mountain City; a special cousin, Judy Wilson of Johnson County, many other special cousins that he loved very much and the entire Hilton family

Pamela (Pam) Ann Rash Gardner passed away peacefully at Sycamore Shoals Hospital on Saturday, May 1, 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer. Pam was born on June 10, 1953. She was a graduate of Unaka High School and Carson Newman College. She resided in Hampton, TN. She worked as a social worker for the Department of Human Services and later served as the Director of Adult Day Services for over 20 years. As the director of Adult Day Services, she served the community by caring for the elderly population. She was a faithful member of Valley Forge Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and sang in the church choir for over 20 years. Pam was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Gardner and her parents, Edna Rash, Vesta Rash and Elmer Rash, her sister, Ruth Rash Estep and brothers, Harvey Rash and William (Billy) Rash.

Survivors include her devoted daughters, Joy Anne Gardner and Marci Lynne Gardner and son-in-law, Alvin Shook. Her sister, Patricia Rash and brothers Lindsay Rash and John Rash and two special nieces, Linda McClure, and Cindy Estep Gilmore and one special nephew, Lindsay Rash II. As well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to the nurses and staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital.

At her request there will be no funeral service.

GRAY - Mrs. Denise " Dee Dee" Yontz, 61, of Gray, passed way surrounded by her family Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mrs. Yontz was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. Most people knew her as Nana Gray. She was the daughter of the late Darrell and Geraldine Peters Peeks.

In addition to her parents, two brothers, Lanny and Lucky Peeks, preceded Mrs. Yontz in death.

Survivors left to cherish her memories, daughter, Amy Yontz; four sisters, Evelyn, Charisse, Patty and Tina; four grandchildren, Tristan, Chandler, Hannah and Jamie; several nieces and nephews.
