    JOHNSON CITY - Nellie Meril Boone, 98, Johnson City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at NHC Healthcare.

    Nellie was born in Avery County, NC to the late Edward Logan and Rinda Johnson Hoilman.

    Nellie was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed working in the garden and the wood pile to keep her wood burning stove running. She was a loving mother and beloved “Granny Boone”. Jigsaw puzzles and fishing kept her busy and, when she was younger, she enjoyed quilting with her mother. Several of her quilts can be found on her kids’ and grandkids’ beds. Nellie was a long-time member of Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ.

    In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by: her husband, Charlie Arbie Boone; son, Tommy Wayne Boone; daughter-in-law, Wanda Jeanette Boone; and brothers, Cecil and Coy Hoilman.

    Survivors include: two daughters, Clara Davis and her husband Tom and Shirley Britt and her husband Eddie; son, Freddie Boone; eight grandchildren, Scott Davis and his wife Pam, James Britt and his wife Lane, Steven Davis and his wife Svette, Tommy Boone and his wife Lisa, Johnathan Boone and his wife Deena, Michael Boone, Crystal Gentry and Jennifer Phillips; brother-in-law, Paul Boone; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Jarrett, Helen Boone and Blanch Kelch; 14 great-grandchildren, Christian, Caleb, Davis, Sullivan, Tucker, Charlie, Anna, Alex, Ben, Joshua, Brandon, Rachel, Brooklyn, and Jared and his wife Grayson; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Daisy Mae.

    Nellie’s family would like to thank the staff at NHC. We appreciate the care given to Nellie during her time there.

    The family of Nellie Boone will receive friends from 11 AM until 1 PM on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 PM with Pastor Donny Reagan officiating. The graveside service will immediately follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Nellie’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mr. Billy "Bill" Hoil-man, 84, of John-son City, passed away Satur-day, June 6, 2015, in Lake-bri-dge Health Care Center.
    Bill was born on Decem-ber 16, 1930, in Min-ne-ap-o-lis, NC, a son of the late Will Hoil-man and Florence Bu-chan-nan Hoil-man.
    He served in the US Army from 1950 to 1953, then the US Air Force from 1954 to 1962.
    Bill re-tired from the City of John-son City as Su-per-vi-sor of Second Shift in the Mo-tor Trans-port Divi-sion and was of-ten re-ferred to as "Un-cle Bill."
    He was a mem-ber of the "Y" Free-will Bap-tist Church, where he served as Chair-man of the Dea-con Board.
    In ad-di-tion to his father and mother, he was pre-ceded in death by: three broth-ers, Paul, Dan and James Hoil-man; and one sis-ter, Nel-lie Mae Hoil-man.
    Bill is sur-vived by: his wife of 57 years, Mary Sanders Hoil-man, of the home; sons, James "Doyle" Hoil-man, of Eliz-a-beth-ton, Mi-chael Hoil-man and wife, Crys-tal, of South Car-o-lina, and Billy Hoil-man, of John-son City; daugh-ter, Pa-tri-cia Pot-ter and hus-band, Tim, of John-son City; spe-cial grand-daugh-ter who is like a daugh-ter, Jami Hoil-man, of John-son City; ten ad-di-tional grand-chil-dren, James "Jay" Hoil-man and wife, Julia, Tonya Shilling and hus-band, Scott, Kris-ten Hoil-man, Kris Hoil-man, Ash-ley Miller and hus-band, Ja-son, Mar-iha Hoil-man, Chelsie Teaster, Dy-lan Hoil-man, Alex Pot-ter and Brad-ley Pot-ter; ten great grand-chil-dren; spe-cial fam-ily friend, Doug Stan-ley; one sis-ter, Ida Blake, of Glade-wa-ter, TX; and one brother, Fred "Sonny" Hoil-man, of John-son City.
    The fam-ily of Bill Hoil-man will re-ceive friends from 11 a.m. un-til 12 p.m. Tues-day, June 9, 2015, in the Mor-ris-Baker Dog-wood Chapel.
    The fu-neral ser-vice will fol-low at 12 p.m. Tues-day in the chapel. Rev. Scott Greene and Rev. Dex-ter Hoil-man will of-fi-ci-ate.

    WATAUGA - Rev. Glenn L. Hoilman, 78, Watauga went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, May 13, 2018 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital after an extended illness.

    A native of Burnsville, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Millard Filmore & Blonda Grindstaff Hoilman. He was a retired Mechanic. Rev. Hoilman had served as a pastor for over 42 years. He pastored Y Free Will Baptist Church for 30 years. He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church, Elizabethton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Terry & Edward Hoilman and five sisters: Katie Hoilman, Mary Ann Hoilman, Pansy Richardson, Geneva Dawson and Cathy Sue Smith.

    Survivors include his wife: Janette West Hoilman, a son & daughter-in-law: Dexter & Tammy Hoilman, Watauga, two daughters & sons-in-law: Connie & Frank Higgins, Elizabethton and Lisa & Donnie Bare, Watauga. His Grandchildren: Daniel Hoilman, Vanessa Hoilman, Gary Hoilman, Constance Ferguson, Jimmie Brown, Justin Brown, Madison Higgins, Devan Nelson, Benjamin Bare and Jonah Bare. His Great Grandchildren: Natalie Brown, Jacob Brown, Samuel Ferguson, Kenzie Harrison, and Emily Harrison. His Brothers: Gene Hoilman, Dennis Hoilman & Henry Hoilman. His Sisters: Linda Robinson and Glenda Roe. Several nieces & nephews.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Presnell and Dexter Hoilman officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 in the Shell Cemetery, Piney Flats. Music will be provided by Mike Presnell. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday will be; Jimmie Brown, Justin Brown, Devan Nelson, Gary Hoilman, Steve Wyatt, Morris Wyatt, Preston Sanders and Kevin Harrison. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Daniel Hoilman, Frank Higgins, Benjamin Bare and Jonah Bare.
